The waitress was surprised when we said we weren't. Don't let that stop you, it's a beautiful setting with great food. Helpful hint: Wine tastings don't start until noon. Delicious! I've since been back many times, bringing my cousin, friends, parents, and boyfriend. Everyone loves the wine here! I am not a sommelier so I can't explain my reasons for liking wine or not, but it seems that literally every wine is delicious. I usually go for the flights which include small pours and a souvenir tasting glass. Last time I was here a few months ago, I think my boyfriend and I ordered 3 flights so that we could taste and share all 12 red, white, and blend wines. Good choice, and relatively inexpensive. The food here is also good. I don't think they have a standard menu, but I've tried both the pepperoni pizza and a BBQ sandwich meal from here. When ordering food initially, it was just meant to "hold us over" until we got to the next place. But hot damn, the food is seriously DELICIOUS. Trust me and order from here! Lastly, this location is in an old schoolhouse. There's a lot of history here and the folks are willing to share that with you. Just talk to them! I'll have to admit that the winery itself is not as nice on the eyes as some others nearby in terms of being fancy or chic or whatever... instead, the vibe is homey, quaint, and welcoming. It was an exceptionally brilliant idea. The place has a phenomenal staff (especially Opie). They were welcoming, personable and knowledgeable. They had a deep experience with wines that helped guide the experienced wine drinkers and an empathetic approach to those (aka, me) who were clueless. I (ahm, the inexperienced) were never intimidated or given the snob treatment. However, my brother who knows his way around a bottle or two (or at least actively tries to fake it) was given the appropriate insights to what he was drinking. Across the ten of us, we tried multiple different wines and they were all well liked. Many made their way home as people had to take some bottles home. You can tell that I'm an amateur because the whole "flight of wines" thing was new to me. It was brilliant to sample many different varieties in what I would call shooters to the great disappointment of my brother. Yeah, I told you he acted like he knew what he was doing. They also gave us a brief tour of the beautiful grounds as well as a look "behind the scenes". I would really recommend visiting in the fall and maybe seeing things in action. The…read moreowner Jeff lead us through the tour and shared so much about their history, family, and the process of their craft. The property has been in their family for four generations since the 1930s and was originally a tobacco farm. Really cool to see them preserving their property and family history and keeping NC agriculture thriving. Our tour included a behind the scenes look at the cellar where the magic happens and it was so cool to listen to what the process is like. His wife does all the graphics and designs and they are lovely. Just a really special family centered place. We are not big wine people actually but our favorite was the bottle rocket which was bubbly and citrusy. The atmosphere here is out of this world just such a beautiful view. The tasting room and the patio and deck have great seating options. They had some live music the night we went as well. Very cozy and relaxing time!

Beautiful Winery!…read more This is a beautiful place and I'm very glad I finally made it to the area for a visit. There were many wine themed items for sale and the owner was very nice. She explained their vineyard and their wines. They have a large variety of wines for everyone's taste. I tasted the dry red wines. They were the Cabernet Franc, Cynthiana, and Leon Millot. The Cabernet Franc and the Leon Millot were my favorite so I bought a bottle of each. This is a must stop for wine lovers.
