As soon as we decided to come to New Mexico - I knew I had to come Roswell to the UFO museum. Since I am a bit obsessed with the Roswell incident. You know the weather balloon crash. So I get in the museum and I start reading everything and listening to all the testimony. And I actually started to believe that it wasn't a weather balloon. Until I read the statement from the funeral parlor director. Supposedly the army officers requested 4' caskets. Really - aliens? And your big concern is the size of the casket? They can't go in a regular size one?? Besides we all know that the aliens get stored in the lab at Area 51. In glass jars.

All you have to do is be curious to come here. They have everything on display chronologically, some interesting visual displays, and it's a self guided with lots of captivating stories and tangible materials as it relates to the existence of aliens and UFO's. I went through here in about an hour. It would take you much longer if you read everything on display. Lots of the stories on the timeline are fascinating. I thought it was well put together and should be thrilling for the alien enthusiasts. After checking out all the museum displays, there's a decent sized gift shop offering various types of merchandise. I got a cool fridge magnet as a souvenir for visiting this infamous museum. If you ever come to Roswell, whether you are into or believe in aliens, you have to visit the UFO Museum. It represents what Roswell is known for, and it's just an overall interesting experience with everything chronologically displayed nicely.

You can take photos, but no real interactive aspect to it (which is what I remembered from it from long ago). It is fine, but it is a little boring. It is definitely for tourists of little ones. I was really taken aback because of all the good Yelp reviews. I don't know if I am missing something or I came on a bad day but this is definitely not worth it in my opinion, especially when there are so many other fun things to do close by. When you enter The Alien Zone there is a tiny gift shop in the front and the girl behind the counter was watching a movie on her laptop. We asked for two tickets and paid $17.32. She pointed to the curtain and said "You're fine to go back and check it out. You can touch all of the props and take pictures." Once we walked through the curtain, I thought we were getting pranked. There was a wall full of toys like aliens and rats and spiders but they are all behind netting that has been zip tied together, so you can't touch any of it. Then you see a few displays with aliens that look like they are left over from some old escape room or something. Underwhelming is an understatement. We figured since we had already paid, we might as well try to have some fun, but it is so dark in the room that It's difficult to get a good photo. There are only two rooms and once we got into the second room it got really really warm. At the very end they have a lab coat that you can put on for photo ops I guess but we were literally sweating, so we just left. If you are reading reviews to decide which things are worth doing and which things are not, definitely put this on your not list. The UFO spacewalk is just a block or two away, it's less expensive, and way more fun. There are also plenty of alien photo ops all around the city, including the visitor center, that don't cost a penny.

Which usually means you don't have the best selection of theaters. And this particular theater isn't horrible. It's actually fairly clean and well kept. And the prices are somewhat less than other theaters. But it going downhill from there. Popcorn, sodas, and candy are still not cheap by any means. And everything is basically self-serve. Popcorn is dispensed from a huge glass box. Get your own butter. The popcorn was burned and stale. Fountain drinks were as expected. It's soda. The theater we were in did at least have updated and comfortable leather seating, which reclined. In the reclined position they were all loose. And felt as though you were rocking in the chair. For some reason, there is even a USB port in each seat. So you can keep your phone charged and make sure you don't miss a call or text during the movie. Clearly, sarcasm, but it's there, nonetheless. The theater was also poorly designed. Period. It's very narrow and long. There is a crazy amount of space between each row. Wasted space. Which further accentuates the fact that if in any other than the front two rows, feels as though you're super far from the smallish screen. Light protrudes from the entryway. The lights were not dimmed enough during the movie. Proving to be quite distracting for anybody in the back rows. Fortunately, we were able to move down a few rows to avoid what would have been an unbearable annoyance from the lights and tiny screen. Small screen combined with long narrow theater is not a good combo. Audio also wasn't great. Sounds like they were overdriving low-range PA speakers. Very bright and harsh sound from the horns. Surround effect was decent. There was some bass to be had; not bad there. Once again, I do get the small town theater expectations. But in the future, I'd just wait until we were in a better theater with a proper movie-going experience. Keeping in mind the reason why folks spend money on a movie in the first place is the experience.
