I recently stopped by Men's Wearhouse in Bakersfield after working in the yard. I was dressed casually in shorts and a cutoff tank top, but I was there to shop. As a pastor, I wear suits multiple times every week and regularly purchase dress clothing. Unfortunately, no one in the store greeted me, offered assistance, or even acknowledged me while I was shopping. I felt completely overlooked. The female employees appeared uninterested, moved very slowly, and came across as unfriendly. It honestly felt like I was being judged based on my appearance rather than treated like a customer. To make matters worse, after purchasing a suit jacket, it was simply folded up and placed in a bag rather than being put on a hanger and in a garment bag. For a store that specializes in men's formalwear, I expected better care for the merchandise I was purchasing. A customer's appearance shouldn't determine the level of service they receive. Some of your best customers may walk in dressed casually after work, the gym, or yard work. Everyone deserves to be treated with courtesy and professionalism. Overall, a very disappointing experience. I purchased what I came for, but the lack of customer service and attention to detail makes me think twice about returning. read more

The way they speak to a customer is utterly RUDE!!!! They can't even remember what they tell you over the phone and then say "that's what I just said". Tried to have a zipper repaired but after going back & forth they FINALLY tell me what they were trying to say and that was that their alteration person said that she couldn't find one long enough for what was needed. If it was a simple hem or repair, PERHAPS they MIGHT BE ABLE to do it. However that should have been told to me long before the pick-up date. read more

I purchased a pair of pants and wore them twice. I also washed them twice using the washing instructions on the label. The stitching on the front pockets began to loosen and eventually started to come apart. I went to the Bakersfield store on Ming Ave and spoke with the store manager , who stated it was company policy that prevented me from exchanging the pants due to my wearing the pants and not having the tag attached. I have been a long time customer at the Men's Wearhouse and have never heard of this policy. I spoke to the customer service representative on their 800 line. I received the same information. I wish Mens Wearhouse would post this policy at their store. Please share your similar experience to get the Mens Wearhouse to post their policy. I will longer shop at the Mens Wearhouse. My experience overall was okay. My fiancé and I are on a budget for our wedding. As we all know weddings are extremely expensive and will do anything to save. We were wanting to pick out a dress shirt and tie for my fiancé. The customer service was slightly rude and sassy. My fiancé kindly asked a worker any other options he rudely said "I gave that one to you for a reason. We don't have any other choices." I was confused and shocked in his tone of voice. I haven't had a new suit since my older sister's first wedding 20 years ago. Two spouses and 60 pounds later, it was time to go shopping. My lovely wife and I came into the Men's Warehouse on a recent Wednesday evening with the intent of finding something that fits, getting an idea of what my measurements are, and quickly leaving to go shop online for something cheaper before being guilted into buying something. The mission failed. But that's okay! After just a few minutes of browsing we were greeted by a very kind and knowledgeable gentleman named Howard. Howard complimented the jacket I was trying on and remarked that I had picked the perfect size. He pulled out his tape measure and confirmed this before asking what occasion I was shopping for. After getting some details, he suggested a better-looking (and less expensive!) option that looked great. My wife was beaming with pride. I actually felt kinda handsome. Howard confirmed my measurements once again and helped me pick a nice shirt that worked with my humongous beer belly, long arms, and walrus sized neck. Sold! This was too easy, and there was no pressure. I spent a few bucks more than I had planned, but I was out of there in 20 minutes and feeling sharp. read more

In the Bakersfield store tonight, I was greeted at the door by a very friendly and helpful young lady named Selena. I explained I needed a suit quickly for a very important job interview, and she proceeded not only to show me what would fit, but gave me sound advice on the best fashion look for a job interview. I was blown away! In less than 30 minutes, she had assembled my outfit, and put me first on the next morning's to-do list for the store's tailor (I had a flight at Noon the next day)! I will not only be shopping again at Mens Wearhouse, I'll be calling ahead to make sure Selena is working on the day I go. My advice: give her a raise, and an award for above-and-beyond customer service. Very unprofessional! As soon as you walk in it smells like moth balls. Very outdated. The staff threw clothes at me to try on not even taking any of my measurements and it was so baggy which I told the lady. She pretty much said too bad and seemed annoyed at me as soon as I got there. Ordered a suit to be a groomsmen in a wedding. Suit came in, I went in to try it on, paid for the alterations to be made, and was supposed to be done by today. Called them today to check the status of the suit...AND THEY HAVE LOST IT!!! Not a tie, not a pair of suspenders, THEYVE LOST AN ENTIRE SUIT. Mind you, alterations are done in house, so they have misplaced a suit in the time it took them to walk it from the register to the back room. I have always taken my son here to get tuxedos for prom or formals. The fitting staff have always been professional and courteous. The visit this time was to purchase some dress clothes for my husband. Fortunately, they were having a GREAT sale. Margo my sales associate was very helpful. She made some color combinations that I would have never thought of. They looked fabulous! We ended up with 2 jeans, 2 blazers, 4 collared shirts, 4 pull overs, and 2 dress pants all for $1,300.00. Immediately, we were greeted by a nice gentleman who instantly broke out the tape measurer and started measuring my compadre. The employee started pulling out jackets and shirts that he felt would look great and they really did! He was very knowledgable and extremely helpful. While he was getting measured I looked around at stuff. There was a nice selection of dress shoes and also some casual shoes too. They have a big selection Of polo shirts for golfing also. An enormous selection of ties and dress slacks. We did not purchase from here. But may soon. Still looking around for the perfect ensemble. Update: I'm really sad about this, but I have to drop my rating of this business. I was thinking of givi9ng a one star, but hey do have e good suits for fair prices. When you buy a suit here, they are supposed to provide the free service of steam pressing the suit for you free of charge. This is part of their enticement for you to buy their products. I took my suits there a few days back, left them, when I got home with the suits after having left them for pressing, I got ion the house and the suits were not touched. I cants' believe it. Also, when I bought the suits they were supposed to have done alterations for me, but when we showed up (needing the suit for a wedding) only half the alterations were done. I chalked it up to a common and innocent mistake, but now I think it is the tailors there not really caring about timelines and the needs of customers. I'll buy my suits elsewhere next time. I hate spending big money for not just suits, but service, and all I get is the sits and bad service. I'm very disappointed. read more

I have been coming to Mens Wearhouse off and on for about 18 years. It's funny after 18 years to walk in and see Andy who was the sales rep that helped me on my very first visit still working there. He should be the owner of the store. It has been several years since I have been due mostly to a career change.If you ever go there you should ask for is assistance. He is not only a great sales person, he also makes you feel at home. I walked in about 30 minutes later had a new suit and tie for my step sons wedding. I was on a little bit of a crunch on needing the suit altered before Saturday and this was not an issue at all. Great experience!!! read more

My son went to rent his first suit for formal. We explained up front we did not k ow what we were doing. They did not explain the process or how things should fit. The proper way to wear the items. Just handed him try on clothes and asked how they fit. Didn't check for proper fit NOTHING. He ended up with a shirt that was to short and tight in his mid section. I would like to first start off by saying the staff in this store have always been very friendly every time I have shopped there. All the staff I met are always helpful, courteous and respectful. My issue with this store is in regards to the tailoring. I've purchased a couple of items at this store for my son, and both times they've had to readjust the tailoring after it was supposed to be completed. On this most recent visit, I purchased a suit jacket and a pair of pants for $475. I wanted the pants tailored for a full break with a cuff at the bottom. When we returned to the store after the tailoring was complete. The pants were too short. The staff gladly took them to the back and corrected the length of the pants. Unfortunately, the pants no longer had a cuff at the bottom like I requested. The staff reported that once they took out the correct length, they no longer had enough material to cuff the pants. What is the point of measuring someone at the beginning of the process and asking the customer their preferences, only to not complete them properly the first time and loosing the customers request all together? read more

Steer clear of this place. I wish I would have used a local company for my wedding tuxes. First my dad and brother go in to get fitted and there is 1 person working in the store. So this person is trying fit my dad and brother and then leaving to go help any other person that walks in. My dad was beyond irritated after being there way longer than he should have and then asks to use the restroom. Naturally the bathrooms are not available due to c0vid for some bs reason and was recommended to go use the toilet at subway. Next I go in to get my sons and 2 other groomsman fitted today and this guy is guarding the door not allowing people who need to get fitted into the store claiming the power is out. The lights are on in the store so I ask we could get fitted and if the measurements can just be inputted later? This person was rude as hell and just says to come back in an hour. I asked again if they could just write down the measurements? He would accommodate us even though by the time everyone got fitted we probably would have been there well over an hour. Bottom line is men's warehouse is very unprofessional and rude. Wish I would have used another company. read more

Short and Simple, HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Walked in monday looking to purchase a suit for the weekend and wasn't even acknowledged. There were 2 employee's 1 busy with a customer and the other just walking around. After walking looking around for 5-10 minutes they finally came up to me and asked if i needed help. I informed them i wanted to purchase a suit for the weekend, the agent was quick to say they were 3 weeks out and that i should have come in sooner. I told him i wasn't picky to show me what he had in stock. His attitude was super negative throughout the process. New customers would walk in and he would run to help them out. After about an hour of being there and trying out suits and choosing one that would be available within the time frame i had, he rung me for 1000.00 for a suit that wasn't even name brand which included jacket, vest, pants, and a button up. I told him that was out of my budget and i thanked him for his time. He then proceeded to say he could give me a 40% coupon and it would be 675$ still out of my budget but thought it was odd how fast he dropped the priced from 1000 to 675. He was rude and unprofessional and said i would not find anything in time for the weekend. I went to Fino's Menswear the next morning at 11am, had the exact same suit in stock had me fitted and out by noon with a full suit, jacket, vest, pants, button up, tie and shoes for under 500$ read more

Oh if I could give negative stars, I would. Where do I begin? Do I begin with my own wedding and how they lied about the rental prices by putting the higher quality brand rather than the one we ORDERED. Or the fact that they LIED when they said that the socks and suspenders were free for all of the groomsmen and charged them anyway. Oh and what about when I tried to confront them about it, they tried to convince me it was a different location. Or what about a SEPARATE wedding my husband was part of? He was forced to pay for a rush fee. Wedding was in 2 weeks and he was told it would only take 2 days for the rental to arrive. So why pay a rush fee? Hmm, struggling business maybe? Wonder why! Oh the best part? When he tried to return the tux 2 days after the wedding, they tried to charge him a late fee! They said 20 bucks for every day late. Seriously? They knew the wedding was in Tehachapi and that we wouldn't be returning to town until Monday. 2 days and it's late? Wow. Unbelievable. I have been purchasing suits from MW for years in the Bay Area and SoCal. And now, I have purchased a few suits over the years at this store. For the most part, the service has been pretty good but there are a couple of workers that are not as friendly and professional. Depending on who you get, you will have to initiate and guess on what suits and styles you need. They do a great job with their alterations and fitting. They have a pretty good selection of ties and other accessories. The price point is good but you will not find major designer name brands you may or may not be looking for but they do have great sales during holidays. Absolutely horrible customer service!!!!!!! This is the worst suit shop on the planet. I came here to pick up my suit. I was trying it on and the lady who was helping me was absolutely rude. I asked if I could get something a little more fitted. She immediately squeezed the bicep area and said look it will become tight. What she did not realize was that she was gripping my skin and twisting it very hard and it hurt me. Why would the customer pay to be harassed by an employee. I should in fact sue this place. Let me start with saying that if we only delt with Michael this review would have a 5 star rating. Michael was courteous, polished and understood exactly what my husband was looking for. Here we are at one star thanks to the management skills, condescending tone and being snubbed by the manager, Andrew. I will never shop at this Men's Warehouse again. The order was not placed for my husband's suits, we had to call to find out why it was taking so long to get a call back. The staff ultimately pulled pieces from the racks. During the marking for the tailor, I prompted the questions they should be asking my husband about fit and length. When I brought all this to the manager's attention I was dismissed and told tailoring would be $90, how would I like to pay for that. Needless to say we left with the suits as is. We arrived and were instantly greeted. We weren't at all pressured by sales associates. I knew after looking around at their huge selection that we needed lots of help. Jessica Leist, (I made sure to get her card) was the most helpful, knowledgeable, (not to mention the vast amount of fashion sense she had) attentive employee I've done business with in a long time. I have generally been pretty happy with the service i get here. if you are buying a suit, they defiantly have one of the biggest selections in town. They typically have a handful of different options, and in my size in stock! Pricing is pretty good as well. Suits are never cheap, and i live in mine so i go through them like most people do shoes. they always have sales going on, and if you pay attention to the pricing of the suits you can get some pretty good deals. Service has always been great for me. Maybe it's because i usually go in during the week and in the morning, so i am not fighting any sort of weekend crowd that may have filtered from the valley plaza next door. The only downfall is their tailoring. After you spend lots of money on suits that you obviously need, they want you to wait typically 2 weeks to get them tailored, and they are pretty expensive on this end. ....and their tailoring isn't that good. I almost never use their tailoring because of this. The last time i did, i had to get one of the suits fixed somewhere else. So, you can find great deals if you are patient at this store...just take your new suits to a tailor you trust and everything is great. read more
