Large, clean spot connected to the Lord Baltimore hotel. It was quiet when we came, with dozens of open tables to choose from. Good atmosphere to sit and read a little, especially with the calming pale blue walls. Their beans hail from La Colombe. Solid stuff. Although a coffee shop, it's the baked goods where they excell. The homemade ding dong was chocolatey and fresh, and brought back many gluttunous memories. A bit pricey at $6, but tasty nonetheless. We also tried a pistachio macaron. I can recommend it highly, light, airy, and $1.75 a pop. read more

While walking to work I stumbled onto LB Bakery located in the Lord Baltimore hotel for breakfast. LB Bakery has an assortment of coffees, delicious pastries as well as sandwiches for the lunch rush. I'll start by saying I loved the raspberry tart - it was perfectly done and the fruit was fresh! It was a little on the pricey side, however, this is a cafe in the Lord Baltimore hotel, so of course things are going to be a bit pricey. Didn't have a great experience at LB's. The extra star is simply for when we were helped, the employee was super nice. Stopped in around 6:30 on a Thursday evening. Place was empty, no employees in sight. After about 5 mins and yelling excuse me multiple times - someone finally came around from a different department and said she'd be right back. When she came back, she was extremely pleasant, and am certainly not blaming the experience on her. They were clearly understaffed. Tried the carrot cake. Seeing as how I has just had carrot cake the night before to compare it to - this was probably about the worst carrot cake I've ever had. Could have been an off night, or just sitting in the display too long, but it was bone dry and the icing wasn't sweet as all. Not much to say or see here. I walked past this spot the other night and saw their breakfast specials and decided to return the following morning for breakfast. The staff was nice but the food was not much to write home about. I ordered the Belgian waffle and I was a bit underwhelmed. This is a really cool bakery/coffee shop tucked away in the Lord Baltimore hotel. We stayed here for a week when we visited family, and it was nice to have a place in the hotel to get a good cup of coffee and something small to eat. It looks like they remodeled recently because the interior feels new and bright. They have a good amount of pastries and sandwiches available, and offer soy and almond milk for non dairy options. My favorite things were the hot chocolate (even without the whipped cream it was very creamy and decadent), and their homemade ding dong...SO good. I should have gotten two before we checked out. Service was good too. They were patient with all the customer inquiries and took their time making the drinks. I will return next time we are in the area. read more

I came here after reading a few good reviews, but missed the one about the almond croissant. Unfortunately, I tried said almond croissant and it was as bad as described. Having had similar desserts from a Parisian restaurant in Toronto, I have some high expectations. However the croissant from LB Bakery was quite lackluster. The croissant was chewy and not flakey at all. The filling was rich but couldn't save the dessert. At first bite I thought maybe it was just stale leftovers, since it was noon. I also tried the coffee. I ordered a mocha and that was not bad. Overall, though, I was not impressed. read more

A nice cafe inside the Lord Baltimore Hotel. They don't boast the widest or most varied options for breakfast but what they do offer is all excellent. The Lord Baltimore breakfast is a personal fav, just a classic dish eggs, potatoes sausage or bacon but done very well and at a good price. The pancakes and French toast were good too. read more

First experience in the AM: great service, super friendly, and the breakfast sandwich was delicious Returned in the PM: all I wanted was a pastry from the case. There was only one employee- the customer in front of me kept ordering drink after drink...and then would take phone calls from people and then order more drinks! I asked quick if there was any way I could just get a pastry from the case and rung up quick because the customer in front of me had already take up 10 minutes of time, there was no one else, it would have taken 1 min to ring up a pastry before she did the other 3 MORE drinks the woman just got on her phone call.....and the employee looked at me like I was crazy and was rude in her response. I understand if she would have just said, nope I need to finish this customer first. That I would have respected! But this employee clearly wanted to "put me in my place". So I left. I had the chance to try out LB Bakery for a few meetings and I really enjoyed my time there! I went with an orange juice and then the crossaint breakfast sandwich and both were great. I was surprised with how lovely the presentation of my sandwich was and it looked picture perfect for only about $7 or so. It was a particularly busy morning when I was in here but still was able to grab a few seats and get all the work done that we needed. I think it has to be super convenient for people staying at or near the Lord Baltimore Hotel. The on-site hand made delectables are amazing! You can tell that the baker takes pride in her work. The staff is very friendly and is very proud to sell what they have. Just saw the sign that advertises 20% off to Federal and Government employees. Score! They use and sell St Michaels (Maryland) chocolate zin! The pot de crème, veggie quiche, chocolate dipped chocolate cherry Danish pudding and macaroons are to die for! Even the yogurt parfait was delicious and satisfying. Wonderful staff, wonderful food. Ok, now I really do like the cheeseburgers. The first one I bought since you opened back up was so delicious that I craved another one and told my coworkers. I even bought them back, spent over $50 treating them to lunch and of course it wasn't like the first one. Today, still being hopeful, got another burger. Asked for medium because last time my coworkers and I asked for medium well and it was too done. Of course, this time, too rare. The fries were lovely also, this time not so much, limp no tasting fries. also, no eating utensils and NO mayonnaise. Perks: - Free Wifi (Connect to the Starbucks one though - it's faster) - Cute desserts - Plenty of seating AND window cushions! so cute. Cons: - Not that many outlets (if you're here for studying) - Pricey I tried the Raspberry Iced Tea here and it was surprisingly good! Although it doesn't taste like ice tea, it's more of a sweet syrup but it is SO amazing. Mocha - Really thick and chocolatey, I didn't like it as much as other places. read more

As hotel bakeries go I am giving this a 4 star because of its convenience, excellent service and quality of food. We stayed at the lord Baltimore and were happy to find that their cute little French style bakery offers proper breakfasts cooked to order. In addition to the hot breakfasts, they have a range of continental options such as the croissants, muffins, boiled eggs and assortment of pastries. The coffee is good, and they have good quality fruit also (somewhat standard eg apples, oranges and bananas), but I'm grateful they have something at least that is healthy It opens at 6.30am and closes at 8pm on weekdays (its website is slightly outdated as it says it closes at 9pm on weekdays - don't procrastinate, stock up now before they close!) A small note: on their pre-packaged Caesar salad, there is way too much Parmesan cheese and no croutons. Instead they put tomatoes which technically does not make it a Caesar anymore...they need to fix this. read more

A cute little place attached to The Lord Baltimore Hotel. I stay at The Monaco when I visit Baltimore, but the coffee shop I normally visit across the street has closed. The valet peeps recommended that I try out LB Bakery since it's just around the corner. Great call valet peeps! Thus is a cute little place with quite a few seats spread throughout. The first thing I noticed was how friendly the staff is. This alone is reason for me to come back. I love supporting a business where you can truly tell that the people enjoy being there. I stayed at the Lord Baltimore Hotel for New Year's with my husband. My first stop after checking in was LB Bakery. I ordered a white mocha and some sort of red velvet cheesecake thing. Unfortunately neither was very good. The cake was stale and I was unable to eat more than a couple of bites, and the mocha somehow managed to be room temperature even though they make the drinks to order. Also the taste was disappointing. I kind of want to describe it as stale as well. I couldn't finish that either, and it's rare that I can finish mocha or sweets. It was so disappointing. It's convenient to people in the hotel, though, and it's cute. read more

I came here a few times while I was staying in the Lord Baltimore Hotel. I had a few things here: the white chocolate mocha, a turkey and Swiss croissant, and the chocolate pistachio brûlée. The white chocolate mocha was delicious! It wasn't overly sweet but had just the right amount of chocolate syrup/flavoring while still being able to taste the coffee. The croissant was good but wasn't as good as I hoped and lacked some flavor. The chocolate pistachio brûlée was also okay. The chocolate on top was way too thick to eat with the spoon they give you and it is dark chocolate (not that big of a fan). The Pistachio part underneath the chocolate was just pretty much pistachio pudding that didn't have a very strong flavor of pistachio at all. Overall, I would come here again. I wouldn't mind trying more of their bakery items and and the workers were super friendly. read more

The place was not busy at all but our server/cashier couldn't keep up with anything. First I never got any silverware, luckily my wife order the fresh fruit cup and got some, so I used hers. I never got my toast and had to ask for it twice. I also ordered a cappuccino and never got that. The guy and his lovely lady(that likes to cough with her mouth uncovered right on your neck) got their coffee drinks first. My wife asked the server my drink only after I asked twice. We walked in at 645am on a Monday and were greeted with huge smiles and friendly personalities. It took us a minute to order (yeah.. we needed coffee) - settled on just a large drip and a large iced coffee and a bagel (toasted) and an almond croissant. The coffee was amazing - my guy slurped his down before mine even cooled so I could drink it. He had a bagel and I had the croissant (I was REALLY looking forward to mine)... the bagel was just okay (nothing like those NY bagels we get... we're spoiled, I know) and the croissant was mediocre at best - the ends were dry/tough and the inside was a bit mealy (not enough marzipan, in my opinion). Overall a great little place - fantastically long hours (for those early and late night caffeine needs) - and amazingly fresh and strong coffee. Perhaps I just picked a poor baked good? read more

Yuck. Came at 7:30pm for coffee and dessert, but the front door was locked. Sign days "Open". WTF? I was about to give up and go elsewhere when a guy walked by and explained how to get in, around the corner and thru the hotel. When I finally made it inside, I asked the clerk how someone would know how to get in. He said, "Yeah we lock the doors at 5:30". OK fine, but how the hell do you get in??? He said "You have to go around. " Yeah, but how am I supposed to know that-- there's no friggin sign on the door! So I asked the clerk what desserts were the freshest and most popular. He said the lemon bar and the almond croissant. OK, I'll take one of each. Unfortunately both of my desserts were old, stale. Yuck. I couldn't eat either one of them, both got trashed. I've been wanting to try this place for a while - visited it one early weekend morning and found the place really busy. There was a line but it was moving quickly. Service is fast and very friendly. The two cafe staff (one male and one female) were extremely helpful and accommodating even for first time customers. I would give this place 5 stars for their service (definitely better the Cafe Poupon across the street!). The cafe has a nice modern atmosphere, it is well-kept, very clean and organized. They have a variety of pastries, sweets and bread to choose from. Tried the lemon pound cake and quiche lorraine. My husband also got the plain croissant and breve. The breve was okay, actually he ended up throwing the remainder of his breve (For great coffee, go to 3Bean Coffee or Charmington's!) - the lemond pound cake was really good (really lemony! Not too sweet), croissant and quiche (Cafe Poupon's are so much better than theirs!). Good space, great service, maybe try other coffee and other pastries!! read more

Not bad. The egg and cheese sandwich is made with real egg, but that means you run the risk of getting a sandwich with a runny yolk. Not for me. The first day I came, they had fresh croissants...the second day, they were obviously day old croissants. So disappointed.
