Went there for the makeup, was perfect & smooth as normally looked. People very nice. Worst part they have no doors to close so during my last minutes alone people crowded doorways to watch. I felt very faint & extremely exposed, still have nightmares. Wish I had thought to call around for the casket I wanted, they could have offered. Too late I found 2 close places that had in stock to send over. Get cards elsewhere their machine dingy color & couldn't hold Mass details. Thank you Jon, Dean and everyone else who helped to support my sister's family two weeks ago. My brother-in-law passed away suddenly. I recently lost my father at age 95. My parents were married for 70 years, so you can imagine how difficult this was for my mother. Went to Kolssack's to plan services for my husband. Everyone was extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. They ask questions to actually try and get to know your loved one and made this difficult time such a smooth process. From the moment I walked in, it didnt feel like just a business. I walked in and instantly felt like family. They truly do care about your wishes and about doing the best job possible to honor your loved one. I was absolutely blown away with their service and work ethic. I walked through the door distraught and panicked but by the time I left I felt more at ease and that everything would be okay, you cannot put a price on that. We were called with arrangements for my mother but not given an opportunity for any input of our preferences. They only dealt with the one other next of kin. This even included the eulogy by Jon Kolssak. She may have died on Orthodox Easter but she was a life long Roman Catholic so she died on Divine Mercy Sunday. We were not asked for our memories. During the visitation, in the visitation room, the owner and a photographer started shooting promotional pictures of the casket as it was turned to the window for drive by viewing without asking the 3 family members in the room if it was okay. Was shocked, when asked them about what they are doing was told it's okay you won't see your mother. Made an emotional time worse. Like we just didn't count. read more

Dear Kolsaak Family - I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate the manner in which you handled my dad's viewing and funeral. I live out of state and wasn't able to attend the planning session you had with my step mom and sisters, but I understand from everyone that you did an amazing job of asking the right questions, translating what you heard and generally showing amazing compassion to all. I literally can't find the words to tell you how unique and perfect my dad's send off was. You and your staff did an first rate job from the memory cards to the suggestion to bring parts of his motorcycle, his signature suspenders and the green beret's song at the final goodbye. I also want to thank you for making him look just the way I remember. After a long fight with kidney disease he had aged considerably over the last few years and I was prepared to see a very sickly looking man. I can't tell you how much it meant to me to see my dad looking so much like himself. I spoke to my step mom the other day and told her that I believe that if my dad had been to a viewing and funeral like his, he would have come back really impressed and full of stories about how "neat" it was. I'm the sister of Sara P. and I'm sorry but this place was beyond horrible. When we asked for the said ring the owner stated "she didn't have a ring when she got here and it wasn't worth anything any was" she never took this ring off and how would he know its worth if he never saw it and then he proceeded to make comments about how much work we had in front of us cleaning out her house and how hard it was for him to get her body out. She collected books that were on book shelves in her bedroom and other then that she was extremely clean for a dying woman. You don't make comments to a grieving family like this. read more

They cremated my father without telling us he didn't have an autopsy. My 60 year old dad died suddenly and unexpectedly and we were told that he would most likely have an autopsy by Abby at the funeral home. We were told we could not have a viewing if he had an autopsy. After waiting to hear about his cause of death we were told he had been cremated and there hadn't been an autopsy. The cause of death was vague and not conclusive. When we spoke with Abby she admitted she should have called us to let us know so we could have done a private autopsy and also could have done a viewing to say goodbye to my dad which we never got to do. She said she thought money was an issue so she never bothered to call. It's comforting to know that what this funeral home truly cares about is money not the clients having a chance to honor their loved ones who pass. Thanks to Abby we never got to say goodbye to my dad and will never know what actually happened to him. read more

After having a bad experience at Glueckart home in arlington hts. I came here. I'm from out of town but used to live here. My wife and I want to be cremated and buried locally. Debbie Wendt meet with us answered patiently all our questions. She is extremely knowledgeable about the funeral business. She has the ability to make all arrangements. Obituaries cremation plot sales in numerous nearby cemeteries as well grave markers. Although we did not commit at this time. We will in the future after looking at cemeteries she is involved with.
