Several spines went into his heel through his beach shoes, and we played doctor by searching the Internet for symptoms and treatments. We got some vinegar at the store and soaked his foot, but couldn't remove the spines due to them being highly brittle. Things seemed ok, but later my son complained of pain while walking around Ali'i Drive, so we knew we had to resort to an expert just to make sure. A quick search led us to Aloha Kona Urgent Care which was close by and we're so glad we found this place! We just walked in without an appointment - fortunately we took the last spot of the day! We were welcomed by a nice receptionist, then seen by the friendly and funny Nico (sp?) from Germany who started a vinegar soak for him, and then finally Dr. Kim saw us. I so appreciated the patience they all provided, and the expert care and thorough explanations! I'm happy to say that things are much better now with my son's foot, as expected. Upon entering, I was immediately greeted at the front desk, by the same very nice and most courteous lady who gave me the 9:45 am appointment on the phone earlier. Her name was Eunika. Everyone behind the front desk was wearing a face mask, and I was also given one to wear. In less than two minutes, I was seen by a nurse, and then by a doctor soon afterwards. She was Sherlyn, who was most gentle with all the routine examination and care. The doctor was Loi Chang-Stroman, who listened well and was generous with his explanation, which included a bar graph to show me what I can expect my insect bites to look like in the next few days. We tried to get an appointment with a podiatrist, but first available appointments were going to be more than a week. We hoped that Minit Urgent Care would be able to help him and so we made an appointment. Our nurse practitioner, Tina Beckham, came in and evaluated his toe, asked some questions, and explained the procedure that would resolve his issue with this ingrown toenail, though it will require some time to heal. She was very confident and knowledgeable. She gave him 2 shots to numb his toe and then did the procedure. Post procedure, he is much improved. We had a very pleasant experience with everyone at Minit U.C., from the receptionist to our nurse practitioner. We will not hesitate to return here on future vacations if the need arises. Oh - with our np's level of knowledge and evident experience treating ingrown toenails, I asked her how often she has to do this particular procedure. She stated that she has done it too many times to count and estimated that she does this very procedure, on average, once every two weeks!! Well, this review was a little longer than I expected - but, based on our experience, we highly recommend Minit Urgent Care.

When I arrived at the Xray facility, she had requested only lower x-rays. So I returned to the clinic to ask for the promised, full spinal x-ray she had promised. She refused to do it. And when I kindly asked her why, she refused to answer, and instead repeated her refusal , turned her back and walked away. I was shocked! It's my belief that no patient should ever be treated with that level of disrespect and lack of care.

Then on a different date I took my daughter there for what we thought was eczema. Yet again, we were treated as if they knew her for years. So not only did they treat my children medically, but the staff were all so very sincere, loving, and attentive.
