That being said, we had ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM in scheduling the cardiac testing for my daughter who has a developmental disability in addition to the current questions about her heart's health with Jefferson's team and they followed up the initial e-mail with a phone call verifying the information including the time at which we needed to arrive. From the very first stop along the day's journey all we received were smiles and professionalism mixed in with the right amount of personal interaction and conversation. Did my daughter have to wait in a hospital gown for more than an hour not knowing exactly when she was going in for her procedure, yes but staff regularly checked on her with smiles. They talked with my daughter always doing their best to calm her nerves and her fears. The American public needs to learn the word PATIENCE and put it into practice because impatience at times causes folks to miss the positive care providers are attempting to give. As we prepared to get the procedure done one by one of the "surgical" team came by to share information and to ask if we had any questions or perhaps even more importantly if we had any concerns. The anesthesiologist really calmed my daughter by showing her a scan of her arm. We obviously were not present for the procedure but before our daughter was awake the head of the team was sitting down with us to explain everything that went on. She even removed her scrubs providing a more personal feeling to the conversation (If she doesn't remove her scrubs for post operative conversations all the time, I would highly recommend it because with a sea of scrub covered humans it was nice to hear the report from a physician dressed like we were. It was a great touch!). Yes, we had to wait and wait and wait until our daughter's readings were acceptable. We were so ready to leave and our daughter wanted to get dressed. And, yes we were not in a comfy private room but what mattered were the smiles of the staff and their friendly quick chats with us about our daughter, about their work histories and their families, and just about life. That's the way it should be! It would be so wonderful if no one needed cardiac care but if you are in Philly or South Jersey or the Delaware Valley our experiences tell us that Jefferson is the place to go!! If you need a referral do not ask the day before. They act as if you are asking them to donate an organ to you and they will not guarantee the referral will be there the following day. They insist you leave the information on their referral voice mail line. There is no such thing as customer service anymore. It's all self serve. Pretty soon they'll be leaving instructions for us to do our own mammograms and draw our own blood.

Parking is in a private lot at the rear of their office building and it's free. The Rev. has some standard chronic health issues - cholesterol, blood pressure. He for many years primarily saw Dr. Stallkamp, whom he liked very much. Dr. Stallkamp left the practice a year ago to go into research, which initially made him sad. Then, he met Dr. Lytton. I can honestly say Dr. Lytton saved his life. Furthermore, she is the ONLY doctor that has gotten through his thick Southern skull to where he's finally enacting some serious lifestyle changes. You see, the Reverend is indeed a fully grown Southern man. The four basic food groups of the Southern Man would be fat, salt, meat and sugar. This is why so many Southern men don't get to be people "of a certain age". Despite years, I mean years, people, of cajoling, nagging, begging, yelling, refusing, etc, on my part, this man would not make changes in that diet when things like the cholesterol and the blood pressure and the weight started to go awry. I have snuck more Splenda and Boca in this man than he realizes in the name of true love. Still, the car would be full of soda bottles and fast food wrappers and when left alone, it was fry an egg in butter and bacon grease time. It didn't help that his compliance with taking his medicine to help control these things was spotty at best. That, again, despite my best nagging and cajoling and such. You may think I'm an ineffective nagger. I am not. He is just as stubborn as a jacka**, so in him I feel I have met my match some days. When he doesn't want to do something, good luck getting him to do it. Even denying him my 'feminine wiles' failed to change him. That's DEFCON 5 nagging, people. Years with Dr. Stallkamp, as great as she was, failed to enact change. That doesn't mean she wasn't a great doctor, she was and is. She just could not get through his thick skull. It took Dr. Lytton taking over his care, taking a good look at him and putting him in the hospital because his BP was so out of control then sitting him and I down together and giving us not only a stern talking-to but recipes, guidance on food choices, and yes, encouragement to get him to change. This man in 8 weeks has subsequently lost 18 pounds. He eats mostly vegetarian. When he goes out he looks for good choices like chicken grilled vs. beef. Yes, on Easter he smoked a brisket for the family and he had two pieces (and yes, it was mighty good) but that was it. He has grilled pork chops occasionally. He rarely drinks soda. He has not missed a dose of his medications in two months. He looks better, feels better and actually is doing that on his own, making his changes. So, yeah, the staff may not always be pleasant. Dr. Lytton does present as a little flighty and scattered and odd. Don't let that fool you, the woman knows her stuff. When you go there, you have as much time as you need with the doctor, not 5 or 10 minutes. Lastly, they care. Dr. Lytton has called at 10 PM and on weekends to give test results and to talk with him and to check in on him. Is the practice perfect? No. The staff is rude. Sometimes you wait (like that never happens at a doctor's office). However, I'll take rude staff and sitting in a waiting room all day long when it means a longer life with my love. Wouldn't you?

For the past few year I'd been going to the Jefferson Community Medicine Center whenever I needed a prescription or wasn't feeling well, never seeing the same person twice and usually even the follow up appointments were with someone new. Long story short, my father had received atrocious and frankly shameful treatment from Jefferson that would eventually lead to his untimely passing away and although it was in a different department I really just wanted nothing to do with Jeff ever again. I figured instead of looking on my insurance website for a PCP why not try Yelp since I use it for everything else which led me to Triangle Medical and Dr. Watkins. From the jump I could tell Dr. Watkins was different, he took the time to listen to me, ask me questions, and actually took my concerns into consideration. I've been seeing him for almost a year and we have uncovered several health issues that could greatly affect me down the road and have actively made a plan to get them taken care of. Having complete faith in a physician was something I never thought I'd feel after what happened to my father but the level of comfort and confidence I have with Dr. Watkins really gives me a feeling of security. The Triangle Medical office is on 10th St. right by Cheu Noodle Bar (which is also a huge bonus if your hungry post appointment). The waiting room is small but comfortable and I've always been able to get an appointment within a couple days of calling which is nice. Yesterday I was on the phone with my insurance company and they were trying to figure out the medical code for a CAT scan I needed so they called the office. When the lady came back on with me she said she was shocked she was actually able to speak with Dr. Watkins and that he was the nicest doctor she'd ever spoken with. I'm straight and before I came here someone at my gym said they thought Triangle was geared more towards the LGBT community. To my knowledge despite a heightened sense of style and killer dance moves, gay and straight men are genetically the same, get sick, and require the care of a compitent physician. I've referred my gay friends here just a much as my straight friends. I really feel fortunate I found Dr. Watkins and am grateful for the part he's playing in my well-being.

I have 100% confidence in his technical and medical knowledge, and I actually like the fact that he often has medical students in the office seeing patients...this speaks to the trust that the local med schools have in his abilities, and I also feel that someone who teaches is, at the same time, constantly learning. Whenever I've needed blood work, he doesn't send me to a lab...he takes the blood right then and there (which is good because, in the past, doctors have given me scripts for blood work, but I'd never go). In the past, I've had to go back twice in one week and he made sure that I wasn't charged for the follow up visit....maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think every doctor would be so considerate.
