See that stand on the corner? Taste and be refreshed!
    Noemi M.

Never in my life have I tried a better tasting snow cone/raspado than Sno-con AMOR. Seriously, it's seriously good! And this is coming from a person who isn't a big fan of snow cones. So, you have to believe me when I tell you that these snow cones are FRICKIN good! It was last week at the Hollywood Farmers Market when someone approached me with a sample. I was instantly intrigued. That was when I was introduced to their watermelon basil snow cone. Oh, WOW. And what a perfect way to refresh oneself when the weather is warm. If you ever had agua naturales or even a Taiwanese slushy, this was kind of like that, but made daily with natural ingredients (organic whenever possible). Plus, no refined sugars! You probably know by now that refined sugars are bad for you, right? Right?! The ice they use is soft in texture. Doesn't taste like the water came out of a faucet. You know what I'm talking about. And the texture of the toppings were really pleasant, not watery but almost slightly chunky. Very yum! It turns out that they have this little stand tucked in the northwest corner of Ivar and Selma every Sunday. I asked them if they have a store. Instead they said they cater for different events, whether it be for parties or festivals. With summer just around the corner, people in SoCal now have a great way to stay cool.

You don't feel like you're eating shaved ice! You feel like you're eating a fluffy cloud! When you walk in, you are greeted by kiosks where you place your order. You don't have much interaction with the staff other than than they calling out your number when your order is ready Only downside is they were playing music way too loud! The store itself had maybe 1-2 other parties inside... but the music was too loud we practically had to yell at each other to MAYBE hear the person right next to us. I definitely was not a fan of that vibe. The dessert itself though was phenomenal

I feel like the large should get a bigger portion but idk maybe that's just me. It also sucks because if you want more of the milk topping you have to pay extra, sooo :/ Otherwise, I loved it and I'll definitely be back to try the other flavors!

We ordered taiyaki, hotteok, ginger tea, and chamomile tea to share. Unfortunately, the ginger tea was too sweet--it was almost impossible to drink. Ginger tea should have a natural ginger flavor, but the sweetness completely overpowered it. It also seemed like the café might have changed owners because the menu looked a little different. What surprised me the most was how much their tea service had changed. In the past, when you ordered tea, it was served in a glass teapot with matching glass teacups so everyone could share. Now they said they only have paper cups, and each person has to order their own tea separately, similar to how Starbucks serves drinks. That was the most disappointing part of the visit. I went there expecting the same experience as before, but it was completely different, which was quite surprising. I was also disappointed with the outdoor seating. They used to have comfortable cushioned sofas outside, but they've all been replaced with hard metal chairs and tables which made the outdoor seating much less comfortable.

There was a small line forming prior to opening. We waited about 20 minutes for our order to be made. We shared the Sunset Beach and added the Snow Cap. Probably best to skip the snow cap. I didn't taste the condensed milk at all. The flavor is delicious. Towards the bottom of the shaved ice, there wasn't anymore flavor though.

Only thing I knocked down a star is because Not all the workers know the answers to your questions of what is in what food item or if you can substitute the milks. So that's something Cafe Upper should train all staff. Especially if people have food allergies.
