It was my pay day last week, so I came here with my friend to treat ourselves to some time off. This is the second time I've been to this shop. The last time I was there, I bought a lot of clothes and I always got compliments when I wore them. That's why I can't wait to come back and buy as many things as I want. I got budget for this shopping of mine only so I don't have to worry about cutting back on other things I need to spend. On this day, we bought some tops and also pants. It's our pamper day wih my friends! So, we did rush shopping in Florodora because we had heard that the goods sold here are of exceptionally high quality and are one-of-a-kind in some way. The previous week was pay week for me, so I set aside some money to treat on myself. Since this is our first time shopping in this location, we are unsure of what to anticipate initially. But as we enter, I saw a lot of variety of products and I spent a lot of money on clothing, and when I wore it, I was showered with compliments. I can't wait to come back and shop until my heart's content because of this very reason. A few of my friends have purchased some pants as well as tops. Floradora is one of my favorite shops in the city. This store is full of gorgeous clothes and accessories by local and international designers - it's pricier but worth it if you like finding things that are unique and built to last, very high quality items. The staff is very helpful when it comes to knowing about sizing and the products in terms of what they're made of, etc. including jewelry. Definitely worth checking out; I've gotten scarves, sweaters and jewelry from this store and shoes from the shop that's a couple storefronts down in the same building. read more

Michael Bloom has great fashion sense and clothing for many different body types and sizes. My wife found wonderful pieces she has enjoyed for years due to the high quality of materials and craftsmanship, and was able to find flattering pieces while she was pregnant as well. It was easy to determine that it was a clothing store because I can see outside their products because of the glass wall. They have mannequins that have clothes on them. I entered this shop because I was curious about their products. I can see that they have lots of products inside including clothes, hats, boots, shoes, sandals, mugs, pants and many more. Since I love boots, I went to the area. They have lots of boots to choose from. There is a girl who will assist me and help me. She even gave me the price of it when I asked her. Their boots were too expensive since they were leather and had good quality materials. I only had pocket money in my wallet and I left my card. So I will come here again to buy it. This place is the best. Michael Blossom is the owner and buyer. He has amazing judgement about fashion and has hired the sweetest, most friendly and helpful sales people. They sell very special things at Florodora, the types of frocks, jewelry and shoes that you will not be able to put out of your mind. I actually kept dreaming about one particular dress he had in the window, saved up my money and finally got it. It was so special and worth it, and my buying experience there was really fun. They are also really good at suggesting things that will suit you. In response to some of the other comments, it isn't true that you "can't find anything for under $125." There are lots of sales at the end of seasons and he also has things at the $60 price point. But really its a place you go when you want either something perfect or something new and special. Its not Target... the stuff Michael sells is made in the USA or Europe for the most part, not in sweat shops. And they are made in special well-considered materials. He has shoes there made out of fish scales backed with pig skin. He has unusual bags and the perfect dress for your special occasion. Seriously, this place has become very special to me, both because the sell things that are uniquely beautiful, and because Michael, the owner, is a beautiful person, the type of brave, creative entrepreneur who ought to (and is, as far as I can see) really thriving in Chicago, even through the bad economy. One last thing, the building Florodora is in is this incredibly glamorous art deco building. I would recommend getting a cup of coffee at Intelligensia, which is in the same building on Jackson and then walking down the hall to Florodora, perhaps stopping at New Leaf to see the lovely fresh flowers on your way! I could not be happier that Florodora is in Chicago and will continue to go there, mainly because I get tons of compliments on every piece I get from F, but also now because I have come to adore Michael for his taste and his gentle spirit. read more

It's clear that the buyer at Florodora has outstanding taste and has stocked the store with adorable clothes, however, it is almost unfairly EXPENSIVE. This store could certainly use more variety when it comes to prices. I don't mind having *some* items in a store that I can only drool over, but it becomes a downright clothing-cocktease when you can't find even a single top for under $125. And forget the dresses and sweaters - I would have to refinance my condo to even consider it. I am a loyal shopper to places where I can get style and value. If Florodora intermixed their pricier pieces with moderately priced items, I would be more enticed to return. In the meantime, I will be shopping at stores like Anthropologie even though they occasionally come across with a contrived or forced falseness when aiming for vintage. For prices that run the gamut between reasonable and expensive, I will gladly take it. As cute as the store is, I simply can't justify it. read more

A very cute boutique with some local flavor. Lots of beautiful wool coats, dresses, and hats to keep you bundled up in the winter. It's a shame I'm from Texas, I could only wear this stuff one day out of the year. But the items were really gorgeous. The only downside is that most of their clothes are for smaller women. I didn't see much in size 12. Still, it was fun to window shop. This store had a nice vintage vibe to it, and I always love seeing the local style. read more

Michael, who owns, both the Florodora women's boutique and shoe salon, spends an enormous amount of time sourcing unique local designers. The style is awesome, and you do not need to be exceptionally fashion forward to enjoy his inventory. I don't even think it is that expensive based on the care and time he puts into the quality clothes he sells. Oh, and he has plenty of staples. For example, the longer Florodora lyrca tank in EVERY color is literally the most comfortable tank I own. I wear them under everything. It holds up like none other. You MUST try it. I work in the building where this shop is located and am tempted daily to buy everything they display. I love how the shop looks and the clothing is just FANTASTIC. Last year, after seeing a 'to die for' dress in the window for weeks on end, I gave in and tried it on. The price tag made me want to faint, but I loved it so much that I purchased the dress. I must say that after my wedding dress, this is the most expensive article of clothing I have ever bought. If you have a larger wallet, I recommend this store. They do have plenty of sales that you get notified about if you are on their email list. That makes it a big more affordable. Let me say though, if I won the lottery tomorrow, this would be my first stop and I would get myself a whole new wardrobe. The clothes here are just my style. If I had a million dollars.... I'd spend it at Florodora. This is a charming boutique with a beautiful blend of feminine wear. Vintage-style dresses in silky fabrics, gorgeous blouses, sharp pants, creamy leather purses, the list goes on. Staff were very friendly and when I was there, they were even offering wine and cheese to shoppers. I'm giving four stars instead of five, however, because of their steep prices for the area. If this were the Gold Coast... sure, no problem. But I'm guessing most of their foot traffic comes from Loop workers and Loop/South Loop residents with more humble means. Florodora is by far my favorite little find in Chicago. I have been shopping at Florodora for 2+ years now and I will forever be a loyal customer! The clothes, handbags, and jewelry are all unique and stunning, the new shoe store carries the cutest styles of heels & flats (such a treat for your feet), and Michael and his wonderful staff are honest & kind people. The clothes are made of outstanding materials, the jewelry has a vintage/handmade feel, and the shoes are like nothing found in any department store. The items carried at Florodora & Florodora shoes are clearly very carefully selected by people who are fashion-savvy, & many of the items are designed by local designers. Florodora also carries lovely candles, matchbooks, mirror compacts, magnets, vases, oh-so-cute accessories and various items which I have found to make amazing, affordable gifts. I enjoy and frequently shop at Florodora but I've noticed a pattern with some of their customer service personnel: Hawk eyes. It's one thing to be attentive to your customers, it's another to stare them down as they're shopping. It'd be nice to not feel like a criminal while shopping. read more

Floradora is a breath of fresh air in an area saturated with Ann Taylor, Ann Taylor Loft, and Brooks Brothers stores. Not only is the boutique filled with treasures but the building itself is my favorite in the Loop! Intelligensia fills the lobby with the smell of coffee. Walk a little further and you smell all the fresh flowers in A New Leaf. Next is an old-fashioned cobbler. Keep going and you're at Floradora! I cringe at the comparisons to Anthropologie. Floradora's stuff is made much better, more unique and much less "wannabe vintage" than Anthropologie. The staff know where the clothing came from and actually WANT to help you find something that's "you". If only I could afford it! I always have one or two items on my wish list at this store and it's my go-to for special events. I guarantee you'll get tons of compliments on anything you buy at Floradora. It's a must if you're in the Loop. 4 stars because I have to save for weeks to buy anything I like there. read more

This is my favorite place to shop in Chicago. The clothes are expensive, but the clothes are unique and I appreciate that many of the brands are designed and made in the USA. Amazing. Great shoes, great quality. Nothing you are going to see anywhere else. I scored some amazing Dutch sandals off their sale rack but I probably could have purchased a lot more. Salesperson was a delight. No pressure just very helpful. She told me they specialize in high quality, indie shoe brands. That's why we already know how good and how lovely their products are. I think all my dresses and clothes came here, cause my mom is really being hooked on shopping in this shop. She really loves the quality of clothes here, so whenever we wanted some new clothes, this is always are "shop to go". This adorable boutique set in the historic Monadnock building downtown boasts loads of great fashion forward hard to find designers, accessories and an unusual collection home accents and gifts. The owner Michael prides himself on offering a selection that you aren't going to find anywhere else in the city. I love Florodora. I recently bought the most gorgeous dress from a New York Designer there for a black tie, and I found it on the clearance rack! I also got a great purse there from a local designer. Very unique, beautiful stuff. Yes, the prices are are steep, but for a special occasion or to treat yourself this is the place to go. If you shop on Friday afternoons they have wine! Michael the owner is very helpful and really displays everything well in the store. If you get on thier mail list you can find out about special sales, just last Friday I got an email saying that for that day only they were discounting the clearance racks an extra 20%, I wish I could have made it over! I've walked passed this store many times showing people the Monadnock (yay monadnock!) or going for coffee. I finally went in and the clothes are as beautiful as they look in the window. I wanted to try on all the dresses! A really great variety of styles, more on the euro-side which I love, but a range of selections for the young and old & all body types. Interesting, unique pieces. I don't usually write yelp reviews, but I have to say that as someone who is drawn to anthropologie for its vintage modern style, but often walks out in frustration over the quality, florodora is the real deal. yes, AP is nicer to your pocketbook when you buy things on sale, but honestly, their clothes do not last so you're ultimately better off investing in good pieces here. and besides the craftsmanship being so much better, this store supports local, upcoming designers. ditto the other reviewer who said FD is a breath of fresh air in an area of boring clothing chains. best news: they now have a SHOE STORE a couple doors down!! read more

Darling shoe shop in one of the most beautiful buildings in the Loop. The clerks are sweet and funny. There's not a lot of pressure to buy - they're eager to help you find something that suits you perfectly. Price points vary here, but keep in mind you're probably going to spend at least $100 on any shoe that's full-priced (they do have sales and clearances where you can score some deals if you're lucky). It's not your cheap Payless-type shoe store, but I have yet to have a pair fail on me, unlike the cheap chains where you wear a shoe 3 times & it's broken. I always get compliments from people - even just walking down the street - when I wear their shoes. What more of an ego boost do you want? read more

Definitely worth a visit just for the experience of browsing through all the expensive but attractive stuff in such a magnificent building--it's hard not to feel good in the Monadnock--with an equally engaging view of the Fisher Building out the window. Very pricey, and not everything there is beautiful--some of it seems too girly and busy, and the colors too muted--but I like the guy's taste in basic black. The sales staff are pleasant and not overly aggressive, but I agree with another reviewer that they're capable of approving of garments that either don't fit or don't look right. It's subjective and they (well, she, it was only one person I interacted with) may have been perfectly sincere. I could see stopping by here for a present for the right person, especially during a sale (one is happening as I write). The fourth star is in fairness to the hat I picked up there yesterday, because I just realized I am wearing it indoors, which is a sign of love, unless it's 1920 and women do it routinely. It makes up for the fact that the place is selling a purse that doubles as a fake fur muff. read more
