I had seen the praise for Kokorokoko in the Yelp newsletter on Vintage and then I stumbled across it this past Saturday... and am so glad I did! I have been wanting a Pocahontas dress for Halloween and found the coolest, silver, space-age style pocahontas hand customized dress - I love it! The boyfriend of the owner who was working in the store told me she had customized it herself, with shredded fabric weaved into itself, beading, brown string, fringing and a gathered thigh split. It is super cool and sexy and I can't actually believe she would want to sell it! I have already danced around my living room in it. It's my new favorite thing. Thanks Kokorokoko! read more

This place rules: They have a really choosy selection of new 80's & 90's vintage clothes & jewelry... not just the same 70's crap in giants sizes like every other store stocks. The prices are super reasonable & the owners love every piece they buy. They have parties every month or so which are a good way to make friends, drink some free beer, check out new clothes, & sometimes get discounts. It's def my favorite vintage boutique in the city... because they're the only ones that satisfy this niche... & without jacking the prices outrageously high. love it. read more

Man, this place RULEZ. Chicago needs more places like this: carefully curated specialty shops with a forward-thinking aesthetic and killer price point. As far as I'm concerned this is the ONLY local source for 80's and 90's Vintage. Personally, I don't have time to scour every cheapo "thrift" shop in the city, so I come here to find the creme-de-la-creme, clean, organized, and ready to browse. And Sasha + Ross were super cool, encouraging, and accessible. I walked out with a killer Coogi sweater, a vintage Gap shirt...even a couple of disco records. I like this place, it has such a specific aesthetic that I could see why it would turn those people off, but those people are boring and don't need to wearing these flashy vintage clothes anyways. I'm a big fan of styling, and I think the store does a great job of putting together very wearable looks... if you can't wear something it's because you don't have the confidence! My only slight gripe would be the pricing, even though it's not too bad, I always feel like if I spent the time at a thrift store, I could come up with something slightly similar, but never the same. So if you find something you love here, get it, because you wont see it anywhere else. read more

Came in last year October. This store was so nostalgic so fun and they had a great selection of stuff. Definitely a blast from the past. I ended up purchasing a vintage looking Hawaiian print inspired dress for $34. Price was steep but loved the dress so much. I would def come back in. read more

Great staff who are always friendly the moment you walk in, a great selection of vintage, and you get a yelp check-in discount... And best of all, it's like a treasure hunt of all the coolest vintage items! This isn't easy to find, especially for true vintage items that are already cleaned for you! Yes, the store is a bit expensive but it's vintage so it's expected. The owners literally thrift around the country for these items, and it's quite impressive. Every item is carefully inspected & made the best condition possible before putting it on the floor, and overall, I think this store is one of the neater stores in Wicker Park! It definitely has it's own vibe and most of everything inside seems to have previously lived at some point within the 80s. I did get to show my Mini-me what garbage pail kids were all about cuz they had the old trading cards there. Beyond that I wasn't all too excited. Major rip-off. WAY overpriced when you can find the same things in thrift stores or other local shops for a quarter or less than the price. Example: a plain yellow six flags tshirt was $38, a Walt Disney world tshirt was $42. I love supporting local businesses but the price markups are just egregious. read more

This place is cute, and has potential. And it's not that the people there weren't nice, they were. It was a cool place...it's just that, well... This is the kind of place where I could only buy things if I meant to wear it ironically. Like, almost every shirt I saw was so over the top 80s that I just decided to leave empty handed. It's not that things were bad, they just had a very specific aesthetic that I don't find appealing. It was the type of place that a hipster gent who wears a neon head band and a sweat shirt out would shop, but it doesn't do much for someone who likes their vintage a little more vintage-y. read more

we jumped inside to retreat from the heat and 10 minutes later I was at the register with a pile of stuff I obviously didn't need but couldn't live without. from amazing vintage band tee's at totally reasonable prices ($12 for most of the ones I saw) to rad 80's attire which somehow magically makes the grade for currently rockable. I left with an amazing smashing pumpkins tee circa 1990, a couple aztec inspired leather bangles, and a stack of trading cards (including alf!) that umm... I couldn't say no to. the owner is super sweet and helpful and has an obvious good eye for all things awesome. love, love! read more

Any true vintage shopper can appreciate this place. Guaranteed. Walk up and down Milwaukee in Wicker Park and tell me that you can find a better store with better prices and better quality. You won't.... I've done it. We had spent the entire morning in Wicker Park scouring the aisles of Buffalo Exchange, N&D and Crossroads looking for solid finds for reasonable prices. Needless to say, it was a wasted afternoon. We had about two hours before I had to work and we decided to hike on over to ukranian village to see what this place was about. Man, were we glad we did! Often times even at regular retail shops I have a hard time finding one complete outfit. I purchased this beautiful vintage lace top with these old school high-waisted polkadot capri's from Gap, circa 1990. My fiance left with a Members Only jacket at the low price of $26 and a "three-peat champions" Chicago Bulls snap-back hat. Holy amazing. Unlike the other stores we had been to, the owner here hand picks all of the items in her store. So instead of charging people $500 for something that grandma had in her closet, this place takes great pride in finding quality wearable pieces. This store is adorable!! Its a great vintage store, and I'm shocked how inexpensive it is. Compared to vintage places on the milwaukee strip in wicker park this place is a steal. They have clothes, jewelry, shoes. etc. I like that it is a smaller boutique and it is very organized. I feel like larger resale/vintage clothing stores can sometimes be an unorganized shit storm, and makes it hard to shop if they're huge. I bought a pair of vintage sunglasses yesterday for only $10! Take that American Apparel with your $50 vintage sunglasses! Definitly check them out if your looking for some awsome cheap finds. read more

Not really my style. It has good clothes if you want vintage t-shirts sweatshirts, etc. Its great to get an outfit or old clothes that remind you of a kid that was bought in a department store 20 years ago, but I didn't see a lot of quality in the clothes. A bunch of 90s crap I loved as I grew up. Jackets and sweaters of the bulls and other teams that are like $10 out of my price range. Actually, so much of the store is like, damn I wish I made $10 dollars a day more to buy this. I would love to be able to afford a lot of this shtuff. But I cannot. Sadly, I mainly go there for the sports memorabilia which there is a lot of, but it distracts from any gems that i'm probably missing. read more

I mainly like to go in here for style reasons. I love 90s styled clothing because it reminds me of when I was nine watching Clarissa Explains it All. Only problem is it's way too expensive, and most of the clothes are aimed at the skinny hipster girls in the neighborhood. It's kind of weird...who would pay 30 dollars for a shirt you can find at an actual thrift store for three or five bucks? Rich, hipsters spending their parents money, that's who. And, also, if you're going to sell things in a store, it's probably a better idea to try to cater to EVERYONE of ALL SIZES. I thumbed through every rack they had and all their skirts and dresses were a size 0-3. And the same goes for their tiny, overly priced "vintage" shirts. I spend a lot of time in thrift stores, not because it's trendy, but because I'm broke and my mother taught me the art of thrifting and saving money (and basically living as economically as I can), and I seriously think if you have cash to blow on over priced clothing items, this is your new favorite spot. on the positive side, the decor is nice... read more
