The absolute best!!! We love Hawaiian Jim's ice. My kids average 1 a day on vacation!!

A nice spot to come to on a summer day to enjoy a refreshing treat. Google has this place listed as Surface Skate Shop, but when you look closer at the pictures you'll see you're in the right place. They have updated their sign to just say shaved ice, so hopefully, Google will update soon. It's shaved ice in the front and a skate shop in the back. There is a list of flavors to choose from and I ended up getting strawberry and pineapple in a flower cup. The ice is very soft, fluffy, and melts quickly. The syrup flavorings are drizzled on and will make it's way down to the bottom of your cup. It's not overly sweet, so you don't feel gross after it. It comes with straws for you to sip up your refreshing ice as you walk down the shops of downtown york. If you're looking for something cool and sweet for the afternoon and you don't want ice cream, shave ice is the way to go! read more

Service = 1 star Shaved ice = 4 stars It takes a lot for me to write a 1 star review. For the second year in a row the customer service has been absolutely horrible here. Rude and snooty is an an understatement. There is nothing pleasant about the staff that works here. If you expect to be treated like a dumb piece of trash then come here...don't plan on having ylyour questions answered like "what's the difference between small and regular size". You will get dirty looks and no form of verbal communication. Two years in a row...awful. read more

I can't believe how much of a scam this place is. To be honest I don't even know where to start. I was at Shortsands beach, York Maine with my son Jackson. He said that he wanted a treat and we walked down the street and saw Hawaiian Jim's shaved ice. We thought it would be cool to try it because we are both very big shaved ice fans. First of all, they just let anyone in without a mask. Also, they don't put nearly enough ice in the cup. And there was so much flavor in my shaved ice, that it turned into soup after about 3 minutes. My son also pointed out that in the advertisement, the cup was literally overflowing. My son and I ordered the same type of cup and got the largest size, and the ice didn't even break the top of the cup. The fact that this place even has the audacity to call themselves Hawaiian Jim's just frankly disgusts me. read more

The location is tiny and a little tricky to find, as a google search will tell you this is just a surf shop, but it indeed is a Shave Ice shop too. Great selection of flavors. Definitely a step up from a traditional snow cone, much better texture to the ice. Our daughter was craving one, and it didn't disappoint. She had pineapple, blue raspberry and cherry. Two weekends in a row closed early, very disappointing that staff is allowed to close before 10. Fireworks downtown the other night, plenty of time to get shaved ice, kids were excited all night for it. Got there at 9:35pm and for the second night in a row they were closed. Employees still inside but when asked why closed early, just ignored us. Other patrons had gathered around as well thinking they were open til 10. Which on every social platform states they are supposed to be open until 10pm. Thumbs down. read more

So refreshing! A perfect treat after sweating on the beach. Located inside a surf shop, Hawaiin Jim's Shaved Ice is delish. Reasonably priced considering the touristy location. The staff are quick and nice, and don't panic too bad, when my six year old wants to play with a very expensive long board in the shop. I never let him. But he tries. I'm sure they're happy to see us go. ;) But every summer we come back. read more

What a treat!!!! I loved stopping in here during a summer trip this year- we went back twice. The shave ice is perfect, and the flavors are great- not some sugary mess like the slushies you normally have to settle for. This was an awesome little find. Hawaiian Jim's is a must for anyone visiting Maine's Seacoast. It's not your typical crushed ice with sugar dumped over it. The only way to describe it is if a double rainbow crashed landed in Utah powder a magically appeared in York, ME. That Jim must be a magician or part leprechaun at least. After a day at the beach, this simple syrupy icy goodness was really satisfying. Ice shaved (like fresh snow!), not coarse (like sleet : { It's almost fluffy! We enjoyed a variety of side-by-side flavors: peach, raspberry, lemon, pineapple, pink lemonade, and coconut (rather icky). They drizzle the flavor side-by-side on the ice and give you a spoon straw to enjoy while standing against the building, sitting on a sidewalk bench, or walking along the street.
