It's not a brick and mortar store, its more like a mini three-wheeled food truck parked in the rear lot of "It's Playtime" - an indoor kids' playground and playscape. We saw zero signs directing us to its location -we just kind of knew about it from a Facebook post. Cuckoo's is owned by It's Playtime and is open more or less the same hours they are (roughly from 9-5). Because the cart sometimes goes off premises to an event, it's worth your while to call before you scoot over. Cups of shaved ice are sold in 2 sizes for $4 or $5. There had a ton of flavors including Blue Vanilla, Grape, Lime, Mango, Cherry,Tigers Blood, Pickled Mango, Lemon, Blue Raspberry, Banana, Sour Apple, Blueberry, Cotton Candy, Pina Colada, Cola, Pink Lemonade, Guava Passion Fruit,Li Hing Mango, Strawberry, Passion Orange Guava, Blue Bubblegum, and Cake Batter. You can trick out your shaved ice with a Snow Cap (for an extra creamy sweet texture), or Fairy Dust (glitter), or candies for half a buck or so more. No review of Cuckoo's would be complete without a glowing report on the young lady running the stand. Isabelle was delightfully charming, informative, helpful, and as sweet as the shaved ice she served up. We ordered a snow-capped small banana and a snow-capped small blue vanilla They totaled $10.21. They have updated their sign to just say shaved ice, so hopefully, Google will update soon. It's shaved ice in the front and a skate shop in the back. There is a list of flavors to choose from and I ended up getting strawberry and pineapple in a flower cup. The ice is very soft, fluffy, and melts quickly. The syrup flavorings are drizzled on and will make it's way down to the bottom of your cup. It's not overly sweet, so you don't feel gross after it. It comes with straws for you to sip up your refreshing ice as you walk down the shops of downtown york. If you're looking for something cool and sweet for the afternoon and you don't want ice cream, shave ice is the way to go!

It is soft as freshly fallen snow and very tasteful, nothing at all like those old Slush Puppy syrups that make your teeth ache. Price was fair, as it may be considered a "specialty" food item. There was not a wide variety in terms of flavors. Unfortunately, I couldn't taste the flavors I got. I basically drank pieces of ice and water with hints of whatever flavor I picked. The ice collapsed once I received my snow flower cone - it became half the original size. The ice wasn't the best quality I've had but I know they have a decent ice shaving machine. Also, the person serving the ice did NOT look happy to be there at all (however, I am sure it was hard to stand the heat that day).
