I noticed the newest review was from May 2023, so I felt compelled to write one, and add some fresh…read morephotos. Yes, there are a few things that could use updating, but all in all my room with king bed was quite nice. The furniture was obviously older, with a few dings here and there. But the bed, although firm, was very comfortable for me - I can't stand furniture I sink into. The pillows had cases with the word "soft" or "firm", which is nice. Everything was spotless! The bathroom was definitely updated, and was not so small I couldn't turn around. Of course, it is also ADA compliant. I really appreciated all the grab bars! I am not disabled, just old & creaky ;) The water got hot quickly and had plenty of pressure, so the tub filled fast. And unlike the last tub in a hotel, which had grab bars, this one had water controller within easy reach while sitting. Nice. The fridge was apartment-sized, with a tiny freezer shelf. The microwave was also small, but adequate. I wish hotels wouldn't use Keurig coffeemakers due to the waste, but I brought my reuseable K-cup & grounds. The machine worked fine. There was a large flat screen TV and ... thinking ... either DirecTV or Comcast, I don't recall which. It had a cable guide and was easy to navigate. Breakfast was free, of course, and had a nice variety of hot and cold foods, breadstuffs, cereals, hard-boiled eggs, yogurt, juices, etc. On Saturday I had a biscuit & half a ladle of sausage gravy, some crispy bacon, and scrambled eggs. All perfectly hot and tasty. I filled my commuter mug about halfway with some decaf, just to reheat what I made in the room. Sunday had similar offerings, although instead of scrambled eggs there were mini omelets with cheese; oh, and both days there were egg white veggie omelets. No bacon, but sausage links; there were also turkey sausage patties. I skipped the biscuit but did put a dab of sausage gravy over my links. Again, quite tasty and perfectly hot. I took a few photos of the breakfast seating because an earlier review complained that there wasn't enough. I saw two different families, one with 4 people and one with 5, sitting together. On Saturday evening, DD & DGD came to visit & swim. We had a nice time, for me because the water was actually warm enough for me to go in! I'm a big sissy about cold water ;) The jacuzzi was pleasantly hot and bubbly, too. I don't know what the room cost because it was a thank you staycation gift from DD & SIL. I can say that items in the snack bar are $$$, so better bring your chips & stuff with you! Or drive .3 mile to the Harris Teeter store that's just up the road! The staff members I interacted with were very friendly and helpful. It was a truly comfortable and enjoyable weekend!

Loyal Guests Taken Advantage of During a Crisis: My wife and…read moreI have stayed at this Holiday Inn Express many times, and we've always had good experiences -- until now. After a storm knocked out power in Annapolis for two days, we needed somewhere safe and cool to stay. Temperatures were high, and we had no choice but to find a hotel. What we didn't expect was to be charged $988.51 for two nights. The normal rate here is around $166-$184 a night, which means two nights should have been roughly $237-$245. Instead, we were hit with a bill that was four times the standard cost. At a time when families everywhere are struggling financially, this felt like a punch in the gut. We trusted this brand. We've stayed here multiple times. But this experience made us feel taken advantage of during a vulnerable moment. We're deeply disappointed, and unless something changes, we'll be looking at other hotels in the future.

Food: bar food, fried, unhealthy but party worthy Lane quality: the one we were originally assigned to #15 was not working and moved to 13 Service: check in and shoe service was great, but the lady at the bar was a little harsh speaking, given it was our first time there, I wasn't aware that WE HAVE TO order all of our drinks through our waiter, so I went to the bar ordered two drink drinks and was harshly told I cannot add it to my tab , so I walked away & ...:-( ... about 20min later the drinks were brought over by our waiter ‍ Price: we paid about $100 for 5 ppl for 1 lane of 2 he with shoes, and over $100 for a mixed platter with 4 drinks, not bad for the bowling part, a bit pricey for the food and drinks. Will return & hope to receive a better servive from the bar side.

Lane broke 6 times--for my party of 6 people we did six frames in 1.5 hrs. Almost every other lane was in use and working. They never moved us to unused lanes even though I had to walk up to the counter every time. EVEN AN EMPLOYEE who wasn't on the clock and playing in a lane next to us tried to help. 2. Constantly played highly sexual hip hop music videos even though there were tons of kids. 3. We ordered food but after it never came, we asked for a refund, were given 3 free game vouchers each and then we left. Never finished the 1st game. I love bowling, last summer I came all the time with a season pass. Same management and employees after 6 months, but it's just not a good bowling alley. It's meant for parties and food. Obviously very disappointed, not wanting to go back, but need to use the free games vouchers to make it worth the money we spent.

I thought the rooms were execellent and very clean! Noticed the AC/Heat that one guest complained about....couldn't think how many millions of dollars this probably saves the company nationwide as well as being good for the enviroment... The general manager was great and very friendly. I was treated to an upgraded room. I was so pleased with the hospitality, I signed up for their rewards club on the spot!

When I got into my room I noticed a odd smell which I eventually found out was coming from the carpet and the bathroom door didn't shut all the way. When I asked the front desk about changing rooms they stated they were booked, but the guy gave me a cleaning spray solution in a bottle for the odor. He apologized saying that the cleaning crew was unavailable but I could use it to make it smell better. It didn't. That should've been my cue to check out but again, I was exhausted. However the choice was made for me because around 9pm as I was getting ready to rest, I saw a bug in my room by the AC so I killed it and went to bed. Not long afterward I felt something under the covers and pinched it. When I lifted the covers the remains of whatever it was smeared the sheets. 10pm I showed the pictures to the front desk and left. What bothers me the most is that I emailed the manager and called several times and no one has gotten back to me. Do not come here unless you want terrible customer service, a smelly humid room and bugs.
