The sandwiches listed on the chalk boards all sounded good and the lady working there was very friendly and happily translated and described the choices in English for us. I ordered a sandwich with avocado, onion, cottage cheese, arugula, and lettuce and since you are given a choice of any bread they have available I chose a pumpkin seed bread. The bread itself was very delicious and fresh as were all the ingredients and this was the perfect healthy lunch. My wife enjoyed her open face sandwich consisting of Serrano ham, arugula, lettuce, cucumber, pickle, and mozzarella cheese. There are a selection of beverages in the display case and I chose a can of flavored sparkling water and my wife had a bottled smoothie. There is also water available for free behind the counter. The atmosphere here was friendly, comforting, and inviting. The food was delicious, fresh, and healthy. If I had spent more time in Stockholm I would have certainly returned to Bulleboden.

The cinnamon buns in Sweden are obviously exceptional as they originated from there- crunchy on the outside and warm, melted, soft cinnamon goodness on the inside. The waffle was perfectly crispy and the jam was delicious, but it wasn't a particularly filling for the price, really just a treat. They had fancier offerings as well, for a bit more money, as well as savory combinations. I overheard from a neighboring table that you can order a waffle with both whipped cream and ice cream. Where was this information when I was ordering? Oh well, next time. I would visit Älskade Traditioner again, but perhaps only for dessert. Lots of locals starting their morning here, some working remotely, some just reading, and others catching up with friends. The people who work here are the absolute nicest people. Coffee is delicious. They have fresh squeezed orange juice in the mornings, as well as some green juice and ginger shots which will get you going. There's nothing more satisfying than starting your morning sipping on a latte while nibbling on a cardamom or cinnamon bun. Swedish coffee culture is absolutely elite, and is what I'll miss most now that I'm back in the states. Can't wait to go back to Stockholm and drop by Lilla Caféet på Söder again!

Open daily since the 1940's for Fika and Coffee, both floors offering seating but only the upstairs featuring table service, guests entering Gunnarson's will immediately be taken by the vast expanse of options laid out both inside and atop cases with decorative Pretzels hanging overhead, samples of freshly baked Bread available to pass the time while perusing. Not a safe place for the indecisive or gluttonous, the sheer volume of eye-catching Fika enough to compel a sizeable order even when one has just eaten, it was with several desirable items left behind that an order of seven was boxed and bagged for 270 SEK, the products ported across town for consumption with first bites of the Princess Cake a dramatic upgrade from Vete-Katten in terms of levity, texture and sweetness. Moving next to a particularly spicy Cardamom Roll, the springy Dough baked golden but fluffy within, it was with this base made creamy by poached Rhubarb that Gunnarson's further impressed before briefly taking a step back in an overly-crumbly Tosca, the mixed-nut Notknappare faring far better as the caramelized Brown Sugar penetrated deeply adding moisture. Rounding out the order with two fruit-filled Fika, the classic Katalan nicely balancing tart Raspberry Jam with sugared Frosting, it was again in a seasonal special that Gunnarson's shined brightest, the Blueberry-studded Blabars Mazarin not unlike a French Financier with the Almond Flour base toothsome and dense yet soft and delicate.

It's also about slowing down and savoring the moment rather than rushing off with a to-go cup. After a long afternoon of walking around and exploring Stockholm, I was grateful for an opportunity to sit back and relax. It was clear from the first moment we entered that this wasn't your fast-paced type coffee shop. There was only one person making the beverages and taking payments at the register. He skillfully crafted each beverage with a design on top while each person on the line waited patiently for their turn to order. The restaurant is pretty narrow and the order counter is by the door, so the order line quickly snaked outside the restaurant. The counter is on the right side of the restaurant, surrounded by a case of pastries and a wall-mounted blackboard with a list of beverages. There was a small seating area directly across from the register and a few more tables in the back. My friends and I ordered lattes and cinnamon pastries and squeezed into the high-top seats at one of the tables to enjoy them. My pastry was light and sweet and the latte was decent. We took advantage of the free WiFi to send some emails and texts, but for the most part enjoyed our conversations with each other.

This moment happened for me at Gilda's Rum and I will remember it as one of the highlights of my trip to Stockholm. My girlfriend and I were walking along the street looking for place to have a cup of tea and a bite of something sweet to eat. Gilda's looked eccentric and whimsical from the outside and that drew us in. Comfy seating, mood lighting, soft music, a great selection of Kusmi teas and various pies and cakes? We struck gold. After retiring to the couch in the main area with our slices of apple pie and chocolate cake and violet teas, we sunk in for the evening. Something about Gilda's was so enchanting. The conversation flowed smoothly and and we were able to thoroughly enjoy eachother's company here. 30 minutes turned into 2 hours and we decided to get a salad since dinner time was approaching. The salad was hearty and delicious, with a VERY generous serving of goat cheese. Another hour passed as we got refills on our teas and the waitress came over with a free cardamom biscuit for us. We were so touched by the gesture and I was reminded of how delicious cardamon is. We stayed until a few minutes before the cafe closed and I ended up having such a lovely, peaceful evening here that Gilda's will always have a place in my heart.
