Think people are hating this place because they are comparing the food to Stop & Shop. The taste is pretty different. Sour Dough from NY, Vermont that was "baked today" but feels half frozen is $7 at Whole Foods ... so complaining about $10 for a local one is kind of wild. Yesterday I had a baguette from the West Hartford location. Ate it on the way home. It was so good. Finally tried a sandwich. I had their Turkey Sandwich today. Shit was life changing. Haven't had an experience like that since having a steak at J Gilberts for the first time. It is like wow this is what real food taste like and what our parents & grand parents would eat before everything was mass produced. Everything was local and delicious. Price wise it was $2 more than a regular sized Jersey Mikes Turkey Bacon sandwich. The coffee and the other baked goods I thought were just ok but their bread, cookies and sandwiches are incredible.

Their mission is imbued in their staff, products, how they set up their space, and how you order. We came here for breakfast on a weekday and had a lovely experience. They have breakfast and lunch cafe menus (+catering), yummy pastries (cookies, muffins and scones) and various coffees and drinks. We enjoyed the omelette (if you order more than 3 ingredients there's a charge) and the village breakfast which was eggs, potatoes (slightly blackened), sourdough toast (or wheat) and bacon. Prices are fairly standard ($11-14) and portions not very large. The panetonne, toasted coconut, and chocolate chip scones ($5 each) were all good and baked well. The honey latte and hot chocolate (most drinks are $4-8) were also very creamy and delicious, though slightly too sweet for our tastes (made it taste good though!) You order at the counter and then take a table and place a marker with nice words like "love" and then your food is brought to you. The actual space is very inviting, with lots of nooks and crannies (tables with chairs, couches, a fireplace). They also sell t-shirts ($30) and sweatshirts ($40-50?) which are pretty soft material, as well as ground coffee, cards, granola, etc. The other half of their space is their homemade pasta place so it's a unique layout and looked fun as well. There were plenty of customers cycling in and out, many sitting down with a warm drink and a pastry. Parking isn't huge but was not super super small but could be an issue if they got an influx of folks hanging out. Wouldn't blame them though because it's a comfortable place with free wifi. The service is spectacular and the servers smile earns an even greater smile in return. On one half of the open and airy space is Beanz and on the other side Pasta Co. Each works in unison. Seating is abundant with open and tucked away spots. Some limited outside seats as well. We have purchased breakfast items and devilishly delicious snacks and beverages. Over at Pasta are fresh dishes for a relaxing bite. There are also take home coolers and freezers for enjoying at home.

The bagel was served burnt so it's difficult to say how good they might be, but my first impression was there was nothing to write home about! I have had supermarket bagels that were more appealing. The combination of poor food and poor service left me feeling unwelcome and unsatisfied. I will not be coming back.

We had the pleasure of being hosted by Nan. She told us then that she had recently listed her business for sale. I had heard that the business is now under new ownership and Nan will be staying on for the short term. We were provided sparkling juice and we had a choice of tea from an abundant of selections. I loved that each person had a stone trivet with Celtic designs for each's teapot. A 3-tiered tray was served for 2 persons. It came with pudding, cookies and chocolate, scones and an assortment of tea sandwiches. Nan also provided dairy free options! We mentioned on reservation that our party included dairy free persons. She most certainly delivered! Everything was great! We had the room to ourselves. She said she books the place in the way she wanted to have it. She was still conscientious of COVID guidelines and wouldn't pair another party close to another even though she could. She's so thoughtful! Everything tasted delicious. She regularly checked on us and even spent time to talk with us. I think business owners like her are what set business apart from others. So happy to have been able to make the visit while she owned it and I am looking forward to the legacy she leaves behind with the new owners. Hoping to visit again soon!
