I am an old, tired and run-down war horse, driven down by life itself, the flail, mace or pike…read moredriven relentlessly and ever-deeper into my flesh, the ragged claws tearing at my sinews, weakening my gait, yet hurtling me on toward either that great reward, or worse: a long life. So I haul my sorry excuse for a body to North Coast and give the Good Doctor the abridged version: Years of working on concrete floors, on my knees, hauling cast iron pipe, then on weekends, hey! Let's ski Squaw Valley top to bottom couple times! (I can hear the sand in my knees shifting, recalling the moguls, the absurdly long boards, the long drive back to the Bay Area. Ouch.) First, I get a complete food workup and discover that I have two sensitivities, which are usually associated with arthritis. Now, I know what you're thinking, Darlin', and I ain't THAT old. Just because there's snow on the roof... and... uh... It ain't the size of the ocean... but... um... Well, I'm not sure what I was saying, but my food rules are now in place and I'll be a son of a Republican if I don't feel about six or seven decades younger. I may even stand up and wobble in celebration! Oh, and I enjoyed the acupuncture. Really. It has a calming effect while at the same time allowing those unusual electric-like jolts of energy release. I was told, though, that it was their first experience of removing the needles and having vodka spurt out. "If people bring so much courage to this world the world has to kill them to break them, so of course it kills them. The world breaks every one and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too but there will be no special hurry." Ernest Hemingway, A Farewell to Arms

Head + heart = healing. That seems to be Dr Tamara's method, which works for us. She's mindful in…read morespeech and action, sensitive to how we describe - and our how our bodies present - our symptoms. I heard she had a relatively new technique for addressing allergies: non-invasive, non-pharmaceutical - just what every mother wants for a suffering child. While Dr Tamara did not promise miracles, the results seemed to be just that. My 8 y.o. daughter had dark circles under her eyes from a week of sleeplessness due to allergies that robbed her of breath at night. We tried all the over-the-counter stuff, from ointments to syrups to chewables. When we walked into Dr Tamara's office, my child was struggling for every breath. We learned her sensitivities were to trees and flowers, not the pollens we had suspected. Thirty minutes later, with a mild sniffle, she could breathe - deep, lung-filled breaths. There were no pills to take, no changes to our daily routines, no side effects. About three months later, the seasonal winds blew in more irritants and my daughter asked to see Dr Tamara again...knowing first-hand the power of her healing methods. Dr Tamara is our first choice health advisor for our family. No matter that her services are not covered by insurance, the fees are affordable especially considering the results (and savings on prescription drugs!). Came here for a groupon deal for deep tissue massage. It was $80 for two one hour sessions. Drove…read morein to find this looks like a house turned into a Healing Center. Plenty of parking in the back. Up front, the reception area is very clean and modern looking. Front desk staff was very friendly. So walking back to my massage, I passed a few exam rooms (chiropractors here) and a yoga studio. The actual massage room didn't have a lot of zen like atmosphere like other places I've been to had. No fancy aromatherapy. There was some faint music in the background. Linens appeared clean. My first masseuse was a young fellow and I was expecting him to be strong but even though I requested he keep massaging harder (i love deep tissue) i wasn't sure if he just didn't want to hurt me but he just didn't get the fact that I wanted a deep tissue massage. If I didn't have the two session deal I would not have come back. Lucky I did though, my second masseuse on another day was Maria. She had the hands and skill of a massage veteran. She could just palpate where all my knots were and I only had to tell her once at the very beginning that I wanted deep tissue massage with hard pressure and she knew what I was looking for. Mission was accomplished here. Will come back for another massage here, but definitely request Maria!

That's exactly what I got from here. It's not some fancy spa but they get the job done. My masseuse was a little chatty, but I know some people prefer that. This office offers so many things to do! Chiropractor, yoga....
