Beautiful spot for a family brunch to celebrate my birthday! Thankfully it's not busy compared to in the summer when there's a market outside. Very relaxing vibe when you step in with hanging plants. The bar area has exposed pipes to lend an industrial feel. We got a table right away in a booth next to the bar. We ordered biscuits and gravy, kids waffles, avocado toast and warm donuts. The donuts are deep fried coated in generous amounts of sugar. While it's good but felt like the large amount of sugar is very overpowering. The berry mascarpone cheese is really delicious! Loved the homemade biscuits topped with just the right amount of gravy. The waffles were light and fluffy, the whipped cream was to die for according to my kids :) I loved all the greens on my avo toast especially the sprouts. However, I found the toast to be on the bland side with not much flavor. Needed some hot sauce to spice it up. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our brunch and the service was great as well! We were attending a wedding in the area, and stopped at Knowlton House the morning after. There was a lovely small but mighty farmers market taking place, with some great vendors and many quality goods. After the market we stopped in to check things out and wow it was crowded at 10am on a Sunday morning. The place is rather large, we ended up at the bar as the dining room had quite a wait. The bar was delightful. We didn't eat but we'd like to next time. Drinks were good as was the atmosphere and staff. We'd def come back again. Prices fair and ample parking. read more

Knowlton House was a welcome surprise! We really went for the farmers market but decided we were hungry so we went in to partake of Sunday brunch. It was quite busy, but we were still pleasantly greeted and were shown to a table right away. My mom had the biscuits and gravy and she really enjoyed the meal (and loved the crispy roasted potatoes), but she did wish that the meal had more gravy. I had the turkey bacon bagel and it was truly fabulous!!! To sum it up, the oven-roasted turkey, whipped dill cream cheese, Nueske's bacon, alfalfa sprouts, garden tomato & red onion on an everything bagel were a symphony of flavors and textures and I wish I could get something like this closer to home. This has become a recent favorite for me. I should try something new on the menu but I keep craving their meatloaf; Smokey bacon-wrapped goodness topped with onion frills and micro greens with a bit of cheese in the center. We went for lunch and also did the distillery tour. The cheese curd appetizer was delicious. Light flaky breading and fresh cheese with ranch and a delicious jam reminiscent of boysenberry syrup. We had some of their cocktails with were delicious. The service was quick and attentive. I loved the interior of the building and which had lots of fun touches. Karl did our tour and had lots of interesting facts to share as well as the opportunity to taste the items they distill. We came here the weekend of St. Patrick's Day for the first time. The building and grounds are impressive and the inside is clean and beautiful. Lots of space for small and large groups and it's very kid friendly. Our group ordered 5 drinks and 3 of them weren't even available which was super odd for a distillery on a big weekend and disappointing. We got other drinks and generally they were all pretty good, with the exception of an old fashioned which wasn't mixed very well. We only tried a cheese plate which was fairly good. I'd go back and try their regular menu in the summer and hope the bar is better stocked. Fabulous spot for cocktails and delectable eats. I must warn you though, you may have to wait an hour to get a table on a Friday night. That being said, there is a beautiful distillery ambiance and tours are available. My only criticism would be the slow service. That being said, the salmon and quinoa burger were delicious. Such a great restaurant and space for brunch!! We started with a Bloody Mary which was delicious and had just the right amount of garnish. Moving on to food, we shared the donuts, and ordered a Knowlton burger, and the smokehouse hash. All of the food was really outstanding and I may have dreamt about the donuts last night!! We ended with a piece of the bourbon chocolate cake which I need the recipe for. If you are traveling through the area, Knowlton House is worth a stop. If you live in the area you are lucky to have a great place to dine. Quality equals price and the quality was exceptional. We had dinner here a few days ago. I had the Queen Bee drink which was delicious, albeit a tad small, but delicious. Then I asked Dan, our bartender, if he could make me a spicy drink that did not contain bourbon, and he came through making me a very tasty drink with gin. As my main meal, i ordered the cider glazed pork loins. It was amazing. The pork was cooked perfectly, the potatoes were nice and crisp and fluffy inside and the Brussel sprouts were so tasty. Janelle took our order and served our meal. Both Dan and Janelle were amazing and so attentive and friendly. Can't wait to have the pork loins again, because they were that good! read more

Our bartender was great in her mixology, explanations and repartee. The bar was beautiful and busy and customers were all friendly. It is Wisconsin after all. I had a Ring My Bell with Gin and red pepper syrup, lemon juice, a few drops of the secret brew of hot peppers and a dusting of Old Bay on the side. I thought I was taking a chance but it was YUMMY! My husband must have loved his martini because when I looked over he was having a second while I was trying to keep my equilibrium from the first. We stayed for dinner and tried the Smokehouse Meatloaf. I was happy to see that the portion looked just right, not too huge, wrapped in delicious smoky bacon with layered potatoes and broccolini. Knowlton House is amazing and my waiter George was a very nice server that I would recommend. The food was delicious! We started off with the donuts and they were crispy on the outside and warm and soft on the inside. I got the Knowlton burger and I loved it. The beef tasted fresh and delicious and it was perfectly juicy. The restaurant is filled with decor representing the history of Wisconsin cheesemaking and really just looks great. This place really exceeded all expectations that were already high! Just pulling up, the location is perfectly out of the way and the exterior is so beautiful! It was so hot today, but I'll absolutely be back to sit on the gorgeous patio before it's too cold. When we arrived there was a small wait but with it being opening weekend that was to be expected and it went so fast while we enjoyed a delicious cocktail. We tried various drinks and they were all literally perfect. Shout out to these amazing bartenders that absolutely nailed it! The food was absolutely delicious as well. The cheese curds were insane as expected since they are owned by the Mullins family, and I devoured the salad, and I would die for the recipe to that vinaigrette. My friends enjoyed the burger and wings and safe to say everything was inhaled. We finished with the apple cobbler and I was literally in heaven. So this was a hard one. Beautiful place... loved the atmosphere... found the old fashion tasty... but it goes downhill from there. Had the sampler bbq plate... brisket felt like it was the bottom of the pan left overs. Smoked brat was fantastic. BBQ sauce was decent, but what they call a maple bacon jam, had neither taste of maple or bacon. Pulled pork was ok but found the half melted smoked grilled cheese to be out of place. , The food aside we found out experience fun as there were laughs had etc .. but at the end as we got our bill and asked for our server if it was ok to sit while our party finish his meal(which she agreed). A male bartender quickly ce.over to tell us they were closing and to finish and leave. I get having a long busy night... and if that was the case and it was late when we got there, then tell us that and don't seat us. But never tell a customer to hurry and leave in such a manor. read more

Eight of us (ice hockey team participating in the annual outdoor pond hockey tournament) arrived on a busy Saturday night very hungry and thirsty. We were told it would be over an hour wait and then out of the blue, they were able to provide a table for us due to a party that decided they didn't need the space. The liquor itself they produce is mediocre, but their mixed drinks mask the flaws and are quite tasty actually. The food is not great from what I have tried...the pulled pork sandwich lacked any flavor beyond the smoke and was dry. Another person in my party had the smoked Platter and brisket and pulled pork were dry and lacked flavor, but the smoked pork sausage was juicy, flavorful and the one shining star on an otherwise pedestrian platter. It should be noted the only other time I've stopped here, the drinks were the same and when asking the bartender about food, he said the brisket can be good and is sometimes dry.(they had been open 7 days, there shouldn't have been sometimes at that point yet). So it's my bad for coming back after a fair warning. To top off the night, about 10 seconds after our server dropped the check, a bartender came up to say can you please finish up your drinks and leave, we are trying to close...this was 10 minutes after their closing time and only 20 minutes after we were seated. Up til that point, I was going to suggest the venue to a group I am involved in to use this as a monthly meeting spot, but after this experience I cannot recommend this place to anyone. read more

Stopped in today and had one of the best, most enjoyable tasting experiences ever! Staff was incredibly kind, fun and accommodating. Great backstory to this little central Wisconsin gem. Vodka and gin are delicious and the flight is a great way to taste and still drive! Make sure to have the tonic chaser too. Bought a few bottles to share. This review gets a 3 because it's an average of the excellent bar, and drinks. It would get a 0 for food. The drinks are unique and crafted well. The bar area itself is comfortable and what one would expect for decor and ambiance. It's a place one could comfortably sit for awhile. The food, however is nothing I'd seek out again. Touting to do smoked meat is really a stretch. The pulled pork was watery and tasteless and was nothing that came off a wood fired smokehouse out back. It came off an in-kitchen "pulled pork maker". The brisket was a mushy mess of tasteless meat. When an establishment says they have smoked brisket I'm not expecting this mound of shredded gray meat. I can do better with a cut of chuck roast in my oven. Understanding that this restaurant is getting started, it needs the consult of a seasoned (no pun intended) professional in kitchen management and food service and menus. Please take that crappy "smoked meat"'off your menu. Next, the fluorescent lighting in the dining area is a huge turn off. Please swap out those fluorescent light fixtures for something less reminiscent of a warehouse or surgical center. It needs warm light not stark light. Being a very noisy area, a warmer light would make the space seem more comfortable. Add sound panels in your bar and dining areas to soften the noise. It wouldn't take much. It could even be artistic!! read more
