It took me some processing time to get to writing this review, but I think it's time now. I took my…read moreShiba pup to this vet about 11 years ago, and then switched vets because I moved further away. In June 2026, I was frantically calling vet offices after receiving an unforeseen and distressing diagnosis for my (then-senior) Shiba at the emergency VCA in Fountain Valley. The receptionist was very attentive and nice, and was able to get us seen straight away in the morning when they opened. Aside from the really great customer/patient service, the lobby was small, but very clean. The atmosphere isn't dreary, which I really appreciated at the time. We were seen by Dr. Acevedo, who was very professional and warm. I explained what was happening to my 11.5 year old boy--he was diagnosed with pericardial effusion, cardiac tamponade with ascites--and she explained very thoroughly what they were going to do that day. I did have to drop him off for most of the day and pick him up at the end of it, which I didn't love, but I understand it's because I was basically a very last-minute appointment, and the procedure they were going to do was a drain plus radiographs along with other tests. Unfortunately, as his symptoms progressed aggressively and Dr. Acevedo had results to talk about with me, she let me know over the phone that the prognosis was not good. I then went in, where she showed me the radiographs and gave me a detailed explanation of what she was seeing, and even compared my dog's x-ray to a healthy dog's x-ray to help me understand better what was happening. Dr. Acevedo was very sincere, she told me she's seen this several times before, and the outlook based on what she saw would mean my boy would be in a constant state of recovery. Eventually, I made the very painful decision to lay him to rest with an at-home service with a different practice the next week. Overall, Dr. Acevedo was incredible. Because his decline was so rapid, I was constantly blowing up the phone at her office asking about everything ranging from treatments, to what I should look out for so that I don't wait too long to lay him to rest. Every time, she was very informative and tried to help me with what I was going through with my best friend. Thank you to everyone at Lincoln Animal Hospital. When the time comes, I will be glad to bring my next pup back here. It's worth the drive.

Dr. Cho did an amazing job removing it, and my dog's recovery was quick and smooth. Before Dr. Cho, we were preparing ourselves to put him down as my dog seemed to be in pain all the time and it was hard for us to see him like that. Dr. Cho was also incredibly accommodating and supportive as I prepare to fly my dog to Hawaii, which has very strict and detailed pet entry requirements. Even though this was something the clinic had never done before, Dr. Cho went above and beyond by researching everything thoroughly to make sure I could bring my dog with me. He ordered the FAVN Rabies Titer Test and will be issuing my dog's health certificate prior to arrival in Hawaii. Throughout the entire process, Dr. Cho has been patient, attentive, and caring. The staff are also great! They're all friendly, professional, and always helpful. It's unfortunate that my dog will be in Hawaii... otherwise Dr. Cho would absolutely continue to be my dog's vet. The pictures shows my dog before we found Dr. Cho, immediately after the surgery, and then yesterday's picture where we celebrated my dog's 12th birthday. Also a plus that Dr. Cho's office is immaculately clean and modern. I'm very glad we found Dr. Cho. If you're looking for an amazing, knowledgeable, and caring vet, I would definitely recommend Dr. Cho. You won't be disappointed!

Dr. H suggested an abdominal ultrasound, and we found a vet who could do one the same day. Before we left Little Cottonwood, Dr. Horvath gave Lily sub-Q fluid and something to help her relax in lieu of all of the trauma that she was going through. After the ultrasound, we heard bad news - cancer. The diagnosis was enough information we needed to make a decision. I can't say how peaceful it is to KNOW what the diagnosis is and KNOW that we can make a decision based on facts. Dr. Horvath opened her schedule up again, set us up in a very private room in her office, and gave us the time we needed with Lily before helping her pass over the Rainbow Bridge. Losing a beloved pet of 18 years is so difficult. I am grateful for the support and knowledge Dr. Horvath provided during Lily's long life, but also what we needed when the time came to make a difficult decision. The prices were reasonable and we did not feel pressured to buy any services that were cost-associated. Thank you, Dr. Horvath, for excellent kitty care of our sweet Lily, and helping her transition in peace. Photos: Because Lily lived so long, she helped me mother 6 of our 7 dogs. Below are 4 of the dogs from her dog collection. RIP, Lily.

I asked people on the NextDoor app to recommend & after some communication, I chose this place. I just finished reading mostly bad reviews and am quite surprised. Two of the staff actually picked up my dog because she was not walking & too heavy for me to carry. They handled her with care and compassion. Prices don't seem outrageous with $60 being the check up fee and quotes given for recommended meds & potential other services. Front desk staff and phone etiquette is a plus.

After nearly 18 years of taking my dogs to another veterinary hospital (Washington Blvd. Animal…read moreHospital in Whittier), I finally reached my limit with the declining level of service and decided to seek a second opinion for my dog, who had been sick for over a month with no answers. I am so glad I found Lakewood Pet Vet. From beginning to end, the experience was completely different. They were able to get two of my dogs in for appointments the very next day, and the level of care, attention, and compassion we received was outstanding. Amanda at the front desk was sweet, knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful. Sylvia, who handled their intake and vitals, was equally kind and caring and took the time to be very detailed. Dr. Dang was wonderful--thorough, knowledgeable, gentle, and tender with my dogs. What really blew me away was that Dr. Dang's initial diagnosis was right on target even before all of the lab results came back. She immediately began treating my dog for a deep ear infection, a UTI, and both yeast and bacterial infections on her paws. After FOUR visits to our longtime vet in ONE MONTH and repeatedly being told they couldn't find anything wrong, finding out that my dog actually had several issues requiring treatment was astonishing and incredibly upsetting. The follow-up care has been just as impressive. I received a call that same evening to check on how my dogs were doing. Dr. Kai, who was on duty, also called to personally go over the test results and check on them. Then, to my surprise, Amanda called again later that afternoon to follow up. When I told her one of my dogs was still showing signs of distress, she immediately relayed that information to the veterinarian on call, who later contacted me with additional recommendations. This is what veterinary care should feel like. Lakewood Pet Vet has truly exceeded my expectations. My dogs are still ill, and it's only been two days since treatment began, so we're not out of the woods yet. But after spending more than a month searching for answers, simply knowing that their problems have finally been identified and are actually being treated has given me tremendous peace of mind. For the first time in weeks, I feel hopeful that we're moving in the right direction. Crossing my fingers that my babies continue to improve! Thank you to Amanda, Sylvia, Dr. Dang, Dr. Kai, and everyone at Lakewood Pet Vet for making us feel like my dogs' health genuinely matters.

He had localized cancer in one limb and we chose amputation and he lived happily for years with careful follow up within this clinic and was put down with compassion and love when his time came to cross the rainbow bridge. We were mailed a note from staff along with his cremation which we still have. I brought my now senior cat (17 years old) here and did not feel the same kindness and I'm very disappointed and miss the previous team. I was informed we're starting with blood work but his symptoms may indicate neurological up to and including a brain tumor. I do not disagree with this assessment or recommendations as I work in the medical field and brought him in for these concerns. With that said, there is a way to deliver this information with kindness (as I previously received by Dr Gambles practice for my other cat) that was not delivered today. I inquired prior to my appointment if it would have to be a drop off appointment and they said no, exams are with the pet parent present however my cat needed blood work. Feisty as he is, he would need sedation. This sedation I was told was only gas. I'm certainly aware this does not require hours of recovery but I understand the need for drop off. However, I was told they would call me when pickup is ready and I told the tech I need some time frame. I was informed it would be 6+ hours "because we have other clients". I could understand if the rational was sedation for a period of time, but to keep my cat, in distress for being at the vet, for 6+ hours for blood work due to other clients when I made an appt discussing my concerns before coming seems excessive. Upon my question for this concern my cat was just brought out to me. I appreciate this as I do not want my cat in care where his time isn't considered as my main concern is his comfort especially in his age and condition. Overall, I won't be returning. I'm very disappointed in the care that has changed at this clinic. This is not the care that would have ever been delivered with Dr Gamble. **follow up, my cat had an appt with a different clinic and got blood work twice with me present in the room. He was treated with compassion which led to him being compliant without sedation. Additionally, the vet heard a heart murmur that was not discussed at the conclusion of this previous vet assessment. This makes me question the thoroughness of the assessment and the need for sedation as I was not present when they stated they attempted blood work.
