No longer recommend this place, which is a shame because it was the highlight of moving to McAllen. Their manager's lack of care, compassion, and knowledge is why I'll never be back. I've fired myself and that's okay, I'll spend my money elsewhere. Every 2 weeks or so I would come in and order kolaches for my staff. This time I also picked up some chocolate milks. I got back to work, unable to leave at this point. The chocolate milks were opened and they were clearly bad. They smelled and were clumpy. The date was okay, but clearly the milk was not. I called and was told there was nothing that could be done, I could not get a refund or new drinks the next day (again, couldn't leave work at this point). I told them that I would even take a gift card but was told no, unless I could come back by 2pm that day I wasn't getting anything. Clearly I was upset, and the employee was nice, but the manager refused to talk to me and those were my only options. So again, I have decided to use my hard earned money somewhere else. read more

I have been here a couple of times and every time I go I get good service by the girl. However, today we got served by a gentlemen and let's just say he didn't look Like he wanted to work there or he was annoyed by me asking what he would recommend. When asked his response was " I haven't tried it" or just a shrug of the shoulders. Keep in mind that while I'm asking and trying to decide he was slouching over the counter. I enjoy when the girl is at the counter because even if she doesn't tell you what to eat she makes recommendations and makes you feel that she really wants for you to have a good breakfast. The gentleman needs better customer service and if you need to, try all the Kolaches to be able to give options/ recommendations. There's not that many to be able to say I haven't tried them all. No mask sign on the door this morning. Walked in with no mask with my 3 year old, and caught complete attitude. No one spoke to me, nothing. A woman walks in behind me with a mask, and there's a 'Good morning! Welcome in!' It's clear this franchise or those running it don't agree with mandates coming to an end. 100% poor customer service. My only comment would be that in my opinion, the older gentleman who works the register does not belong there. He is a perfectly nice man but because he has trouble seeing, service is way to slow. He has to constantly look really closely at the money you give him and one more than one occasion, he has to ask a co worker what's the amount due that is showing on the register. Very poor business. I also have had the bbq kolache and the ham, egg and cheese kolache, and they are not stingy with the fillings. The second time we took advantage of the text offer and got three for free, my fiancé had two different chicken ones that he enjoyed. I prefer the savory ones to the sweet ones, chocolate cheesecake. They do fill you up and are fresh, but they do run out fast. I'll definitely be back and earlier to get my hands on other varieties like the croissant one. I love the food but this one lady on my two trips of 1 week apart, I experience exactly the same thing. Today I came in and about to order when the lady behind the counter that also handles the food began sneezing like 10 times in a row! She covers her nose with her elbows. She was sneezing in front of me, in two episodes, that means that is about 20 times! What troubling is that a week ago she was doing the same thing! So I read other reviews before coming which is why I came. Overall great experience. Mostly a place to pick up and leave. But I stayed because I needed to waste time. I got bbq, ham and cheese, and Texas Hot. My favourite was bbq. The girl that helped me was nice but when I asked for a suggestion, the common phrase of their all good isn't helpful. It's sort of fast food-esque inside, so I didn't ever eat there (although you could - and many people do), but the kolaches are always delicious and there is a nice variety. The employees were always very friendly, even when it was blazing hot out and early in the morning! My favorite to date is the Jalepeno popper kolache. It has cream cheese, jalepeno, and bacon and wow is it something!! This was my 2nd time to order from this Kolache Factory in McAllen. The first time, I ordered a large variety of kolache's. However, upon receipt of the several boxes, only half were marked. Needless to say, every bite of the unmarked boxes was a surprise and not necessarily a good one. Today, I ordered a single Kolache to go. Several blocks down 10th, I bit into my kolache to find it was not the flavor ordered - not even something that I would have purposely ordered. After returning to the store, I inquired as to the incorrect flavor and was told "that's what you ordered"....I replied that that's not what I had wanted.
