I hate that I'm writing a negative review because I loved my classes there, but I am appalled by…read morethe owner's complete disregard for customer service and decency. I was charged a month after my policy should have been canceled. I emailed a few times with no response and then called. The woman on the phone was really sweet and kind, and acknowledged that I shouldn't have been charged. She said that the owner was the only one who could do the refund and that she would contact her. A few days later, I called again because nothing had happened. I was honest in my emails that I canceled because I was really struggling financially, and $90 was a huge hit to us before the holidays, though it may not be much to them. The same woman was apologetic and said she did tell the owner, and to reach out the next day if nothing happened because then the manager would be in. Well, I call when the manager was in and he came off as condescending when I told him I was charged when I shouldn't have. Once I told him the date I submitted the cancellation form, two months prior, his tone changed and he said he would text the owner again right away. It's been a month now and I still haven't received a refund. Either this owner is that disorganized, doesn't care, or is intentionally not refunding me. It really sucks because I was planning on coming back when I could afford it because I loved the classes (especially with Rachel!) but I just will not give the owner my money again.

I found Village Pilates on ClassPass and booked the "beginner mat" class the night before. Getting there- There is meter parking right in front of the studio and you ring the doorbell for an instructor to let you in. As a first timer, they asked me to fill out a waiver upon walking inside. They ask for some generic information like birthdate and home address, but they also have a space where you can notify them of any injuries or health needs that should be known before taking the class. When I wrote that I had scoliosis, Len checked in with me and said I should let him know if I feel any pain during class so that he can provide me a modification. The experience- I was pleasantly surprised by my ability to follow the instructors sequence and pacing. "Len" was the instructor for the beginner mat class. He was super patient and helpful in correcting any errors in my form in a kind and respectful way. Overall a great experience and I can't wait to go back!

Upon entering the studio you will appreciate the color scheme and array of plants. The atmosphere was fresh and clean. Marissa's voice projected through the the room so calmly, I almost fell asleep twice. She's patient and affirming. She provided me with bottled water. I felt like every other participant in the class despite her noticing my belly bump. She didn't let me slack, she made sure I was positioned properly during every pose. I thought I heard her mention teaching kids as well. There are multiple instructors, classes at every level, and you can even participate virtually if you prefer. Social distancing takes place inside the studio according to the green markers on the floor. Masks are required. The studio provides space for your shoes and other belongings. I've had many massages over the years and each time, I've been left with a 'ah, that was nice' kind of feeling, but never a 'WHOA I'M A NEW WOMAN' feeling...until this massage. I had been struggling with some issues in my upper body that started to affect my sleep so I decided to go in and Clare spent a lot of time working through these issues. I left feeling more relaxed and when I woke up this morning, I realize that I haven't had that restful of a sleep in months. I guess since this was Valentine's I was the only one who attended the class. Which was nice because this was my first time taking a Aerial Yoga Class. It gave me a chance to have an one on one time with the instructor. Amy the instructor was very calm and patient. She made sure that I was comfortable and relax. The Love Oil had an nice aroma scent in which she put a tab of it on the inside of my wrist. It really helped me to relax and stay focus. She dim the lights and we did some warm up aerial conditioning in the silk blue hammocks. It helped me to improve my balance and strength. No, lie I was a bit nervous but her calmness helped me to relax and gain confidence. The music was so soft and inviting to the atmosphere. Pineapple Dance Studio is a place where you feel calm and soothing. Professional instructor who is patient and take time to make you feel comfortable.

Belly Dancing? Me? When a friend suggested that I take up Belly Dancing, I could barely talk I was…read morelaughing so hard. After all, what the heck would I do with my hips? Well let me tell you- hips and tummy rule in this class and once you learn to isolate your core and move only the right parts, you actually feel like you can do anything. As for me? I didn't even know my hips could move like that. Somewhere inside all of us is a hip swiveling, gyrating dancer just waiting to get out! And once that music starts- you are hard pressed to do anything but move! I rarely tie anything around my hips (after all- they really don't need any more attention!) but here in this class- tie on a sparkly hip scarf and you are transformed! Classes are offered throughout the week with a beginner class on Wednesday and Saturday. And don't fear if you have never done this before- the instructor makes everyone feel welcome and trust me- there are others in the class who are worse belly dancers than you! Shocked the heck out of me! This has to be one of the most fun ways to get exercise that I can remember. My arms looked like twining snakes, circling my body and while my shimmy needs a little work (might be the age of my chassis- Ha!) by the end of the class I was one with the music! I can't wait to move up to finger cymbals! If Belly dancing is not your thing- Pineapple also offers Zumba, West African Dancing and Piloxing which is sort of a hybrid between Pilates and boxing. Dance classes run $18 each with the exercise classes costing $10 or you can buy a series at a savings. Also know that you need to pre register for the dance classes but you can drop in for Zumba and Piloxing. Belly dancing is the oldest recorded dance form. As Shakira sang in that song from a few years ago "The hips don't lie!. But trust me- in this class - they are certainly telling quite a story!
