With the birds chirping their morning song and the serene ambiance of walking this paved path amongst the trees, it was easy to displace the reality of being in a decent sized city for a bit. In addition to the walking trail, there is also a children's playground, a pavilion, a few picnic tables, a fitness area, and a decent sized parking lot. I would definitely recommend this pleasant walking trail and with it lit with street lights every few yards, I believe that it is open until ten o'clock at night. Go check it out for yourself, I am confident that you will not be disappointed. Overall, I will give it five stars. It is not a huge area, but Dothan Kiwanis Park and Trail proves that good things can come in small packages.

This trail system is all intertwined with each other so you get miles and miles of trails. There are parts that are for bicycles and other parts that are just for hiking. You can bring your dogs if they are leashed. They have a couple of trash bins and plastic poo bags on the trail. The trail is marked with milage markers. At the main parking lot there is a small pavilion with picnic tables and a small but intriguing playground. When I was there a few families were playing. This part is definitely worth a visit. Plenty of parking. Get outside!

And yet, it's still a beautiful, serene spot to visit. Seminole State Park in Donaldsonville, Georgia, is a place where wanderers and nature lovers alike can uncover the quiet beauty of the Deep South. Nestled along the shores of Lake Seminole, this park offers a rich mix of outdoor adventures and calm spaces that make it more than just another stop on your map. One of the park's standout features is the lake itself. This vast reservoir is a dream for anglers, with bass and crappie practically waiting for your line. But even if fishing isn't your thing, the lake provides a spectacular backdrop for kayaking, paddleboarding, or simply sitting on its edge as herons glide low over the water. The sunsets here? They feel like personal moments of art painted just for you. For RV travelers, the park rolls out the welcome mat. Spacious campsites, many shaded by tall pines, come equipped with water and electrical hookups, as well as picnic tables. You'll also find a convenience station with showers, because comfort isn't forgotten here, even in the midst of rugged natural beauty. Some of the sites are close enough to the water that you can step out of your rig and cast a line right away. Beyond the lake, the park has trails that are friendly to both beginners and seasoned hikers. The Gopher Tortoise Nature Trail is a local favorite, winding through sandy, wooded areas where you might spot the park's namesake tortoises or catch sight of deer moving quietly among the trees. There's a sense of discovery here, as each turn can unveil a new scene of quiet beauty. Families will appreciate the playgrounds and open spaces that offer room to roam, while the picnic shelters are ideal for a shared meal under the shade. There's even a mini-golf course, adding a playful touch to your visit. Whether you're traveling solo, as a couple, or with the whole family in tow, Seminole State Park manages to cater to everyone without losing its sense of seclusion. Visiting this park is less about ticking off attractions and more about the experience of being there. It's a place where the rustle of leaves and the ripple of water remind you to slow down and reconnect--with the outdoors, with your loved ones, or even just with yourself.

We visited the visitor center/gift shop the first day, before it closed at 5. Rangers were friendly and helpful. We got a map for our hike the next day, and bought some provisions for our stay at a Florence Marina State Park cabin up the road. The next day we hiked down the steep, rocky terrain to the signs for all the trails. We chose Canyons 4-5, which were flat, and less wet & less difficult to hike than Canyons 1-3, and other trails. The views were spectacular! We noticed the puddles of water & wondered why some were silvery and bright. When we asked the ranger in the visitor center/gift shop, she didn't know. The hike back up to the visitor center/gift shop required several stops at Boy Scout donated benches. Thank you, Boy Scouts! My asthmatic lungs needed the respites. At the visitor center, we used the boot cleaning mats and hose to wash off the red clay of Ga. On the way out of the park, we stopped at the restrooms on the right of the road. This is where we got the BEST photos! Stop, get out and walk to the fences. You will be thrilled with the view. We were. This is our now favorite park in GA.

There is loads of shade in the interior of the canyon and water does trickle through so expect to get a smidge wet and dusty from the canyon. The shop was loaded with great merch but the bathroom was out of service for us so everyone had to use the single toilet handicapped room which wasn't exactly great. The parking fee and map etc can be a little confusing so just be sure to go inside to make sure everything is on the up and up. The rim trail runs immediately around the visitor center just follow the fencing to the left to stay around the rim go to the right to go down into the canyon itself. Both are worth it. We spent more time in the canyon :)
