I went to Knoxville Dermatology group for a rash that was ongoing for 6 weeks. They did listen to my concerns but decided that the only course of action was to take 2 punch biopsies, one from my arm and the other from the center of my chest. This gave them no information...only that I was allergic to something. Hmmm really??? SHOCKER I now have scars on my chest and my arm and a "Pay Immediately $212.00" bill. I guess insurance doesn't pay for unnecessary biopsies.... I figured out on my own that I am allergic to down. So my rash is gone NO thanks to Knoxville Dermatology Group. read more

Several years ago I had a small cyst removed from my chest at UT dermatology by Dr Allison Legler. She did a great job and to my surprise, no scar! So when I noticed a few skin tags around my neck, I gave her office a call. Since my UT appointment her office had moved to the West Knoxville office on Fox Rd. That alone was a bonus, as I live about 3 miles away. I was shocked at all the bad reviews the Dermatology Group got when I went to Yelp to give Dr Allison Legler a review. Personally, had an almost perfect experience. I believe the other reviewers and their experiences, but as I said, my appointment went so smoothly that I felt the need to say something. I got to the appointment on time, signed in, filled out the paperwork, and within 10 minutes they called my name. I was then led to the examination room where I sat for no more that 5 minutes before the Dr came in and started the procedure. I also had a mole on the top of my head that had been worrying me that I had the Dr examine. She told me what sort of mole it was, that it wasn't cancerous, and she then told me she could remove it. I was in and out in less than an hour. Everyone involved was friendly, professional, and efficient. I'm sorry so many others had such bad experiences. But perhaps the people there read the reviews and repaired the numerous issues? Regardless, it was textbook perfect for me. read more

I spent a year with this group who misdiagnosed my skin condition And after trying different treatments, basically said they did all they could do and sent me home with instructions to take biotin. Now I have scarring alopecia (irreversible hairloss). The second opinion I received put me on the right treatment on day one and confirmed by a biopsy. If I had the right treatment early on I would not have had as much hairloss which as a woman in my forties, is devastating. read more

My husband and I have been a patient of Dr. Huddleston's for years. When he retired we continued going to the same office. We have had a mediocre experience. I called today to schedule our biannual skin check appointments and was astonished by the complete lack of professionalism. After 20 minutes of trying to schedule and being told the story of every single provider and why they don't work when I need to come I finally told the scheduler that we would be finding another dermatologist. Do not go to this doctors office. My autistic son and I live an hour away. He had an appointment today at 10:30. We have to ride public transportation and I am physically unable to take him. So my friend, who takes him to all his doctors appointments took him. They left here a little before 8am. They just got back and the doctors office refused to see my son because he isn't my sons legal guardian. I am his only guardian. Because of my disability and my son being a runner I cant take a chance of him escaping and running. Transportation only allows for one person to go with him. Been a patient there for 27 years. I was a patient of one of the founders but he has passed away. Paul Mayben is now my physician. He has diagnose multiple skin issues. I am fair-skinned and I have different types of eczema, rosacea, pilaris keratosis, had precancerous places removed off my face. Also keep an eye on a suspicious mole. They did a biopsy on a weird rash I had on my chest and now it's cleared up. Paul Mayben has been very professional at looking in very embarrassing areas. Being very respectful. The front staff were very courteous when I went in and signed the paperwork. The wait to go back into the room was not much at all and I went back on time. The woman who took my information wasn't too impressed with what I came in there for. I told her about my history with skin cancer and that I'd like the doctor to take a look at some places around my face and arms. Her response was, "That's it?" Seemed like she was condescending. I felt like I was at a cosmetic place rather than a dermatology office. All but one pamphlet in the room I was in was advertising various cosmetic procedures, such as facial peels, Botox, etc. The doctor came in 40 minutes later and quickly evaluated me. He said he would have to get records from my previous doctor and then call me about having my face and arms "treated". He talked about a chemo cream and said they'd be in touch. Two weeks later I haven't heard from them. I guess they don't want my business? I'll be looking for a new dermatologist. read more

As a 37 yr old adult with pretty nice skin, I suddenly got a rash on my face. I was worried about it so I called this group and asked for an appt with the first doctor available. I waited 1 month for my appointment and the day before, someone called me to cancel. I then waited another month to get in with a nurse practitioner. I didn't have to wait long but once in the freezing cold room, the nurse walked in, asked me the problem, gave me a prescription for a cream that costs $950. She removed two moles off my chest, put a tiny bandaid on them and I was do e. This took approximately 10 minutes. She gave me no information and my wounds have been infected since. I'm constantly putting ointment and hydrogen peroxide on them but I can't get them to heal. I'm done with this place. If you enjoy being treated like cattle, this is the place for you! read more

Terrible period! Was misdiagnosed by PA Paul Maben who prescribed antibiotics which I'm glad I did not take. I got a second opinion from a More qualified Doctor and stated that the place just needed to be removed. Doctor also stated you should have never been prescribed antibiotics cause they do nothing with the issue. Long story short always get a more qualified MD not a PA for more accurate diagnosis. Some of these PA's are not trained very well. I do not recommend this this place. Very unprofessional with no true solutions. Do not get treatment from PA Paul Maben unless you want to be misdiagnosed and take unneeded antibiotics...get a second opinion if your gut feeling is that the solution from the provider doesn't sound accurate......crappy service, rude and unprofessional read more

Terrible! PA Paul Maben gave the wrong diagnosis which meant I wasted time off work, co-pay/office visit, price of meds with no true solution. SEE a more Qualified MD not a PA! I do not recommend this place or PA to anyone. Why take a chance of getting misdiagnosed and taking meds you don't need? I've finally had it with this outfit! Every time I go, I have waited at least 30 minutes. Every time. Today I waited an hour and 20 minutes, only to find out the "desk people" had overlooked me and my NA (or PA) had left for lunch. They offered to get me in as soon as she returned in an hour but I was already freezing, had delayed work for a client and was mad. In addition to long waits (one very elderly gentleman next to me waited at least an hour to be seen) and apparent oversights, I find the desk people very curt. I have come to dread even walking into the waiting room because of the unpleasantness of interacting with them. They spout out orders instead of requests -- the unfriendliest bunch I've ever encountered in a doctor's office. Just doing their job, nothing more. It is my opinion that all members of a medical facility should be courteous and friendly. This line-up of "medical professionals" will have no part of such nonsense. Finally, I liked my provider well enough -- very friendly -- but she gave me a very ugly scar, one that, if she had just closed the wound with subcutaneous stitches instead of big old horse (mattress) stitches, I would have a simple thin line. Instead, it's unnecessarily raised, wide and can be seen from across the street! I have worked with physicians and plastic surgeons for a number of years. I know what excellent care and service looks like. You won't find any of that here. read more

I have been seeing a nurse practitioner for about 6 months here, and my frustration with this practice has only increased over time. Although the practitioner's beside manner was good, that's about the only positive thing I have to say about this office. They have required me to get expensive blood tests multiple times out of their office, because despite the considerable size of their practice, they do not have a blood lab. Additionally, beyond the first blood test, having my blood drawn was superfluous and unnecessary, as I have been told by other dermatologists. Additionally, I have had ENORMOUS difficulty with getting prescriptions filled with my insurance company, Cigna, which requires that my prescriptions be filled with their mail-in pharmacy. Knoxville Dermatology group is the only practice I have ever encountered that has been unable to figure out how to call in my prescriptions to my insurance. Overall, the impression I get from the staff and from this practice on whole is one of laziness and incompetence. Once my prescriptions have been filled, if this ever occurs, rest assured I will never be returning to this practice ever again, and I have already begun my search to find a new Knoxville dermatologist. I met with one of the PAs to assess my situation. She was wonderful and had a good bedside manner. How ever I was told she would call with some results in a week and she never did. I got a letter much much later about it instead which was poor communication and she did not keep her word. I should not of paid for the service either, as she did not fully explain what they did was leave a permanent scar. I feel that this was deceptive practice and they do not do what they say. The other issue is the front office staff and the reason I'm writing this review or whoever answers the phone when I always call. I would never recommend anyone go here and I feel horrible every time I call there because the person on the other in the phone is always rude having a really badDay and makes you feel bad for even calling them. This older woman that answers the phone every time is the most horrible person to work with and is costing this practice lots of money. Her lack of professionalism is the very reason I have not gone back and just have my primary care physician write prescriptions for the medicines the Mrs Hageman for me. When you call the physician office it's always hard to get through and deal with insurance in the high cost. But on top of that having to deal with somebody who is straight up rude and that makes you feel bad and stupid for calling in is the very reason why I will never go there I will never recommend this practice, and I will write on every social media outlet I can find to warn people not to ever go here.
