They had an opening and a good rating online, so we decided to go with them. This March (3/2026) as I was freshening up my hot tub for spring, I noticed that only half the jets were working on only one side of the tub. I started troubleshooting what might be the issue and eventually made my way to the electrical box for the hot tub unit. I opened it up and noticed what looked like corrosion on the key/plug. When I pulled it out and gave it a closer look, I noticed that 3/4 main wires were completely fried or corroded. Yikes, that is probably the issue. When I called Mr. Electric's service center, I was met with no concern (Oh my, that doesn't sound good - yeah, you think?) and no offer to come out and inspect the work and then repair the issue (past the warranty period), just that another technician could come out and do the repair work for us. Why would I pay for your techs to come out when I'm experiencing shoddy work from you guys already? I pay a professional to do the job right, the first time around, so that I don't have to get things re-done and spend more money. With the track record I already had with them, I opted to not re-hire. I instead went with my main HVAC/electrical/plumbing company who came out and repaired and cleaned everything up (and stands by their work every time). When talking to the electrician who came out, he mentioned the reason this whole thing happened was because the wires were not tightened correctly during the initial install, one of the wires became loose overtime, overheated and then fried the other ones. The box that housed the electrical unit was closed and always locked with a padlock (so that my kids wouldn't open it up and messed around with it). When I mentioned that to the electrician, he said it was probably a poor install from the get-go. I'm so glad I caught it when I did, I hate to think the harm this incompetent install could have caused to my house and family. Not sure if those loose & overheated wires could have caused a house fire but I wouldn't want to risk it regardless. I will never hire this company again.

To avoid more costs and potentially more problems, I called in another company. Within 10 minutes, they found faulty wiring of the new dryer outlet and breaker, then found that the "new" breaker for the washer was not new but faulty as well. I gave Affordable Electric the opportunity to reimburse me for the $1200 cost to fix their errors, but they responded with lots of excuses. So, please be careful if you call these guys. They caused me more harm than good AND were not affordable.

This process in the past has led to some electricians to try and charge us $800 to to replace a normal outlet. Not install, just take out an outlet and replace it. We got a handyman to do it for about $50. Affordable Electric went beyond the pale. We are only asking to replace a 120V outlet with a 220V one in order to replace our gas stove with an induction stove. Their "quote" had a listed item of $1300 that just described the job. No number of hours estimates, what the parts were nothing. This is a huge scam. He was amazing--kind, patient, reasonably priced, and available the very same day. As someone new to the area, I was thrilled to have finally found "my electrician." Fast forward to September 2026. I called them back out for an estimate on some new work. While the technician was at my house, he asked if I was getting other quotes, and I openly told him I was getting three. Because their estimate matched another company and I valued our past relationship, I chose Randy's. During their final visit, I asked for a quick quote to add an outlet onto a regular wall by pulling power straight up from an existing, parallel outlet below it. It is a very straightforward, 20-minute job. I have paid $150 for this exact service in the past, and a quick Google search confirmed the standard rate is around $250 to $300. Imagine my absolute shock when the technician quoted $724.85!! When he saw my stunned reaction, he said, "Let me see what I can do," tapped around on his screen, and lowered it to $608. He also quoted me roughly $500 just to hang two vanity lights that were already fully wired and just needed to be connected--another basic 20-minute task. My husband came home about 15 minutes later and was incensed. He asked the technician how he could possibly justify those numbers and firmly told him he was trying to take advantage of me. Once again, the technician said, "Let me see what I can do," pushed a few buttons on the iPad, and suddenly dropped the outlet price to $300ish--less than half of the original quote!! My husband pointed out the obvious: he was just arbitrarily making up numbers on the spot to see what he could get away with. The technician tried to lower the price even further, but at that point, we were both so disgusted by the dishonest behavior that we told him to finish the originally contracted work and leave. It is incredibly sad to see what used to be a trusted, honest local business turn into a company that actively tries to scam anyone with ridiculously inflated prices.
