Facilities were simple but great quality. Our ensuite 6-bed mixed dorm just had 3 bunks, cabinets, and a very nice bathroom with a brand-new shower. No lockers in our room (they said they're in the process of adding them), but instead there's a storage closet at reception. Towels are 2 euro from reception. There's a community laundry room and a nice big kitchen with free breakfast every morning. Free wifi in the building and paid computers in the lobby. 24-hour reception desk with friendly and helpful staff. They'll help you with recommendations and transportation and set up an airport shuttle for you if you realize at the last minute that your Ryanair flight leaves too early for the regular airport bus :) It's a busy central area with plenty of street noise and people coming in at late hours, so if you're a light sleeper bring some headphones. Overall a fantastic place to stay in central Dublin on a budget.

You can easily take the AirCoach from the Airport (buy roundtrip in advance!) and it drops you off just a 2 minute walk away. It took me a second to find it because I kept walking past the huge sign, but once you see it, it can't be missed. It's a charming red and black building, right next to a little restaurant. Again, the location couldn't be more perfect, its within walking distance to everything you want to do, and close enough to transit options if you need to go a bit outside the main city center. Now, once you go in, they have free wifi, computers and printing capabilities onsite (for a nominal 1 to 2 euros fee), luggage storage and organized events throughout the week (the hostel pub crawl was awesome!). They even have a free courtesy Skype phone! How cool is that? They offer an enormous kitchen where you can cook to your heart's desire if you'd like, fridge space to store your groceries and a small lounge/dining area. Washer & dryer onsite. But, all this wouldn't be the same if it wasn't thanks to the wonderful, friendly staff there. I stayed there for 2 nights, was assisted by 3 different staff members, and they were all beyond helpful and so pleasant (even when I asked them a million questions everyday!). There's a lot of space and very nicely situated within Temple Bar. The balcony view from my room was nice too. I was even able to catch the wifi from the kitchen. They had clean rooms and a clean kitchen. It did have one downside - the bathroom need a vent and more towels to clean up water on the ground. Other than that, it was a pleasant stay. It really felt like an adult sleepover that never ended. The beds were really comfy, mirror space was limited, and the wifi definitely cut off a lot and didn't reach the basement or the upper levels but for my first time in a hostel, I felt safe and secure. They will advertise all of the amazing benefits of buying it for 12 euros, but when you go out, you still have to pay for all of your drinks and MAYBE you'll get a freebie or two.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I felt this was worth mentioning. I had been traveling for over a day and a half and was extremely exhausted. I politely asked the front desk if there was anywhere I could sit and rest my eyes for a few minutes until check-in. The staff member immediately said no and made it clear that resting or sleeping anywhere in the lobby was not allowed. The interaction felt dismissive and not very friendly, and I noticed a similar tone when he was speaking with other guests. Another issue was the bathroom setup. I stayed on the second floor and there were no women's restrooms on that floor, so I had to go up and down the stairs each time I needed to use the bathroom. After check-in, I finally fell asleep because I was so exhausted, but I was suddenly woken up by loud pounding on my door( not a gentle knock )The staff member said he had made a mistake and placed me in the wrong room. I understand mistakes happen -- I've stayed in hostels all over the world -- but the way it was handled felt disruptive. As I was getting up to move rooms, he suddenly said I could just stay where I was. I had originally booked a four-bed female dorm because I hoped to meet other travelers, so having the room to myself wasn't really what I expected-but ultimately, I was grateful that I did have the room to myself so that was one positive He said he would make it up to me with a free breakfast token, but the breakfast ended up being very minimal (bread, cheese, yogurt, cucumber, and cereal). Overall, the atmosphere just didn't feel very welcoming. If you're looking for something friendlier with a better vibe, I would recommend Abbey Court Hostel instead -- the staff there are VERY kind, the common areas are lively- and they won't kick you out if you need to rest your eyes for 30 minutes and it feels much more inviting for travelers. As popular as this place is supposed to be, perfectly snuggled in Dublin's city center, it still leaves much to be desired. Upon arrival, everything went well. The front desk associate who checked me in was pleasant and efficient from the moment I approached the counter. The dilemma began after I went to the first room I was assigned (room 420), which was tiny and cramped but that wasn't too surprising as some European hotels are. However, the floor was sticky, literally sticky and as soon as I removed a hanger the entire rack collapsed. On top of this not being the type of room I pre-booked, I swiftly gathered my things and went back down to the front desk to inform them about what happened and request a new/better room. The manager then stepped in and instead of honoring my legitimate request, instead he said I will escort you back to room 420 to see if it can be fixed (as if he did not believe what I expressed). So, we went back to the room, he saw the problem and said if I could wait he'd send a maintenance guy in 15 minutes to fix the closet rack. I said no, I would like a new room. Then, I was given a new room in another part of the building that required two elevator trips. It was a trek, which is cute in the beginning, but dare not forget anything in your room. You'll be left contemplating if it's worth the back and forth. This room was much bigger, much better, much cleaner, all around what I'd booked and expected from the jump. The manager was not as kind or accommodating as the associate I interacted with initially. So already, day one, this hotel was losing stars. I was told the journey to the newer rooms is so long and so far because some of the hotel is under constructions and they haven't connected everything. Then, the heat in my new room was not working. It was extremely cold. I called the front desk, the maintenance guy came, and he basically said it's a big room so the best we can do is bring a space heater. That did help tremendously. Even the hallways (old side vs new side) were worlds apart. The old side, which I had to pass through to get to the second elevator, had a very strong and strange odor. The new side had a fresh smell daily. The housekeeping staff were courteous. Tip: if you ever lodge at this hotel, make sure to request a NEW room, and you'll know if it's new because those room numbers have 4 digits. If you're given a 3 digit room be warned and beware. Always advocate for yourself! The best part of my stay and the reason why I am giving 3 stars instead of 2 is for the breakfast. It was delicious and the hours were good (645am to 1030am).
