Take me back to the islands!…read more Came here for some garlic shrimp (bomb), aloha chicken (a little dry) some fish jun (a little dry as well but it's mahi they use here) and a breakfast burrito (really big but lots of rice) Being a fan of auntie mailes and eating everything local this was definitely a hit. I wouldn't say the food totally delivered but the service and the hawaiian spirit lives on here. We came on a Sunday and they had a live duo here. It was nice, would do it again soon. One thing we wished we had done was pay in advance for the malasadas. Apparently we didn't and the line grew longer during lunch. So we will have to try the pizza and the malasadas another weekend. They have breakfast all day long so I definitely will partake in some of that the next time we're here. Parking is a little bit of a pain but parking at Rascals was okay since they closed.

The signage was very confusing as the building says Aloha PIZZA. After determining it was the…read morecorrect place, I was disappointed to learn it really does focus on pizza (I had been sent here by Island Rootz, a sister place). I was looking for chicken teriyaki like they have at Island Rootz. The girl recommended a chicken dish that was "similar", but with dark meat. Again I was disappointed because when I got home, it was FRIED! I don't eat fried chicken (try to stay away from fried foods in general). Telling me it was similar, I didn't bother to ask so partially my bad. I'm sure all the food is tasty, including the pizza, but I now know to ask about menus and specific items instead of trusting someone's suggestions completely. Posting so others are aware the menu here is not similar to Island Rootz and Auntie Maile's (both places I LOVE!!).

(Dined 07/29/22 FR @ 8:00pm): Honestly... who didn't love anything that was snowie, icy, or a…read moredessert!? I recently enjoyed a viewing of "Jurassic Park" during an Eat See Hear event at Los Angeles State Historic Park when I was first introduced to Snowie Icy Desserts Food Truck. Although I frequently attended, worked, or volunteered at the myriad of year-around events throughout Southern California, this was my very first encounter with this meals-on-wheels. If you knew me at all, I LOVED all-things Hawaiian and shave ice was one of my favorite things to eat even as a meal itself. Would all of this bode well or would I desert this truck for another!? QUICK BIO "Snowie Icy Desserts and its owner Gisselle Lopez will transport you to the Islands with her beautiful mobile tiki shack! Their fluffy ice is available in over 30 flavors and their authentic Hawaiian toppings will definitely be a hit at your next event! If your party prefers ice cream they can offer a delicious sundae bar that will surely cater to everyone's palate. If you really want to make sure your guests have the sweetest experience, surprise them with our Fairy Floss Gourmet Cotton Candy treats; they're pure deliciousness!" PURCHASE Mango Watermelon Flavored Shave Ice ($5.00): On this sweltering day, nothing sounded better than shave ice. This fluffy mound of feathery soft ice was so delicate it started melting instantly. With an abundance of sweet mango and watermelon syrup throughout, you also had the option to add a drizzle of condensed milk on top and a scoop of ice cream at the bottom. This was edible art at a bargain price https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=wHErc9oORPDIJSEiUmXwng&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw! SERVICE A friendly woman greeted me, quickly took my order, and minutes later my order was ready, all decked-out in its glorious colorfulness in a festive flower cup. All was chillin' - aloha and mahalo! PARKING (Varied; FREE this instance) Being a food truck, they were at the beck and call wherever the event was held. In this case, the event took place at a state park with plenty of paid parking, FREE and timed street parking along the main drag of Spring St. and surrounding side streets, or you GoMetro as I did to the Chinatown Gold Line Station. Another option was a driving service like a bus, taxi, Lyft, or Uber - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE Your standard self-sufficient food truck with an exterior food menu, order and pick up windows, but no area for condiments, napkins, utensils, or designated seating area. Plenty of natural lighting was prevalent during the daytime while minimal electric park and streets glowed at night. There were no TVs unless you considered the movie screen and movie that played in the background. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=HTgLGqT9_BTSQMYyClmJvQ&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL I loved the Snowie Icy Desserts Food Truck and would definitely seek them out again at the next event I attended or worked. Heck... I just might hire them for a private party (951-216-8752)! First and foremost, they sold the far-superior shave ice and not the much-inferior show cone because there is a very distinct difference. Although I only tasted two flavors, I wanted to try them all! One simple request would be to offer azuki beans, coconut, and jackfruit as additional toppings. The price, portion size, and service were perfect. And, if shave ice wasn't your thing as crazy as that sounded, they also sold ice cream and other simple sweet confections. I found complete value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $5.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice...AMEX! 5.0 STARS
