In honor of women's history month, I would like to shine the spot light on this very cool shop in the Pilsen neighborhood. Also, I would like to thank all of the people that have come out to support businesses in this area that were hit hard by the current political climate in Washington D.C. At the height of violence in our streets I tried to do my best by supporting some of these businesses. During this phase 18th street looked like a ghost town on a Saturday. Normally on a Saturday in this neighborhood has people teeming everywhere and the smell of an asado in the air (Yum). Having time off and having an asado is the perfect way to relax and spend time with your family. Plus, who doesn't like the smell of an asado? Well during this time period I found this shop that I thought had some really cool and unique stuff. Also, you may notice that they have a fair amount of stuff with the famous Hulu's The Bear line, "Yes Chef, No Chef" on it. If you are a fan of the show like I am, then, the interior will look familiar to you because it was in a seen on the show (I think it was season 3). I immediately recognized the store and thought to myself "cool" and great choice. Anyhow, if you find yourself in the area, pop in and check it out. They are very selective as to which artists around the country they want to buy from and in turn sell their products. Maybe you will find that one unique thing that you have been looking for that you didn't realize you need. I mean, you never know unless you check it out. A MUST when in Chicago! Visited from California and made sure to have this local shop on the itinerary. This place is heaven for Knick Knack lovers. My mom and I could've spent the whole day there, the staff was welcoming and the store offered the most cutest items that were reasonably priced. The selection of things was great, from bookmarks, clothes, to mugs anything and everything you'd want for a souvenir. read more

Stopped by this shop again and it's just a cute little place to stop in and find a gift. I found a pair of earrings to give to a friend as a congratulatory gift and they're so adorable. I also picked up several cards. Some of them I could not fully read the text because they have Spanish on them, and the shopkeeper told me what they said. There's always something cool here, so you should go. read more

Such a cute little gift shop in Pilsen. It's overflowing with super colorful items of Hispanic culture. Purses, wallets, earrings, keychains, magnets.....so many different things! As a tourist I like visiting boutique stores and this one is one of my favorites that I've been to during my travels! read more

I love little artisan stores, and this one's definitely my favorite in the Pilsen area. The products sold here are trendy and cute. They sell all sorts of Hispanic-themed products, from concha earrings to loteria car fresheners to mazapan tote bags, and SO much more. Everything's unique and (I think) most of it's locally made. It's definitely a great place to look for cute gifts. Last time I went (Nov. 2020), they were only allowing 2 people in the store at a time. There is paid street parking in front of the store, but sometimes I find street parking a block or two away. read more

I super love this shop so much! They have a lot of items to offer and all of it are good quality and have a great design base on my observation. Plus, the ambiance are totally nice and the interior? Well, it's quite simple but still beautiful and relaxing to see. The customer service is also good and I love how they greet and assist their customer. I went here last Friday to buy some gifts for my cousin as her birthday will be next week. And I went to jewelry section, cause I heard that she love collecting and wearing it. I got a hard time in choosing as I am not that good and not into jewelry but at the end I decided to buy some minimalist style kind of bracelet and I think she will love it. I made a lot of time in choosing it so yeah she MUST love it lol. read more

This type of store is exactly what I'm looking for. They have a huge selection of adorable things that completely captured my attention. This is a really nice store with a lot of really cool Mexican-themed items!! In addition, the owners were quite welcome and polite. It is a small shop, but there are loads of hidden jewels, which is why you will not be disappointed if you come here because all of their products are well worth your time and money. I bought a pair of earrings to present to a friend as a birthday gift the last time I visited, and they are just gorgeous. I also purchased a number of greeting cards to send to friends. You should come here since there's always something interesting going on. I completely agree with some of the reviews on this site that everything is so unique and that (I believe) the most of stuff is manufactured in the area. This is without a doubt one of my favorite neighborhood shops! Everything in their store is absolutely adorable. I have purchased quite a few items from the shop including artwork, earrings, mugs, pins, keychains but perhaps my favorite item is my concha (Mexican bread) wallet! If you're in the area and looking you should definitely stop by, you definitely won't regret it! read more

I stop in Mestiza every once in a while to see what's new and interesting. They carry jewelry, art (posters, postcards, figurines) and knickknacks, t-shirts, and a small selection of vintage clothes and antiques. If you're thinking of redoing yourself or your living space in Nuevo Latino cliche, Mestiza is your one-stop shop for Frida Kahlo or Che Guevara t-shirts, purses, jewelry, switchplates, and stuffed dolls. The revolution still hasn't been televised, but it's certainly been commodified. The last time I was there, I bought a little souvenir book of photographs of a Mexican church dedicated to my patron saint taken in the 40s. Lovely. I'm going to buy one of the hand-painted bamboo curtains just as soon as I figure out where to put it. read more

LOVE this place! Owners are super awesome and have a good eye for stuff. Great incense too! I love being able to find Frida Kahlo gifty stuff - reminds me of being in Houston closer to the border! I'm just beginning to learn how neat Pilsen really is. They really change it up a lot here at Mestiza to keep things interesting. I can't wait for the weather to get better to trek it from Wrigleyville to here!! And then see what else the neighborhood has to offer. Happened into Mestiza today as I walked by and the window display caught my eye. Great local shop!! I loved the variety of handmade local and imported artisan items, from bags to jewelry to clothing and gifts. Beautiful unique pieces at good prices, and a very friendly staff.
