Haven't been here for a while and today's meal just confirmed why I need to be a regular. Hands down the best food, beer and service in the Wausau area by far! We got the shrimp skewers and citrus mussels with the curry sauce to die for! We kept slurping up the sauce after the bread was gone! The garlic mayo complemented the shrimp perfectly. We also ordered the forager pizza. With the crispy crust, sweet fennel sausage and the mushrooms - I am in pizza heaven! Hubby ordered a few summer beer and I had the pineapple cider. Both were light and refreshing. Our server provided great recommendations and checked on us frequently throughout our meal. Had a superb experience at lunch. Tanya, our server, was fantastic. Toured us thru the menu and made recommendations that turned out to be excellent. Gave us considerable attention and respect. Five service. We sat outside on a beautiful patio nicely decorated with beautiful flowers. Decided to split cranberry walnut salad and it was delicious. Fresh greens with blue cheese and vegs accompanied with a vinaigrette dressings. Perfect size to spilt. Followed with the Margarita pizza with added pepperoni. Wood fire grilled to perfection. I came back to update my review after many years because I love this place. Everything I have over the years is great. I love the pizza, burgers and Mac and cheese but my all time favorite is the beet risotto. It's my favorite dish in Central Wisconsin. I selfishly wish they were open Sundays though as that's when we often go out but it's worth the wait for a day they are open. Good beer too if that's your jam! read more

This is one of the best place to dine in Wausau. This restaurant provides solid food that supports local farms. Great to see products from the local area being incorporated into their meals! The salads are solid and super fresh! The menu provides a good variety of food to fit anybodies taste buds! Pizzas are super yummy! Tried REB for dinner one night. They had a boisterous happy hour crowd. Between the crowd and the awful acoustics of their metal ceiling the noise was awful. Our waitress had to lean in close and shout for us to hear her. The WORST experience I have ever had in a restaurant? EVER. On top of that the food was overpriced, yuppie crap and they seemed to think ailoli sauce was the solution to be applied to almost every item on their menu. Driving through town on the way home and decided to check out a brewery. This place didn't disappoint, starting from the great space to the amazing food and beverage. Visited the Red Eye Brewing Company yesterday 1/8/2026 with 3 friends and two of us had their Reuben Sandwich which was the worst Reuben I have ever had. It was served on a hamburger bun, the meat was very red and spicy and you couldn't find or taste the sauerkraut or cheese. One of the other friends just ordered the Tomato Bisque that was served cold and not very tasty. The drinks from the bar were very good. It will be the last time I go to this restaurant! read more

PIZZA PIZZA! While the menu here is extensive, I would HIGHLY recommend their pizza. Ingredients used in dishes are sourced from local farms - which is a big draw (especially for tourists, like me)! Best brewery we have found in Wausau so far! The beer is delightful. I personally like the Bloom beer. If you like chicken wings, a good place for wings. They also make great pizzas . It is a great place for lunch or for apps and drinks after work. The service is always attentive and it has a great hometown brewery feel. Not far from downtown Wausau! I've had the wings, charcuterie and cheese board, Brie bisque, mushroom tartine, and mussels. All decent dishes; none stood out to recommend. I appreciate Red Eye's values and meatless inventions. Locals absolutely celebrate this venue; some going as far to say, "If you only have one restaurant to visit in Wausau..." I'm not sure if it's a diverse palate traveling the nation for the past seven years or my carnivorous dinner preference, but Red Eye's food is just okay to me. I'm sure if I was eating with friends or had my vegetarian daughter join me, it might change the experience. If that ever happens, I will definitely keep Red Eye in mind. One of the best breweries in the area hands down! Our bartender was AMAZING! I ordered their newest addition - the Chonk sour made with mango and marshmallows - and it was absolutely delicious, tasted just like juice honstely. We stopped by on a whim while passing through. I am blown away! The locally-sourced food was unexpected but very welcomed & the brews were top-notch. We got there soon after it opened so it was not busy. I was glad they have an outdoor patio -- what's nicer than sipping beer outdoors on a warm day? I got the pink lemonade sour to drink. I'm a huge fan of sours & this brew was excellent. Didn't make you pucker too much but had a nice crisp taste. For a meal, my husband & I split the shrimp po boy & side salad. Twice I have visited Red Eye Brewing and had an excellent experience both times. With a sizable bar and an open and relax atmosphere this is a great casual restaurant to meet with friends and/or family for a killer burger and a pint. Both times I found the food to be exceptional, especially the burgers. As for the beer at a "brewing company" it's just ok. There is no doubt I will continue to visit Red Eye whenever I am in Wausau and would strongly recommend it to anyone that will be in that area. I am excited to try every burger on their menu and then begin to explore the rest of it. While I'm not crazy about the beer it is perfect for pairing with the food. I am giving Red Eye 4 stars particularly for the excellent service, quality of food and wide range of house and guest beer options as well as full bar with feature cocktails. read more
