One of the best studios in the Chicagoland area. The vibe is amazing, the furniture comfortable, the warmth of the place relaxing and every being that enters the studio brings all of their love and vulnerability to heal, grow, and learn which is more than one can ask for in my opinion from a studio and are the most critical pieces. In addition, each teacher is a true subject matter expert and they all teach from their heart, pouring their gifts: Gulia an absolutely superb yoga teacher, her Vinyasa classes are challenging and fun, Amy has a warm Hatha Yoga class that truly allows you to connect with your body and one of the personal favorites is Yin/Restorative yoga with Pavla on Monday nights. Make sure to get there early as this class almost always is completely packed with beautiful beings. I recently scheduled a massage with Clare; one of the resident body workers at PS Yoga. Scheduling was a breeze and Clare was absolutely amazing to work with. I've had many massages over the years and each time, I've been left with a 'ah, that was nice' kind of feeling, but never a 'WHOA I'M A NEW WOMAN' feeling...until this massage. I had been struggling with some issues in my upper body that started to affect my sleep so I decided to go in and Clare spent a lot of time working through these issues. I left feeling more relaxed and when I woke up this morning, I realize that I haven't had that restful of a sleep in months. I came to this studio a complete novice. I was worried about embarrassing myself, because I am very aware of my weaknesses and inflexibility, but all the teachers here are supportive and helpful. I have been practicing for several months now and see an improvement in how I feel and look. I have attended classes with most of the teachers and they are all wonderful in their own unique style and instruction. PS Yoga has a variety of classes including those for people who need a slower pace to learn the correct way to align the body in various poses. The studio itself has a very inviting and soothing atmosphere. As someone who can never relax and failed at meditation several times, I find myself really letting go in savasana no matter whose class I'm attending. I definitely recommend this studio. The prices are very reasonable in comparison to other studios especially if you purchase a package. Gulia provides everything you need (mats, blocks, straps, blankets and, of course, complimentary tea) and keeps the studio spotless. If you're into massage, she also hires a massage therapist. There are plenty of parking options: pay parking in front of the studio, free parking along the side street, private lot east of the studio or along the railroad tracks (behind the studio). I can't offer a judgement of P.S. Yoga that dips below all 5 stars. Everything's clean, there are two big practice rooms, a small retail area, some relaxing nooks, tea and a staff of very good teachers. It's clean and conducive to most people's practice. Because while P.S. Yoga doesn't have the space or luxurious amenities of some other studios you and I have seen downtown or along the lakefront, it's the serious little studio that can. Of course the neighborhood demographics in Elmwood Park are a far cry from the lakefront, where if one throws a river stone, one hits someone carrying a yoga mat. The clientele ranges from serious practitioners to humbler yogis in training like myself, and the schedule is more than diverse enough to accommodate in both level and type. Consider: Looking to the next Monday as I write this, there are NINE CLASSES in two studio rooms, the first starting at 7:00 a.m. and the last ending at 9:00 p.m. As with many but not all centers in town, it's easiest to check -- even reserve a spot --online, most effectively, via the MindBody Connect mobile app. Super convenient. The classes, teachers and disciplines are incredibly diverse and varied, from restorative forms to Kundalini to more advanced hatha, vinyasa, and such. I don't see any level 3 classes, which isn't an issue for my humble wannabe-yogi self. What's missing -- bikram (hot) -- I don't personally miss. Also varied: The clientele at P.S. Yoga. I've met students who "just come here to stretch" and others like myself, perhaps most, who buy into the synergistic mind-body-spirit intent and effects of yoga. Truth is, al practice is good, and any studio conducive to that effort is perfect in its own way. I'm hesitant to single-out any instructors as my favorites, but it'd be criminal to not credit Gulia Huertas for her vision, energy and sense of balance in managing this studio. She's the perfect yogavangelist for an area in need of more yoga love. read more

Had the best yoga class of my life there yesterday. And that is no exaggeration. It was my 1st Vinyasa1 class, (I usually do Bikram) and have tried one of P.S. Yoga other many offerings (that class was really good too) back in like Oct (it was the chi gong or something lol) ....but this Vinyasa1 class I went to led by teacher Clara was BEYOND AMAZING. it has renewed my love of yoga, and I have been oozing energy and happiness since walking out of there at 1:30pm yesterday. It is not an exaggeration to say that PSYoga is fantastic. I've taken a few intro to yoga/pilates classes over the years & Lisa Menard Schmahl is one of the best instructors I've encountered. She is all about you learning how to honoring your body--wherever your strengths/limitations might be (we all have them!). She balances encouragement with challenge & she is very engaged in the practice--gently correcting poses & respectful hands-on adjustments. Lisa is knowledgeable, insightful, & reflective...a well-grounded yogi--which is to say she isn't an annoying, self-absorbed, flaky hippy...thankyoujesus. Awesome place to do yoga~!! They have classes for all levels of yoga-ers. The beginners classes keep it simple while the vinyasa and ashtanga classes truly challenge you--you'll be sweating ALOT during the classes and your muscles will be toned afterwards :) They have a free parking lot in the back and the studio has alot of perks. They have a lounge area in the back with a variety of teas that you can enjoy before/after your classes, and a cubby-area for you to leave your mats. There's also super cold filtered water, so bring your water bottles to keep you hydrated during your class. read more

I've been going to this Yoga studio off and on for almost a year and highly recommend it. I drive all the way from wicker park passing what seems like 50 yoga studios to get there. The reason for this, is this studio is far better than any I have been to in the city. The owner is extremely understanding and interested in helping her students, she makes an effort to stay late and talk to you to see how things are going and to see if you are happy. Sylvia is a great yoga instructor that teaches a class called "yoga for beginners", which should really be called yoga for your individual skill level. She walks around magically tailoring the stance for every students to ensure everyone is properly challenged while not going over board. She also asks people how they are feeling and tries to think of yoga positions which can help. Sylvia is also very knowledgeable about yoga and you learn a lot in her classes. I highly recommend any of her classes. The place has an overall relaxing atmosphere in which you feel comfortable while sweating and working out. read more

I've been going to Gulia, for a Thai massage, for the past few months ... It's more like a stretch ... you are fully clothed, laying on a cushioned mat on the floor, and Gulia manages to stretch you into positions you would never even think of ... at the last session I never realized how tight my legs were ... It was a challenge with the pain level but, I got through it by breathing ... I felt absolutely wonderful the next few days ... My body had not been so relaxed, in years ... I try to go every three weeks ... Gulia does offer a package deal of 5 ... If you are into massage and open minded ... give Thai massage a try ... you just might become a regular : ) read more

Happy to write a review for my yoga studio. I started my visits with a Groupon and was so impressed with the variety of classes, the many times throughout the days and evenings, and the instructors I worked with. I signed up the week after my five days were up and have continued to enjoy a wide variety of yoga. The clients are quite varied, which this middle aged woman appreciates. The instructors, as well, vary in their abilities, ages and practices. EVERYONE I have encountered is welcoming and a joy to share time with. Being new to yoga, I took a 6 week introductory class with Rachel (she's a wonderful yoga instructor) and then a few other classes with different instructors who were also great. This studio is beautiful, close to my home, inexpensive compared to studios I've gone to in the past, and I feel super comfortable and welcome there. The atmosphere of the yoga studio is wonderful. You walk in and immediately feel welcomed here. Everyone is helpful and knowledgeable. It is suitable for beginners and those well practiced. Everything you could need is provided for you. The classes range from deeply restorative to a sweating workout. The schedule of classes accommodates practically anyone's needs. The teachers here are great and work with any special needs you may have. By far my favorite place to practice yoga and grow deeper in my practice. Would reccomend it for anyone. Spiritual or hypocritical? I attended community class on Saturday and was happy to purchase Groupon coupon for classes at PS studio the following Monday, I gathered few of my friends to do the same and we met on Wednesday to attend class. I was turned away and was not able to use my coupon, I was told that I was not a new client since I attended that one community class. Yoga is a spiritual practice, and one of the fundamentals of yoga is to uplift the spirit. Turning someone away from class is not a spiritual practice. read more

So far I've attended a few classes at P S Yoga and it has renewed my love for yoga. I've taken different classes with different instructors and so far they all have been amazing! Each class has been challenging in it's own way which I appreciate, it just motivates me to get more into my practice and keep challenging myself. After each class - I feel renewed, relaxed and at peace. I love this studio, how clean it is and the sense of community it provides, not to mention the teachers. The teachers are simply amazing and so good at what they do. Although the studio is 30 minutes away from my home - I will be more than happy to make the trip to P S Yoga a few times a week. Love the place. Saturday morning 8am class is great. But I got the Groupon and only went three times because of my work schedule so it expires in 30 day when you start. The place is clean love the two rooms. My biggest problem is that they will not let me use it anymore so don't buy the Groupon if you don't have the time to use it in 30 days. read more

I had a terrible experence at PS Yoga recently. I did not attend PS Yoga for a yoga class but for a Reiki treatment. I booked the appointment a few days before I signed up for it and I arrived at the studio, before my session, to find out a reiki master was never contacted for my appointment. I then had to wait 30 mins.for someone to show up, and she was great by the way, but there was a yoga session going on in one of the rooms and all I could hear was that yoga instructored conducting class, making it difficult to relax and fully enjoy my session. A few days after my session, I received a general email from PS Yoga,which I regret giving them my personal information, saying 'thank you' and I told them about my terrible experence; how my appointment was late, the distrubtion from the yoga class and, even after all of that, I was not given any kind of compensatation from my terrible appointment, thanks to there lack of concederation and respect for myself. I do not know how they do/conduct yoga, never been my thing, but I was appalelled at the level of disrespect I was given at PS Yoga and I will never set foot in there ever again read more

I love this Yoga Studio! I am a yoga teacher myself and the teachers are excellent at PS Yoga. I often pick up ideas that I can use in my yoga teaching. The owner has a variety of class styles and teachers, the studio is inviting and very clean, and there are always classes that fit my schedule. Beware of this place! They have unfair, strict and unfriendly business practices. My husband bought me a gift certificate for P.S. Yoga in May. I printed it out yesterday to use this week and realized it said that it expires in 6 months from issue date. I have three small children and it's hard for me to get away. It is now about 10 days over the 6 month issue date and the owner, Gulia, will not allow me to use it. When I contacted her about using it, she not only said I could not redeem it but suggested I buy the current Groupon deal to come to classes. Seriously?! Give you more of my money. She was unwavering is her list of excuses as to why her small business would not allow me to use the money that had already been given to her. I'm shocked this place can stay in business as unfriendly and rigid as they are. She also stated I can come to the new studio grand opening and possibly win some classes. She is willing to GIVE free classes away but not allow someone who has already given her money to take classes. The kicker of the whole thing is, she could not understand why I was upset.
