Like the old saying goes "it takes a lot of Balls to play like me" Really, a lot. I carry maybe 20-30 and sometimes have to borrow some from whomever I'm playing with. This course is so nice and the grass in immaculate and green and strong and the greens are always in perfect condition. The other big thing is that PVIGC has the very first island green ever. Anywhere. I do like the ocean course a little better but the island course is still very taxing for us amateurs.

It could turn a 380 yard par 4 in to a hard par 5! The front desk and bag people were very friendly. My only complaint came from one of their Marshall's, Skip. We waited on almost every hole for the front nine, the group in front was encouraged to play faster and they did. We played along the back nine at a good pace, never slowing the group behind us down at all...ever. So the Marshall approached us on the 18th tee and told us we were slow and we needed to speed up. Really? On the 18th tee? He could have been kind but he chose to be more a harsh jerk. Goes to show that one person can change the impression of a business.

People are very friendly in the shop, and all over. Played on a Saturday at 9:20. Played front in 1:15 then ran into groups. Played back in 1:45 for a 3 hour round! On a Saturday! That's why I love private golf! Will definitely have my club in Illinois hook me up again when I am Back in spring,

Several small neighborhoods exist within the larger community. I lived on the main drive that winds from gate to gate, so I can't speak to the smaller pockets but each one had it's own personality. Harbor Island was definitely a sight to see with personal docking stations for that small yacht your neighbor may have. With previous neighbors like Tony Boselli, Tom Coughlin, and Mark Brunell it was always nice to see them out and about in the early days of the Jaguars career. The clubhouse area itself is gorgeous. With ample parking, you can dine in the clubhouse, play tennis, take a swim or hit a few balls on the driving range. The clubhouse used to be our brunch destination on Sundays and with great views of the golf course it was easy to understand why it was popular. The guards working in the security gates are friendly and personable. It even got to a point as a teenager where they would recognize friends that were 'regular visitors' and never gave to much of a hassle for people trying to come in.

As of 2021, it has the biggest purse ($15,000,000) and winner's share ($2,700,000) among all Tour events. Yes, the Tour Championship pays more. In 2019, the Tour Championship's "bonus pool" reached a record $70,000,000 with $15,000,000 going to the 1st place winner alone, but that money isn't considered official earnings by the Tour. Instead, it's considered FedExCup "bonus money." The Players Championship is often regarded as the "fifth major." It's a prestigious event that draws top-notch fields year in and year out. The event is owned and operated by the PGA Tour. It's held annually in March (previously May) at TPC Sawgrass where the Tour's national headquarters are located. TPC Sawgrass has two courses, the famous Players Stadium Course where this tournament takes place, and the lesser-known, but still great Dye's Valley course, designed by legendary course architect Pete Dye and Bobby Weed. The Players Stadium Course is unique and stunning, filled with numerous water hazards and large, long bunkers that run parallel to many of the fairways. Like the Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale where the Waste Management Phoenix Open is held and Augusta National Golf Club where the Masters is held, The Players Stadium Course was designed with spectators in mind. The par-3 17th hole island green is one of the most iconic in golf. The course has appeared in several video games, most notably EA Sports' PGA Tour. Oh yeah and the clubhouse? Talk about one of the most beautiful and grandiose in golf. The Players Stadium Course is also made for TV. The TV coverage, which has been handled by NBC and Golf Channel in recent years, is second only to CBS and the Masters, in my opinion. I'm sure it has to do with the Tour's complete involvement with this course and event. Like the Masters, in addition to limited commercial interruptions, coverage of The Players includes better-than-average shot tracking and statistics and video-game-like 3D models of the greens for enhanced analysis. Many of golf's biggest names and greatest players have won this event. Congratulations to the latest Players champion, Justin Thomas, who won this year (2021). I've never seen JT so emotional after a win than after he won The Players this year. Some of my favorite players to win in the past decade include Jason Day (2016), Rickie Fowler (2015), Tiger Woods (2013), and Matt Kuchar (2012 - Go Jackets!). Rory McIlroy (2019), Webb Simpson (2018), Sergio Garcia (2008), and Phil Mickelson (2007) have also won. Jack Nicklaus has the most wins (3) followed by Fred Couples, Steve Elkington, Hal Sutton, Davis Love III, and Tiger (all tied at 2 each). However, Jack's three victories occurred before the tournament moved to TPC Sawgrass in 1982. I will end this review with two memorable moments at The Players on 17. In 2015, Kuch chipped one-handed with his back to the green: https://twitter.com/PGATOUR/status/1369634412778954758. In 2019, Kevin Na walked his putt in and Tiger followed suit: https://twitter.com/PGATOUR/status/1369276659300524032.
