Came to Kneads for the first time with a few friends. We arrived around 9am on a Sunday morning. They have seated area with full service or an area you can order to go or eat in options (full menu available) with seating upstairs. There is also a little shopping area where they have loaves of bread and other goodies to purchase. Bought a loaf of sourdough on the way out and what I really appreciated is they will slice it for you as well! We started with Smoked Chai Lattes and a seasonal Creamsicle type beverage. The smoke notes to the chai were prevalent but not over powering - a unique twist. We ordered a pistachio baklava croissant to share - flaky and and filled with pistachio paste inside. I would recommend it! For our meals we had the Egg & Cheese Biscuit, Ham and Cheese Béchamel Croissant and Egg White Omelette. They were all good and filling. Our service was good, but relaxed towards the end - started out attentive but we were done with our meals quite a while before someone came over to ask if we needed anything or offered the check. We really didn't mind since we hadn't caught up with each other in a long time, so appreciated not being rushed out of there. We also were in a back corner, so may not have been the most noticeable. Everyone was really friendly who worked there. Loved the open kitchen concept where you could watch them making all the donuts and croissants. Probably one of the rudest experiences I've had in a while. I just wanted a coffee and pastry and kept getting shuffled from one place to another. I was sent to order at the counter and said I wanted to eat there. I was told to go back to the hostess to be seated. When seated, I was told I needed to order a full breakfast or go back to the counter to order and be sent outside. You serve food. There are a dozen open tables. And every person there ignored me until I asked for service. They're obviously popular. Definitely their food not their service. read more

This is the singularly most beautiful store in Baltimore! The bread is absolutely fire! The most amazing array of sourdough, donuts, croissants, and breakfast foods. You don't need to look anywhere else for breakfast! But the price is definitely a little high... but quality and beautiful space requires proper compensation. There is a restaurant on the bottom floor with beautiful decor. The top floor is a sitting lounging area where people can study, work and eat casually. The steak and cheese bagel is mind blowingly good! It tastes like slow brazed beef and not like Steak and cheese meat. I will definitely back with my family. This place truly won me over. It is truly the cutest place I have ever eaten lunch. The ambiance is out of this world. It doesn't even feel like I am in Baltimore. It's light, airy, gorgeous woven basket-like lighting fixtures, cool neon lighting signage along the main floor as you come in. You can see the bread and pastries being prepared in the back. My first time here for a solo lunch. I was seated right away. It was a good crowd inside and most of the outside seating was taken. It took a little while for the waitress to come but once she put my order in everything came out rather fast. There's a lot on the menu I would love to try. However, I kept it kind of light. I got the salmon omelet which came with a side salad and on order of cinnamon raisin toast. Omelet was very tasty and salad was simple with dressing already on it. First time at Kneads! There are tables for waiter service on the first floor, or you can order at the counter and eat upstairs. It was cool to see the operations in the bakery with the racks and racks of fresh bread. We ordered: Wild mushroom omelette, Apple danish, Chocolate chip cookie, and a Chai latte. The omelette was a hit. The chai was good, but wish it had more spices. The danish had a larger dough to filling ratio than your typical danish, so I was left wanting more apple. I think the chocolate chip cookie was too sweet and could be improved by more salt, or a slightly darker chocolate. I would definitely go back to try more of their pastries. read more

I really enjoy this location. The pastries are divine, which is to be expected. The breakfast food is also very good. The steak, egg, and cheese hash was decadent and even the egg white omelette was enjoyable. They also have a very good coffee selection with seasonal flavors. The banana bread latte was an experience I'm glad I can say I've had, although I may not order it again. The space itself is very large and airy, with windows on two sides and very high ceilings. This is a huge restaurant. We can always get a table during off-times, if it is a weekend morning or prime lunch-thirty, you may have to wait a bit for a seat. Sometimes we sit at the bar, there is no wait there and full service. It is a little loud but the food is worth the noise. The food here is so delicious! We have tried many things, all good. My husband loves all of the pizzas (the dough is extra good) and I love that burger. Sometimes we split a sandwich and a donut, what is better than that? It's been a while since I've updated my review for Kneads and I come here all the time. Since opening, everything has gotten a lot better. Service is friendly and food is great. I come here mainly for coffees and pastries but recently dined in for lunch. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. Our server was slow but our food was really good. Aside from the bakery/shop, there's also like a mini sit down restaurant area that includes a bar. And there's also an upstairs that has more loungy seating whether you're trying to eat or get some work done. Really cool venue and I feel like your experience might be dictated based on what you're trying to do. For me, my partner and I went to the sit-down restaurant area. The food was delicious. Everything was super fresh and had great flavor. The martini flights were definitely on the sweeter side, but the Americano was great. Service was honestly a bit spotty and I felt like our server snuck in an extra side of fries for us by making it sound like it was part of my entree, when it was actually an additional fee. I wasn't too mad about it because they were delicious. We stopped into Kneads Bakeshop & Café after seeing bread being made through the windows, and it immediately caught our attention. It's a beautiful bakery, and the mezzanine seating upstairs is a great place to relax with a coffee. We grabbed a latte and a donut. The latte was really good and was definitely the highlight of our visit. The donut, though, wasn't quite what we expected. Based on the fresh bread being made in the bakery, we assumed the donuts would have that same fresh-made quality. Ours seemed more like it had been prepared elsewhere, so it didn't quite match our expectations. Overall, it's a nice spot with a great atmosphere, quality coffee, and plenty of seating. And as usual my stop at this spot was without doubt a plus. I ordered my danish and banana bread latte at the front; it came out fast and tasty. Went to the bar and was seated quickly. I ordered an espresso martini with Bailey's as they were out of the syrups for all the special martinis. I then ordered smokes Salmon omelet that comes with spinach mix greens tossed in a vinagrette. This review is for bartender brunette Stephanie! We interacted with two Stephanies, the other had braids and glasses we chatted with her too, but she wasn't our angel of a bartender who waited on us! I can't say enough about Stephanie. She really gave thorough food recommendations, went above and beyond to give us info about their bakery, told us about their classes and joked with us about legoland lol. I'd give this place 4/5 except for the fact that when I filled my water bottle at the water station, I ended up with hair in my mouth (ew!), and in addition to it not looking like my hair, mine is braided so I *really* doubt it was mine. The music is kinda loud so it's not the best place to work/study unless you have noise-canceling headphones and head upstairs. First floor is a dining area with table service, while the second floor has outlets and comfortable seating, with ordering done at the takeout counter. I tried the almond croissant and it was hard from sitting in the display, but I imagine it's legendary when fresh. The interior was still moist and buttery, somehow without making the bottom soggy. The whole exterior had a nice crunch to it. I also got a cappuccino and was surprised by how good the espresso was (it wasn't burnt!!). Kneads Cafe -- My kids are giving it a solid 5 stars, and honestly... they're not wrong. The space is bright and welcoming, the food is delicious, and the counter service is quick and efficient. From an adult perspective, we walked into what looked like total chaos--a packed restaurant--and immediately thought we'd made a mistake. But then we realized you can order at the counter and head upstairs to grab a seat. Total win-win. We went with two cappuccinos, a lineup of sweet treats, and an incredible steak, egg, and cheese sandwich that absolutely delivered. I expected a simple coffee shop but found a full-service restaurant with breakfast, lunch, dinner, a bar, and a retail area offering candles, soaps, and jams. Kneads Bakeshop hosted a Galentines event and it was such a cute experience. It was $45 and that covered parking in the lot across the street and admission. Admission included two drink tickets, two raffle tickets and material for the painting. They had a flower bar where you could select from an assortment of flowers and they wrapped it for you. There was also pizza, sliders, pastries and dessert for us to snack on. The sliders were my favorite. Whatever sauce they put on it was super delicious. While we ate and listened to music there was an artist that guided us in painting stemless wine glasses. They curated a space to bond with old friends and make new friends. All of the staff were so nice and super helpful. They made sure we were okay from beginning to end. If this is an annual event I will for sure attend again. read more

Great food and definitely a happening place, the reason I can't even give it close to 5 stars is the service is meh at best. I came and was given a 45 minute wait time and for at least 20 of those minutes I watched 8 tables sit open and empty. The ambiance is quite nice especially for Baltimore as it's a big open space with that cafe like feel and they have this nice upstairs, hidden behind the main area, with big leather chairs and tables, great for grabbing food to go and meeting with people or focusing on your own work. We had a great experience at Kneads. 4th of July, they would be closing at 2pm. We got there at 1pm. We got our table right away. I ordered the hot Italian piadina and the sangria. My husband had steak and eggs and an expresso martini. My son got the burger and mango orange juice. Let me tell you that the piadina was the single most delicious sandwich I ever had. Well balanced flavor inside. But the thin crispy dough was the best! So flavorful. When we were about to pay, our server gifted us with two baguettes since they were about to close for the day and didn't want any items to go ti waste. As we walked our way towards the counter to order some dessert, the attendant told us to get any pastries we wanted, for free, as they also didn't want any going to waste. I think they are prime example of a spot that opened and expanded too fast too soon. This is their first location. I have been avoiding this place with my friend who had never been, and wanted to try it out so I figured I would give them another shot. I absolutely despise the way that they have two very odd stanchion lines. It's very unclear when you walk in, you immediately see an ordering counter where the café is, but then there is a small little stand with a hostess, and that is where you need to go if you want to dine inside. We went to the café to order, but then was told that we needed to go back to the front of the line and wait for a hostess to be sat. Honestly, with the way that they have the space it could've easily built a clear glass wall to make sure that they differentiate between the café and the restaurant. It's actually very bad customer flow. And a really bad experience because you have to wait in line twice and the service is never good there. The only redeeming factor about this place is that they sell local items - Avelee farms coffee and mt royal. The coffee used to be the redeeming factor but today they gave me a latte when I asked for a Cortado and a full caffeinated coffee when I asked for decaf. Listen, we are no longer in Covid and with larger corporate restaurants they need to be able to bring full service and the value of the products which they charge you for. The food this time around we got the broccoli cheddar soup, cause it was cold and rainy and the orzo salad, which was great, but it actually didn't have any orzo in it. Overall, it's such a disappointment. It is beautiful on the interior, but my only redemption was their coffee in this time the coffee was so absolutely disgusting. What a cool gem to the city! This is a pretty popular bakery in Baltimore with a few locations. There were options for sit in or take out (with first come first serve seating available).
