Wow! I had an entirely too long travel day, and Koon Thai was a pleasant bright spot in my long day. I chose the take out option where you order at the counter. The woman who took my order was very friendly and helpful. I ordered the Panang Curry with beef and a Thai Tea with coconut milk. It only took about 15 minutes or so, and I was off. The Panang Curry was wonderful! Maybe I was hungry, but it was SO good. The tea was also excellent! I will definitely be back. It is very close to Orlando International Airport. read more

The food was a 10!!!! The server? Looked super unhappy! Not chatty, didn't smile once. No suggestions, didn't make me feel like I was wanted as a patron. I hope he was having a really bad day and he isn't like this all the time with a large group of 20. Overwhelmed? Maybe... who knows. I don't even know his name or what he sounds like. He said 5 words the entire time. Weird experience. He was American so don't think for one minute there was a language issue. I don't understand how people in the hospitality industry (in a major city like Orlando and nearest the airport ) can show zero personality while entertaining patrons. Food is great but who wants to be served like that... strangest experience ever he could have won an Oscar. You have to try to be THAT un personable. The food and the service execution were great... makes me sad. Could have been a memorable fantastic occasion. No matter good the food is you want to know your wanted and appreciated. The food here is good but the service and layout of the place could use improvement. I don't think they treat their customers well. I drove 30 mins to get here and found out they don't even have a system for a wait list for people who want to be seated. They said it's first come first serve and there is no waiting area to sit and it was raining outside. If multiple people want to dine in, it's left up to the customers to figure out who was first. The server who told me that was rude and had an attitude when he talked. I would've gone to another restaurant but I already planned to meet a friend there. The food was actually good and the service during the meal was fine. But the server spoke in a rude manner again when checking out. I don't know if he's overworked so he's cranky- the establishment should figure out how to staff better or to train their staff better with customer service manners. In either case, people are paying with their money to give this place business and deserve to be treated well. I will not return again because I've never had such a hassle with dining in at a restaurant which is supposed to be an enjoyable experience. It's a shame because the food was yummy. What an amazing Thai restaurant. The ambience is just stunning. I love the lights in the ceiling and the wall decorations. But what's more important is the food was phenomenal. Both the curry and the pad Thai were some of the best that we've had! The people the people at the table next to us were even commenting on how good it was. I think it's deceiving when you walk in because you are unsure what to expect. It's almost like you're going to order at the counter, but then they seat you. Koon Thai is a clean and nicely decorated Thai restaurant. I started with the Thai iced tea which was not over sweet. I enjoyed it. Ordered fried dumplings, Pad Thai with medium spice and a tom kha soup with chicken. The kitchen is small and the place was half full on our visit. They were also doing a good amount of take put orders. They have beer and wine for those drinkers. The fried dumplings were decent. The presentation for all the food was amazing. The pad Thai was next level good. It has shrimp and they left the peanuts on the side. It was the perfect amount of spice and they gave us extra chili oil just in case. The highlight for me was the tom kha soup which for me was other worldly good. It was perfect. Koon Thai is in a commercial area near the airport. There are a lot of other restaurants here. First time here for dinner last night. Ordered our usual favorites, Tom Kha soup with chicken, beef panang and chicken pad Thai. Everything was delicious. However, soup hardly had any chicken in it and had lots of whole mushrooms which was different. Also different was the broccoli in the panang which we've never seen. Pad Thai was probably one of the best I've had. Service was different here. You enter and see a counter where you would think to order first. A sign says to take a menu and find a seat. A server comes to take orders but you have to pay at the front counter. Overall, the place has a nice and cozy atmosphere. read more

This was my second time at Koon, and I'm so glad I came back! The first time I went was with a friend, she asked if I had ever tried it, and when I said no, she was like "let's go!" I'm so happy she introduced me to this place. It's a small, cozy, family-owned spot, which makes it feel really welcoming. The food was so good the first time that I had to bring my husband back to try it. This time we ordered the yellow chicken curry and the pad cashew nut, and both dishes were amazing, full of flavor and super satisfying. We originally stopped by just for mango sticky rice after eating next door at the Mexican restaurant. A week later, I came back for dinner and--holy smokes. While staying at a hotel close by traveling on vacation, my wife found this spot, we took a rideshare there because it was so hot and we were not disappointment. We were greeted warmly and were immediately seated. It wasn't crowded. They have a multitude of freshly made options and Thai faves. We started with the crispy spring rolls and crab rangoons. Both were bursting with flavor. They come beautifully served on a board of greens, shredded carrots, and hibiscus blossom. The chicken fried rice is served heartily--they give you enough to take home. Everything was amazing, the bathrooms were spotless, and the milk teas are a great refresher after enjoying what tasted a great homemade Thai lunch or dinner. I was excited to see a Thai restaurant near me that had Pad Prik Khing on their menu. So I decided to give it a try and places a take-out order. The restaurant is clean and comfortable inside; nice for casual dining. My Tom Yum soup was good, hot, and perfect heat (I chose mild). The Pad Prik Khing (I chose chicken as my protein) was a little disappointing. Presentation was nice, but the chicken and green beans were sitting in a bowl of broth. It usually has a red curry paste that kind of sticks to the chicken & veggies; saucy and definitely not a broth. Came here for dinner after Disneyworld and what a treat it was to find this gem. The food here was great and the portions were generous. We ordered the crab rangoon, papaya salad, panang curry, pad thai, and the mango sticky rice. It was so satisfying and really hit the spot. Hands down the BEST food I've ever had in Orlando. I used to live here for three years and recently returned for a family trip. We stayed at the hotel across the street and decided to walk over. It's a small family owned restaurant and the Mom is the cook. You can tell the food was cooked with love. It was HOT, FRESH, & EXTREMELY Good. Pretty great place with lots of options, including Bubble Tea! I ordered a Pad Thai with shrimp. It was a difficult choice because, like I said, there were a lot of very good options. My order was a to go order but as I waited, the staff delivered great customer service with attention and offered ice water and comfortable seating while I waited. I also ordered the Crab Rangoon. It wasn't a bad taste but I believe I'm more accustomed to the Chinese rendition of this dish, which tends to be sweeter in taste. I found the taste more on the saltier/ creamy side, which is still good, but not what I expected. Again... not bad but not what I wanted. Aside from that, clean place with great service. I would give them 5 stars as the food was spectacular, with one exception. We ordered a soup at a heat level of 1. It was more like a 2 or 4 level. Next time we will order at the default level of 0 and add our own heat. The 3 flavors of curry and Penang were great. Their heat was 1 as well, but the rice took away some of the heat. 12/29/25: The food was very good, we yelped for a good Thai Restaurant to do brunch before we flying back to California and Koon Thai attracted us. I ordered the Panang curry (Thai Hot), and my wife ordered the Pad Thai. Both meals were very good. I liked the, "heart" rice presentation, nice touch! The service was very good, both employees asked if we needed anything and if all was good (important to me.) Also, the bathrooms were very clean (This is a also big deal to me.), especially if the employees use the same restroom. If the restroom is dirty it makes me wonder about their hygiene and what my food will taste like. But rest assure the restrooms, here, is very clean! Finally the ambiance was nice and mellow. We would return here again... Constructive critique only: To the Caucasian employee, you're a nice guy, but when I first saw you, it appeared as if you didn't want to be there and couldn't wait till your day ended. You cannot go wrong with anything on their menu! If you want to stick to the basics, I would recommend the chicken fried rice or the chicken pad Thai. Their entrees are HUGE, definitely enough to share between two people. Their sides are so delicious, I ordered crab rangoons and mango stick rice, both 10/10. I've been eyeing this restaurant for a while, but was skeptical because I'm pretty picky when it comes to Thai food. I was so relieved and HAPPY once I tasted everything! We ordered pad Thai chicken, tom yum soup for the able, cashew chicken, garlic fried rice and Penang curry and it was all so good. I regret not taking any pictures, but everything was plated like standard Thai food. The service was great, and the ambiance was nice. The portions sizes are great, we all left satisfied and with a bit of leftovers. The woman working was also kind enough to let me have a hibiscus tea that was really yummy.
