So we arranged to have this installed, all good.... But when the guys arrived they let us know that they didn't have the generator with them because it came in dented....this was the same generator the John Anderson and his sales technics told me I better move quick or it might be gone... but the guys in the truck said it just got delivered the day before. Already off to a bad start! My husband and taken the day off to be around to keep the dogs away from the guys to only need to take 2 TWO more days off for this. These guys came, stomped all over my new landscaping plants, bent my brand new seamless gutters, nobody said anything. A week later the "new" generator came in and I truly don't even know if either crews were actual electricians because there work was sloppy maybe they were the scraps off the bench, not impressed. They did get everything done and yes it works but...... I cannot tell you how many phone calls, emails and text messages I had sent to John the "owner" with zero response back. 3 months later they needed to close out the electric permit, another day off. This was without a doubt the worst experience I have ever had with the workmanship and the customer service. I would NEVER recommend this company and John is a joke! Purchased a 13k Generator from this company. They wouldn't come to the house in advance due to covid, but they were ok sending the two technicians' to install it. They butchered my main electrical box in my garage. They moved the most important breakers on the outside of my house where it is unsecured along the garage. They told me it was a transfer switch. After realizing this I attempted to contact them and the office personnel keep telling me someone will get back to me. Its been 5 weeks and I've contacted them once a week and no answer. This is the worst customer service I ever dealt with. I just filed a claim with the Better Business Bureau and plan to sue them in small claims court to get my electrical box repaired before winter. These guys were great! The owner came over the same day I requested a quote, answered all my questions and explained how everything would work. Asked me if I wanted enough power to run everything, including my central air. I told him my AC was not a priority during a typical 1-2 day power outage so he recommended a less expensive but still powerful generator. Zero sales pressure. The generator starts automatically when you lose power so you don't have to do a thing which is the way I like things. Ten days after I ordered it the installers came over and they couldn't have been nicer. Did everything in about 5 hours and now I'm ready for the next storm. Didn't get proper permits before completing work Didn't pass inspection for mechanical permit. Very poor work. Installation of ventilation fan for bathroom. Midwest would not come out to fix this, my husband emailed with the president and could not get them to repair the work. A few weeks after they installed we turned on the fan and all the overhead lights went out. Midwest stated they could not come fix this for a week. Called other electricians who told us Midwest needs to be the one to fix. Midwest came out and charged us again to fix. Had to call the city (mechanical permit) and the state department of labor (electrical permit) to find that Midwest had not gotten the proper permits to complete this work despite stating that they would do so. The man at the dept of labor didn't seem surprised about the complaint against Midwest. He got them to refund the money for fixing the power outage as we should not have been charged for this. Midwest had another company we never heard of (Practical Systems) get the mechanical permit so that when it didn't pass inspection it was on Practical Systems rather than Midwest (almost like they knew it wouldn't pass inspection). During the inspection the city inspector specifically told us not to fix the work in the winter as it is not the proper time to work on shingles. Midwest wanted to come out to fix in January, we asked them to please wait until spring. After all the trouble we had my husband took off the day from work to be here when they did the repair. The technician called in sick and they couldn't send anyone else. We paid over $1,000 for this terrible job. Never refunded a single penny of the original work. read more

They installed a Generac fall-back at our town-home in mid-July. Very professional staff and installation. So far everything is in place and working fine. Haven't had to depend on it during a power outage yet, but the automatic test runs are going off fine. The unit is very hi-tech with everything automatic. It's permanently connected, runs on natural gas (or propane), starts and shuts down automatically during a power failure automatically. During an outage, I wouldn't want to be doing a hookup, pouring in fuel and starting it myself. It wasn't cheap though, but if you want a permanent installation and can afford it, it's the way to go. read more

Very unhappy with Midwest Electric & Generator. I indicated, when scheduling the service call, that the gas needed to be drained from the generator. Supposedly, this was not communicated to the tech that came out. He said he would have to come back later and take the generator to the shop and that I would be charged another $160 fee for the additional call. Talk about BAIT and SWITCH. I decided to cancel the whole thing. The tech said I would not be charged for the initial call as he was only there for a few minutes. However, I was billed for $160. I sent them $50 in good faith and told them I didn't intend to pay the rest. Now, they've turned it over to a collection agency and the payoff is $219.70. Very unethical. I paid 169 to have someone come out to look at a problem he apparently fixed it and left with in 30 min. The next day the breaker sounds worse than before they came in. I called to get someone back in to look at it but was told i need to pay another 169 to have someone come out! On top of that they are telling me the whole breaker box needs to be change which will cost 1000K so these guys fixed nothing, made it worse and when I called them told me about a completely different thing than was I was told the day off?
