I elected to sit at a booth and order sushi, but the food on the grill beside smelt and looked good. I got the Rainbow Roll, the Dynamite roll and a Kobe roll. Rainbow roll was ok. Dynamite roll was good but different than others I've ordered. The Kobe roll was my favorite. Three rolls and a water for $26. read more

Staying at a nearby hotel on our drive through MS we needed dinner. Wow there are not many good options in this immediate area. Despite the reviews we decided to give this place a shot. Yes it is a bit dingy and worn inside but the food was good. We sat at a booth and did not partake in the hibachi grill menu and show. The service was OK, a bit slow getting the food out even though it was not too busy. I ordered three sushi rolls, the California Roll, the Tempura Shrimp Roll and the Smoked Salmon Box Roll. All were very good and very inexpensive compared to most sushi places. My wife got the hibachi grilled vegetables which came with soup and salad. All were tasty. The only downside is they mischarged me for my beer but they corrected their mistake immediately when we pointed it out. read more

Walked in and my family and they sit us around the grill (dirty). I asked about the grill and was told they use the one on the far side only (also not cleaned well). I asked if all the food was prepared on the grill to order and was told yes. I know the rice is cooked and brought in cold to put on grill, but the rice was not put on grill at all, so I asked for noodles (they were ok). To think, I brought my family from Vicksburg here to eat and it was nothing like it once was... should have known when there was only two people here for lunch, use to have to wait up to 30 minutes. We just moved here from the west coast, and were apprehensive about the Asian food in Mississippi but this place was so good. The customer service was 10 stars. The food was excellent, and very fresh tasting. The place was also very clean. Some other reviews pointed out the building looked old but that's almost every place east of the Mississippi river. I will be coming back often. The prices are also very reasonable, and less than California or Arizona prices. Our waitress was top notch, and one of the best we've had in a long time. Kobe Japanese restaurant can contend with any similar restaurant on the west coast. read more

Kobe Review Atmosphere: it's a small hibachi restaurant. But the chefs are always comical, and they provide much more entertainment at dinner time. Lunch time is a little more rushed because people are in a hurry. Food: ordered the spring rolls, which are always great. That ginger dressing on the salad is one of my favorite dressings anywhere. And I'm not even a huge fan of ginger. But it's balanced perfectly. I ordered chicken hibachi. No doubt that the veggies are my favorite thing on the plate. I love hibachi veggies. First of all if you want fine dining and spotless restaurants, you shouldn't be in Pearl. Kobe is the Waffle House of Hibachis. It's a little dirty. Probably gonna still have that same dead roach in the corner. The wait staff are gonna argue enough to make you assume they are family. California RollBut it's a dive, you aren't coming for the ambiance; you are here bc the food is good! Their soup is the best around hands down. The salad dressing has a great flavor. Not runny or chunky like some other Rankin Co fast food hibachis that I will not name. Their rice has flavor and isn't overly greasy. Meat is actually seasoned with a good sauce. Grilled veggies have an actual variety of veg. Not just carrots or just broccoli. Actual variety: carrots, onions, broccoli, zucchini, mushrooms, etc. Lunch price is great. Dinner price isn't bad. Kobe is a nice place for a cheap quick hibachi lunch. Nothing fancy and it's pretty good food. I recommend this place if you want hibachi for lunch in the area. Most of the staff is very pleasant and friendly. There was on young pregnant waitress that wasn't very pleasant, didn't smile at all and wasn't rude but wasn't nice either. I assumed her attitude was from being on her feet in A MS summer while pregnant. I like that the table doesn't have to be full for them to start preparing you lunch like some hibachi places. Look, my husband and I LOVED this place when it first opened. It was our go-to date night. We moved away several years ago, and I decided to order take-out tonight since we hadn't been there in awhile. I was SHOCKED! The food was horrible! We ordered two hibachi steaks. The steak was a poor cut of meat, completely unseasoned, and dry. There was no sauce that it is usually cooked in, and the meat was flavorless. The rice had no flavor and might as well have been steamed instead of fried rice. We ordered a chicken tempura appetizer, which also had no flavor, was dry, and didn't come with any dipping sauce (it used to come with something like potsticker sauce). My husband said that we should have picked up OEC. It is less than half the price, and you know that you will have a decent meal. I just wanted something that wasn't like "fast food" hibachi take out. Tonight's food from Kobe made OEC seem like an upscale restaurant. Don't waste your money. Oh, and I should have known something was up when I saw a sign behind the register saying "No refunds on food without evidence it was bad." Really? How many people have to complain about your food for you to post a sign like that! But I ignored it because I thought it would be the same quality as years ago. It was so bad that we quit eating after anout a fourth of it, and we didn't even save the leftovers. I originally planned to take my leftovers to work, but it wasn't even worth it. Terrible service. I went there to get some food. I asked for a to-go menu because I was about to order but had to step outside (1:56 p.m.) I came in at 2. I tell the waitress my order she go "We close." I say "okay why would you give me a menu if you're about to close?" She goes "well you asked!" Very rude! Will never go back. read more

The food was good but the waitress was loud and obnoxious with the other waitress. Both waitresses are young. One was yelling at the other about something personally then they both ran off stomping their feet laughing l. They talked loud and were inconsiderate of the customers in their conversation. I have been going to Kobes once a month since it open. I really want the owners or managers of KOBES in Pearl to know. How disappointed I am with one of your chef, Tom or HO, the waitress did not know his name. It started when he got to the table, I had put two little bowls in front of me for the yum yum sauce. He got mad. He was worried about running out bowls. I asked if he knew how to make a sauce with garlic and teriyaki, I guess he did not understand, he made me so upset, I could not eat. The waitress told him that I was not happy with him so he said "oh well, I got paid for it anyway" I did not ask anything comp or wrote off. I just want that chef to learn how to treat customers. I get takeout sushi from this place every weekend and have never been disappointed. I recommend the yellow tail roll,it's awesome. Also shrimp tempura roll is great if you prefer cooked sushi. This was our first time visiting Kobe. It was kind of a confusing experience. When we walked in, we were not asked if we wanted sushi or hibachi but we instead were sat at a hibachi table with 4 other guests who had already ordered. The chef was already preparing the rice. The waitress handed us menus and before we could really even look through them asked us 3 times if we were ready to order. Finally, I told her that we had never been here before and needed a minute to which she explained the menu. By this time, we had rice on our plates. Our daughter wanted sushi. She ended up getting fried rice and a California roll. We got hibachi steak and hibachi scallops, which comes with salad, soup, rice, and vegetables. The soup was very good. The salad dressing was a little too sweet and thick for our liking. The rice was good, but since we got it before we even ordered it was cold by the time we got our meat and vegetables. The vegetables were good. The steak needed more seasoning and was cut in too large of chunks. The scallops had no taste, and I don't think they were real, maybe punched out shark? The entertainment of the chef was good. The place needs to be cleaned up. The sushi bar was more of a playroom, and not even in operation. This is not were I would go for sushi. read more

My experience at Kobe in Pearl, MS was THE WORST. It took 45 minutes to get our orders to our table. Not only was the food COLD the order was also wrong. My daughter was literally served left overs from the hibachi table next to us. After the cook himself came out and got the orders things seemed fine. Until the person came to take the payment. No lie, this girl did a full on finger tip to elbow snot wipe across her nose with both hands then proceeded to do a full on palm of the hand upward swipe on the nose. NO disinfectant used before she took my card and rang up the sale. I was happy to be out. THEN two days later after the transaction showed up in my bank they HELPED THEMSELVES to an UNAUTHORIZED $20.00 tip. I ordered the filet, but it was given to someone else at the table while I was given that person's steak. When I pointed it out, I was told that I had been served filet but that it was low quality!
