Dear Kohls Customer Service, I just saw your response on Facebook. I appreciate your listening. My issues with todays visit are two-fold: A. Lack of Customer Service B. Lack of carts At any given time that I have visited Kohls in Bakersfield, CA, I have seen at most 4 shopping carts that accommodate a child. I have a 20 month old and over the last 20 months, I have gone to this Kohl's a few times when no child friendly carts were available. I have followed parents out to the parking lot on several occasions in hopes of getting these "prized" carts. The above description is on a normal slow day including all week days. I usually dont even bother going on weekends because of the long lines, few attendants, and almost always no carts. Today, Friday, April 26, 2013, I ventured into the Kohl's in Bakersfield, CA at approx. 3:45 after going to Cost Plus World Market. In the parking lot itself, I saw many carts that had not been put back or gathered. I walked into Kohls and looked around and found no carts - not kid friendly carts nor the regular ones. I walked to the other side of the store to find the same thing. No carts. At this point, I walked up to the register and asked 1 of 2 representatives whether there are any other carts available. I was told to go to the other side of the store as they are all taken it seems. At this point, I walked back to the other side of the store. I saw a lady with no kids walking around with a kid friendly cart. Instead of approaching her myself, I went up to the register again and talked to the representative. I asked her if there were any carts available. Her response was no it seems they are all taken but you can check on the other side. I proceeded to ask her if she would facilitate the exchange of a regular cart ( 1 of which was available because the customer at the register was checking out with 1 small bag) with a kid friendly one. At this point the representative smirked and said, we cant go upto a customer and snatch a cart and give it to you. She proceeded to tell me that I can take this cart ( Which clearly says no children to be kept in the cart) and exchange it with that lady if I want. I asked her how to do that with my toddler in my hands. She just shrugged. At this point, I just walked away as it was futile to even discuss getting a shopping cart with the representatives. I walked over to the customer service desk and asked for the number to corporate office. The girl at the customer service asked if I would like to speak to the manager and I agreed. When the manager showed up, she did not give a friendly vibe or a smile or anything to calm me down. I narrated the last part of the situation about the representative telling me about the snatching of the cart. I also told her that no help was offered by anyone throughout this process. I was asked to take a regular cart and approach a customer myself. I told her that if I have a toddler in my hands and I put him in a regular cart where it clearly says that no kids allowed, I would've gotten yelled at and besides there should have been some help offered in getting a cart. She responded by saying that the word snatched should not have been used but that they cannot assist in getting a cart even if it is exchanging it because it is an intrusion on the privacy of customers. At this point, I just walked away from Kohls in Bakersfield, CA. Very disappointed. Your motto expect great things.. does not fit at all. If the management and employees are rude and if the management and employees think that something as basic as a cart ( which there is a lack of for normal and child friendly carts) is a privilege to have in this store, I don't want to go spend my money there. I have been to many stores where I could not find a cart and at each one of those stores, the first mention of it got the attention of a customer rep who contacted one of the staff and they arranged to get carts either from the parking lot or somewhere else. Just to give you an idea of how this basic issue over the last 20 months has affected my spending habits at kohls. I used to shop at kohls atleast once a month. But because of this ongoing issue of not having shopping carts of any kind available, I have been going there at most once in 4 months. Needless to say, I wont be going at all. read more

Kohl's is blah. The staff here obviously doesn't want to be here, except for one person (more on that in a minute). It's so disorganized in here and there is always a super long line with not enough checkers. The girl ringing us up didn't even know how to handle the $200 men's dress jacket we were buying, nor could she find the stupid price tag on it. Maybe she was new, but I think they need to do some better training all around. They get two stars because this one nice woman (I wish I could remember her name), helped us last Friday (12/14/12). She looked in the back for a certain dress shirt we were looking for, and then spent a good 10 minutes trying to help us find something similar in the men's section when she realized there weren't any more in the back of the shirt my stepdad wanted. Erm, this review is really jumbled and I'm distracted writing it, but hopefully you'll get the gist. read more

Extremely rude cashiers on the afternoon I was there (8/29/19). Very poor customer service skills. When there is only one cashier who has a problem transaction, she should call for assistance when a line starts forming. Instead, after ten minutes still helping the same customer, and no employee seeming to care that there was a line forming, one customer politely asked the cashier if she could call up another cashier. The pissed off look that cashier gave the customer was way out of line. Then the cashier turned toward the service/returns desk and yelled out that a customer wants somebody else there "right now". A few minutes later, another cashier opened, helped one customer, and then the customer who initially asked for another cashier tried to explain to the new cashier that she had not said she wanted another cashier right now and just made a request for help, and she didn't appreciate the way the first cashier had responded. The new cashier, rather than apologizing for the wait, instead defended the first cashier and told the customer that's how they are trained. Really? They're trained to be rude? When I finally got to the new cashier, she couldn't help me because she had to go help the first cashier who was still struggling to complete the same transaction . I commented that it probably isn't a great idea to have someone in training working alone, and the new cashier replied that she wasn't new and told me I shouldn't be so rude. (Sorry, I assumed she was in training because now, 15+ minutes later she still couldn't complete a transaction). Again, rather than apologize for the wait, the new cashier became defensive and rude back to me. When I left the store, the first cashier was STILL trying to complete the transaction after 20 minutes. Most any other retail store I've ever been in, the employees are aware when there is a problem at checkout and step up to open additional checkout stations over other tasks. At the very least, proper customer service skills would have employees apologizing and trying to create a positive interaction rather than being confrontational. And I don't fault the first cashier taking a long time to help someone with a unique problem. Things happen. But the response to that situation was the problem. read more

Every time that I have gone to kohl's the store was very messy and there were clothes everywhere and the restroom was very gross and smelled like urine and the staff was very rude and kept following me around the store while I was shopping and made me feel very uncomfortable and I asked a question about a product and they were very putout over me asking a I felt like they were very unprofessional over all I will not be coming back here again and I don't recommend anyone go back here again. read more

Kohls, good place to shop, huge variety, good prices, clean, good location and good customer service.

I would likely give them five stars if they could ever figure out how to get me out of the store faster at check out. Every time you wait in line to check out, it feels like no matter how slow the store is, you cannot get through their line in less than five minutes. I like the rewards program they offer here. It's basically 5% back on your purchases. I like that they almost always have a coupon or sale and that you can usually stack these discounts. Using that alongside their clearance can yield some pretty nice threads at a low price. The store is usually clean. It isn't always as organized as I would like it to be, but it works for them and I can usually find what I need when I want something. read more

It's messy and not well stocked, but that's no different than any other Kohls.

Had never been here before. This is not a huge dept store but I did like the selection very much in most departments! And open until 11pm! I especially loved the area for kitchen (Bobby Flay cookware! $$$), candles, SHOES, lots of shoes... 80% off whatever Xmas stuff they had there... If you need toys, this is your place. Ladies' clothes - not the best selection but I did discover some new Lauren Conrad collections that I liked. Do not expect staff to come and ask you if you need help - you will have to be proactive if you need assistance.Esp. if you need a fitting room. They are a mess, full of clothing and there is no one to help/monitor this area. Service at the cash was good though, friendly and informative. With the exception of one gal running the watch counter = not nice! I found some of the prices to not be clear on some products - but there were a lot of sales posted at each area. I wish they had more of those electric price scanners hanging throughout the store so you could see yourself the final price on things. Very useful and I am glad they had some that worked. Overall, we found good deals. not hard to drop a couple of hundred bucks here. BUT, we got $30 cashback just like that as long as we come back next week... and for every $100, you get another bonus of $5 by signing up for their rewards program with your e-mail. I see myself coming here again for home decor. (Not super busy on weeknights) Lots of parking too. read more

Kohl's is still aiiiight. I really do like their Bobby Flay kitchen stuff and added it to my wedding registry. They have some fantastic pieces. They also have a great appliance selection too! One thing that made me angry yesterday was when looking for a comforter in a queen size (and all this store carried was a cal king, and none are available online)...if you call to find it at another store they will NOT ship it to you. You have to drive to pick it up. I can't believe that in this day and age. Additionally, I had a porcelain dish shipped to my house that someone ordered online off of my registry and it arrived packaged so poorly that it was broke in transit and I had to take it back to the store to get a replacement. So, overall they just suck at shipping! read more

I don't listen to what everyone else has to say about anything that is basically a free place to come in from the heat or out of the cold.. whatever. I go and look around. I usually end up buying something I never thought I would like or need and I've never had a problem with it- So that's probably why the store was messy or the ppl were busy- bcz their items sell! I love shopping. Hands down. So for me to give this store 4 stars is quite the compliment. I have been shopping at Kohl's for several years now. I can't remember when they arrived in Bakersfield, but I have always given them my business ever since discovering the great savings you can get there. This Kohl's location is in Rosedale located near several other great shops. It is easily accessible from several entrances into the shopping center both from Rosedale Highway and Calloway. The parking lot is also fairly huge although all the stores share it. Kohl's has tons of savings embedded in their shopping experience, which I love! You can get anywhere from an additional 15-30% off from mailers, plus earn Kohl's Cash ($ off in $10 increments) for every $50 spent. They also dropped a points-based program where you earn $ off coupons for every 100 points earned. The store is not the cleanest, but they do their best. I like to shop RIGHT after work around 5pm for the smallest crowd. read more

So happy they have reopened since the shutdown. There is a good selection of clothing. The only drawback is the fitting rooms are closed, making it a challenge to make purchases. Just so happy they're open though. read more

I went for a shopping experience, instead I was greeted to find my own shopping cart. I asked 2 workers about a cart that had a child seat in the front, because the only one that was out was broken and I couldn't use it for my daughter. The associates told me to go out to the parking lot to search for an unknown cart because they are limited in stock. Lol I laughed and told them I would not be fetching a cart on the parking lot and I didn't come to do their job. I wish stores would have better customer service. So sad these days no one willing to help. read more

In this tight economic times it is nice to have a store that offers many discounts and has a liberal return policy. They seem to have plenty of clerks and will often take expired coupons and Kohls cash. I am sometimes frustrated by the lack of carts however, if customers would return them to the store this would not be a problem. Today when I had a return the clerk in the Jewlery Dept. was very helpful and even told me how to easily return something purchased on Amazon. read more

Worst customer service ever. Three days before Christmas and they only have two registers open...and over 20 people in line. Unreal.

In the past I would have left a higher rating. One of the things I liked best about Kohls is that they open at 8. Gives time to get the kids to school and do a bit of shopping before having to be at work. Just found out that they changed their hours to open at 9. Sad to say that given the choice, having to go after work when everyone is open I will make the choice to shop elsewhere on many occasions. read more

I always love kohls. This place is one of the better ones as they are more organized and great customer service.

I love this store!! Prices are great and the deals you get with the card is awesome, only thing is they always need more checkers.

So over it, 5 times this year got home with security tag still on an item I bought. I always ask associate to double check, they look at me like I am being rude, I explain trust me it happens to me all the time, so now just got home to put my newly bought leggings on for a date and of course!!! Damn security tag is on it!!!! I am beyond frustrated with this at the Rosedale hwy store. When I go back it is barely an acknowledgement of the trouble and inconvenience. I can't be the only one so why don't they try to do better? They should make the associate that leaves it on take a new training class every time, I bet it would change things!!!! read more

Some of these employees are rude. Feels like i'm being stalked every time i shop here with how much they watch you like a hawk. I like Kohls and the clothes quality and comfort is nice, but this particular store is a little disorganized. In this particular case, I was looking for men's graphic tees. The shelves where they have the shirts was so messy and disorganized it was hard to find anything. Shirts were not put together like they should, so it was really hard to find the style and size you are looking for. It took three times as long to find the shirt I was looking for because I had to search every pile until I found what I was looking for. The staff was very helpful and friendly and the store in general seemed very clean (no clothes on the floor). read more

I have been a Kohls shopper for many years. It isn't my nature to make a complaint but feel I just have to address this. I am a large woman and in the past have found many nice things for my wardrobe. However, I rarely shop for clothes at the store on Rosedale anymore due to the fact that all the clearance clothing get shoved into the Woman's Dept. Hangers and clothing are all over the place, you can't browse thru any of it because it is packed in too tight. There isn't a large selection to choose from but it is made even more difficult by all the clearance merchandise shoved in there. I resent it. It sends a message that we are not worthy of respect. I have to wonder why other departments have a larger areas in which to display their items but not the Woman's Dept. read more

I have always loved kohls since it opened. I am a card holder for the great % off coupons. Lines are much shorter than in the past, cashiers are knowledgeable and always ask if you have a coupon. You can always find great deals, especially on the 70-80% off racks. Hit them up for off season clothes for the kids!! Parking is always good and hours makes it easy to swing on by. read more

You can't use coupons on certain things even when they are not listed on the coupon. They use to always have ones to use. Bye Kohls you lost a faithful customer. Also don't ever order from kohls.com I ordered my husband Nike shoes and woman's heels came in. read more

Staff was watching me & my family & made us feel extremely uncomfortable. They weren't just watching us, but were making it very obvious & known.. They followed us around the store folding towels & clothes that were already folded just finding things to do that make them look "busy" as they followed us. We shop there quite often but certainly won't be returning. I feel I was being racial profiled. If you are a Latin American of some decent I don't recommend bringing your family here. Sad because I put all my children's back to school clothes back & went somewhere else. read more

First of Kohls as a store in it's own is good. But their security is lacking in training. I was falsely accessed of stealing, simply because I did not have my I'D with me but had my Kohls charge card and several more other cards in my name. I get irate and the Lp(loss prevention) shows up he escorts me out I am leaving and he says I am taking sunglasses that is on my shirt. I tell him in not taking these I'm still in your store so I threw them on the ground. He files a report saying I left the store with them. I go to court to ask for the video but have to wait. I am banned from all 3 Bakersfield stores as a result I have cancelled my credit card with Kohls it is a shame they have had my business over 10 years and I am repaid by being racially profiled. By the cashier who called l.p. then by the dumb l.p. who wanted to look big and bad I hope they both get fired for the mistreatment of people! read more

I'm starting to really like Kohl's. I always get scratchers and lately the service has been better. They are making shopping more fun.

The customer service is a joke, the line for returns is 10 people deep, and the keep calling for all available cashiers. But in the 15 minutes I've been standing in line no one has showed up and I have visibly observed 3 employees hide so the won't have to work!!!!
