My first foodie adventure in Stockholm was this bakery and I came back 3 more times! They have the best variety of baked goods, breakfast items, desserts and drinks coffee, tea and alcoholic ! The service is always so good and they are so polite. I loved the old time feel yet the capture a little modern into it too. They have a few different locations. All are great . I loved the first one I went to with the outdoor garden. I had my first Swedish cinnamon bun here and that is pretty much my go to here. I also loved the apple muffin . The coffee is nice and strong and served in their lovely cups and their bubbly is a good treat with pastries too surprisingly . They have counter service, to go, or you can do the sit down service too. Definitely seek these bakeries out if you're in the city. You won't be sorry! This was my first Fika and my last in Stockholm and a tradition I truly loved! The central train station has a kiosk of the bakery and I got some cinnamon buns to go home with me too.

Great pastries and coffee and quite a variety of choices. Cute restaurant, felt very French. Items were costly but you get what you pay for.

Top to Bottom: Toast Skagen, Cappuccino, Princess Cake, Latte, White Chocolate Mousse

Coming straight out of Arlanda airport, Vette-Katten was our first stop. For anyone that needs a coffee or pastry after a long flight, Vette-Katten is the perfect place. My friend and I were not the only ones who came straight from the airport (or going to the airport) as there were a few customers with luggage. There were more than enough tables to grab a seat and I went to order food for me and my friend. We ordered the princess cake, white chocolate mousse, the skagen toast, a latte and a capuccino. I don't know what all these other yelp reviewers are talking about, but the princess cake was made for royalty. I'm usually not a fan of fondant, but this fondant was different. The fondant isn't too sweet, has a pleasant tartness, and complements the fluffy cream and fresh raspberries. I was tempted, but properly dissuaded, from bringing a few slices back to New York. Aside from the perfect princess cake, the white chocolate mousse is super soft and balanced, the skagen toast was refreshing, and the coffee was pretty good. Overall, I think Vete-Katten shines when it comes to their pastries. The only difficult part of ordering in Vette-Katten is that I couldn't read anything and had to point to things/ask lots of questions. This wouldn't be so bad if there weren't a lot of people waiting behind us. If we did more research beforehand, I would've tried the cloudberry dessert instead of the white chocolate mousse (which is more of a universal dessert). Despite that, the workers are really friendly, helpful, and patient. I could see myself grabbing a coffee and a pastry alone or with friends if I lived in the area. There is a casual coziness despite a lot of people coming in and out. You won't be pressured to leave as there are just as many groups having relaxed conversations over tea and pastries. I'll continue to dream about Swedish pastries and Fika until the time comes to visit again.

As one of the first breakfast/meals that we had in Sweden, we stopped by here. We just had a cinnamon bun and the Princess cake. I enjoyed the cinnamon bun, which wasn't too sweet which I really appreciated. If America had this, I could see myself eating this over the American version just for the reduced amount of sugar. The princess cake was good, but the fondant wasn't the best. In general I think fondant isn't the best. If they left the fondant off I would have enjoyed it a lot more. A nice cream on top and it would've been perfect for me, but sadly it was fondant which meh. Overall, I enjoyed Vete-Katten and these type of cafes are not as rare in America, but by far the food I feel like is better and overall atmosphere. If we come back I think we could spend a little longer here and take our time while sipping coffee. I think though there are so many cafes, but I thought this place had a lot of seating and would be great for big groups.

Delicious place for Fika! Excellent and quick service. There is a wide variety of pastries, cakes, breads, buns, sandwiches, coffee drinks and smoothies. Everything is very fresh. For a late breakfast, I had a cappuccino and cardamom sweet bun which rich in flavor and taste. If you like cardamom, I would highly recommend it. Plenty of spacious seating indoor. Great place to meet friends for coffee and a treat. Highly recommend it.

They don't have Chai latte or matcha latte. They don't have iced tea either. But pastries are lovely and I like that they have a lot of seats inside. You can actually sit down and relax.

This place was so good, I made it a point to visit once a day during my weeklong stay in the city. Their grilled sandwiches with ham and cheese are ridiculously good, it's legit one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches I've ever had, the Dijon mustard in it brings it to a whole another level. Princess cake and Smultron were my favorite sweets I tried, although you can't go wrong with any of them. Service was fantastic. As a non Swedish speaker, I was able to order and communicate with the staff. Ambiance was great, I was able to secure a seat for myself every time I visited. From the looks of it, seemed like a very popular spot for first dates among the locals! Overall a must visit for anyone in the city!

Vete-Katten is a requirement to visit if someone is in Sweden. Everything about this place is wonderful from the atmosphere to literally each and every dessert. I frequented here several times and I was in Sweden for less than a week, so that's saying something. Yes the princess cake is a classic and a must, but there's so much more out there, including solbulle, semla, and ostkaka. In short, whatever is seasonal was absolutely delicious.

Our first stop off the train from the Stockholm airport, per a rec from a friend living here. The cardamom bun was delicious, the vanilla bun too! We also got a skagen (shrimp sandwich), and the dill sauce on it was perfect. You get refills on your coffee here too. I highly recommend this shop for fika time!!!

Popped in here for a mandatory fika break during a day of walking all around town. I happened to amber walking by and noticed it had great reviews so I figured it was worth a stop. While there was a bit of a line it went quickly and all the women working behind the counters were hard at work. I devoured my pastry and slowed down with a big latte to keep me going. There is something to be said about a place that executes a coffee break well, a solid menu of items, great service and a comfy ambiance -- and Vete-Karen delivered. Definitely recommend.

We came here an early Sunday morning, before I had to catch the bus back to Arlanda Airport (which leaves from right on the other side of the street, next to Fridhemsplan t-bana). That perfect location made us choose to go here, but I'd definitely go back! At first it looked as if they don't have that much to choose from thought, but all three of us got what we wanted and they serve good coffee ánd fresh orange juices! I went for a croissant, kanelbulle (to say goodbye to Sweden ;)), a latte and an orange juice and paid 105kr for all that. It was more than enough to start the day with, take a bus to the airport to ánd fly back to Amsterdam, so I was happy. And yep: I'm a fan.

They had really limited options to choose from. 3,4 kinds of pastry, 2 kinds of juices, one kind of yogurt & fried egg sandwiches with/ without salami on them. The sandwiches were stacked up on top of each other outside the fridge right at the cashier( the point where you walked in) so I assumed they were there only to display so I asked here that if I order egg sandwich I'll get a hot egg, right? She said no these are the sandwiches & it is served cold, do you want hot, I said yeah assuming that she was gonna crack an egg for me and make one but then she just put one of those sandwiches in a microwave! And you probably know what kind of smell to expect from a heated fried egg!! Absolutely disgusting! They also serve their coffee in a plastic cup which was a huge minus for me. I think the whole idea with this cafe must have been a hipster simple hang out but it has gone terribly wrong and all that is, is really a dump looking place with a bunch of worn out furniture & plastic dishes to serve food in! And last but not least, they charge me 70 SEK for a fairly small( compare to other cafes) sandwich & a lousy late which makes this place one of the most overpriced cafes in the whole Stockholm!

The interior is warm and cozy in the winter, and despite the busy and fairly loud seating along Sankt Eriksgatan, it's a good spot to sit outside, considering. The Chai Tea Latte is massive but varies widely on taste (remember it fondly in the Winter, not so much in the Summer), and what's up with the 5kr refills for coffee? Jury is in on the Muffins: not worth it though they look like they will be. Overall, I still have a lot of love for this place and recommend it for the area. Great address, friendly staff behind the counter. Prices are as in all other cafés in the city - around 80 SEK for a salad, around 40 SEK for any slice of pie or cake. But what do you get? The salad is a bit dry (they offer extra vinegrette in a bottle at the counter) and the chocolate cake is too (but vinegrette probably won't help that). Cream for your hot chocolate or chocolate cake comes from a can. Not very luxurious but the public has gotten used to it so I guess we have to settle for it. The hours are very generous (for being Stockholm) - they're even open till 10 pm on Sundays. However, well before 9:40 pm they picked everything off our table, shut down the music, turned up the lights and started just standing around to indicate that they really wanted us out of there. Minutes later they started moving tables and cleaning the floor. I'm of the opinion that if a place claims to be open until 10 pm, guest should be able to be there and feel welcome until 10 pm. If they want to clean out the place and go home by 10, they should say they're open for guests until 9:30. Now we left rather bummed out. If nothing else is open (which unfortunately is likely), I'd come back here.

There are serval options for milk (whole, oat, 1/2 and 1/2, etc). The major complaint would be that there is no easy place to throw away your rubbish, nor is there a place that is clearly evident to bust your dishes, which is much needed given that this is a super busy place.. The staff is too busy to bus tables regularly, which backs up the availability of seating . This is the major reason for a one star deduction.. So, when we got up and were ready to go, we headed to a cafe that came highly recommended. When we got there, 45 minutes after it was supposed to open, it was unfortunately closed. So, we ended up walking around the city, hoping to find another option for a good breakfast. We didn't find anything on our walk, so we jumped on a bus and looked around. We went by a place that looked like it had potential, so we stopped the bus and got off. We walked into Thelins Konditori and saw an amazing assortment of baked goods and sweets! I looked up on the menu board and was extremely excited to see Pannkaka! I ordered up a glass of hot chocolate and some pannkakor. Thelins is a very nice Konditori with a good atmosphere. It is clean and the employees are helpful. The restrooms are extremely dimly lit. The woman behind the counter gave us some small glasses of hot chocolate with whipped cream. The chocolate definitely was not hot... lukewarm at best. The whipped cream was great and the flavor was really good too. I would rank Thelins 9th place in my hot chocolate tour of Europe. The pancakes were excellent! There were 3 pancakes folded up in triangles and served with a cup of whipped cream and a cup of strawberries to top them off. The flavor and texture of the pancakes were great and I was very happy to finally have some Swedish pancakes. Thelins is extremely expensive, but that is pretty much a common theme in all of the restaurants and cafes in Stockholm.
