I am in LOVE with Kosmos and its concept!! It all began as an Indiegogo gamble with spending $50 to get a 50% discount on your first stay. Ok! I'm intrigued and I'm in. As with the rest of the world, people were scarce and supplies were delayed. Gamal kept us updated on the progress and I was able to make a reservation for April 2026 as a surprise for the hubs. After a couple months of making my reservation, I had to change it to May 1-4, 2026 due to my work schedule and Kosmos easily made the change. As our date got closer and I inquired about massage availability, Kosmos asked if I would be open to postponing our trip to 2027 when the Spa would be fully functional. I declined since I took the time off of work and was already keeping this secret from the hubs. Kosmos accommodated my request but stated that they were in Phase 0, which I understood and accepted. Even though the Resort has 4 villas and is bare bones, we had the most amazing time!! I also paid for the All-inclusive, but because they only offered breakfast and lunch, Kosmos scheduled in-villa massages to make up for the dinners, which we enjoyed immensely. Ellie was our massage therapist and she was AMAZING! She listened to our needs and worked on those problem areas. The villa is AWESOME!! It has a king size bed, a long hall through the bathroom to your private hot tub, and the best part, the dome is so cool!! Kosmos has thought about what you need for your vacation including a kitchen with a microwave, stovetop, kettle, air fryer, Nespresso machine, filtered water, dinnerware, glassware, and silverware. They also have a camping propane heater to keep you warm outside while you stargaze with their provided Celestron telescopes and binoculars. Prior to arriving, we chose our breakfast and lunch entrees. They were delicious and hearty! I asked that our lunch be placed on our kitchen counter due to us being out and Kosmos not only delivered, but ensured that our food was fresh. We just had to air fry the onion rings and fries. The best part is that the hubs loved it and was like a curious child with the telescopes showing me all the nebulae, stars, and planets he saw. We are planning to come back in a couple years. While it is still in Phase 0, it's not perfect, but life in general, is NOT perfect. Gamal is working towards making his vision a reality and is making improvements as the days pass. If you are good with the grassroots phase, you should book a villa immediately!! read more

I really wanted to love this place - it wasn't terrible but it is not worth the price. It is fun. The night sky was full of stars. The telescopes were easy enough once we actually understood. Our initial walkthrough with a staff member the information was mixed up with the telescopes so we were using them incorrectly. We also were locked out of a supplied iPad making one telescope useless to us. The chairs and couch are white and have plenty of dirt and whatever else stains. There are parts of the wall falling apart but it didn't take away from anything. Just noticeable and seems odd for such a high price place. They call a million and ten times to check in with you before your reservation. They email and text conflicting information. So I never knew what to believe - I just started ignoring. There were many things "not working" or "we haven't worked that out yet" such as the AC. It was hot during the day - you have to leave windows and doors open to get air in but then you are inviting bugs. The water is well water (I am assuming) so it does have that sulfur smell - there is no hand soap so bring that for the bathroom. We did pay for the breakfast just because we didn't want to rush out to feed our kids - it was delivered and they were great about communicating. Unfortunately, it was so salty though and no one could even stomach a quarter of it. read more

If I could give negative stars to this place, I would. I was an original Kickstarter investor and had plans to stay at the villa in May 19-23, 2025, which was confirmed in an email back on Sept 13, 2024. On March 29, 2025, I received an email stating that the villa wasn't ready and that our stay would be impacted. Can I kindly push my reservation back by a year, with the promise of being upgraded to all inclusive benefits? I said sure. Our stay was changed to May 19-23, 2026. On May 4, 2026, I received a phone call from Hazel, who's in charge of booking accommodations, and she told me that again, our stay must be pushed back. I immediately said that that wasn't acceptable, that we already had our flights to Denver booked, and she mentioned that it's because the other villa is only 70% completed and the county won't allow the resort to have guests there until they pass inspections. Why that fact would affect our reservations, I don't know, unless the resort was planning on putting people in the villa that hasn't yet passed inspections..... I emailed the general email of the resort (because the website's form wasn't working) and asked for the owner to call me, lest I report that this whole operation is a scam. He did, we talked, he offered to refund my stay and I told him he's welcome to do that if he also pays for my non refundable airfare tickets. He didn't want to do that. I express that I truly believed in this project and wish to see him succeed, if only he built better systems and provided better service which, in the end, all luxury hotels are truly about. He said that people like me (from California) have high standards, and I said no, we just have standards. And where did he think most of his clients would be from, if not wealthy families from places like California and Texas? So I receive an email confirmation that our booking is all good to go that same day, May 4. My husband and I fly here to Denver on May 16. May 19, the start of our reservation, is tomorrow, so I go back to the confirmation email we received on May 4 to input my information. But once I click the link, our reservation is shown to be canceled. I call Hazel, she says that she'll check on things for me and call me back in 15. She never did, and all my calls are now going to voicemail. Here's the scoop, you guys. According to an article on gazette.com... The CEO of Kosmos Resort is named Gamal Jadue Zalaquett. His "real estate family" moved from Chile to Miami after losing their entire fortunes after Chile's economic downturn in the 2000s. He has allegedly built businesses (which may or may not have been successful) and envisioned Kosmos, which is a $13 million project. He crowdfunded and raised about $2 million through Indiegogo, Kickstarter, etc. That's still $11 million short of completing the project. The same gazette.com article mentioned that Zalaquett "over the past four years, [purchased] 1,300 acres as "leverage" for funding Kosmos, which sits on 40 acres he bought for $11,000." Let's check the math. $11,000 for 40 acres is $275 per acre. 1,300 acres, if they cost all about the same, is $375,500 worth of land. $375k in no way will fund $13 million, even when used as collateral. I have a background in commercial real estate and 1,300 acres of absolutely useless land will not sway bankers to write a loan. So my GUESS... Zalaquett used his $2 million from crowdfunding, started the project, and extremely quickly ran out of cash. Go on Reddit, and you will read about folks who call this place a scam, have been refused refunds, and reported this business to Colorado's Attorney General office and Better Business Bureau. Me, I'm just going to finish my vacation off in Denver and write this off as an experience with a young man of extreme hubris, zero ethics, and zero business savvy. I am giving 5 stars when the experience was not a five star experience under the recognition that this is still very much a project under construction and there's a long way to go. As I usually like to do, here's the good the bad and the ugly and what to expect as of October 2025. Good: the gentleman who checked us in and brought us our food was extraordinarily kind and patient. He was so nice and eager to help. The telescopes provided in the villa are high tech enough to see some pretty cool things like Saturn. It's a unique experience that's off grid and hopefully will create some lasting memories for the family. The food we got for breakfast and lunch is part of the all-inclusive package was pretty good. The bad: In Villa one the small cooking space makes it difficult to prepare any kind of meal. Once the sun goes down, you're on a reserved water system limiting you to 10 gallons, which just makes for some nervousness especially if you have IBS. The villa is a bit of a fishbowl and there are very few places you can change and there's no view into the villa not a big deal right now, but once the site is built out more, it may be an issue. There's no door between the hot tub room, the sleeping room and the large dome creating temperature issues and privacy issues. The toilet has a barn door with huge gaps again, creating some privacy concerns. When we tried to use the coffee maker, it flipped the breaker. This may just be a new construction issue and hopefully it'll be fixed in the future. The ugly: I hate to put anything here however I would be remiss if I didn't mention that Cosmos tried to cancel my reservation two weeks before we were due to arrive to their credit once they understood that we had other reservations tacked onto this trip nonrefundable they did reschedule someone else. Again I want to recognize much of this is out of their control as I think that they are behind on their building schedule. All of that said, I think this is an interesting concept and worth a stop. I wish the team all the luck and I can't wait to see what the project looks like completely finished. read more

booked for our 40th anniversary we are in Villa one which is the first ever built. It's already coming apart there are I think poor villas that are We are here by ourselves. No one else is here. No one who works here. None of the phone numbers that I have work. I'm sorry the person that trying to reach is not taking calls now this is no way to run a especially when you got Lux and luxurious finishes, but there are no hand towels. There's no ice the air conditioner even in winter and it's like 53° outside doesn't cool anything really but the large living area that has glass on 1/3 of it and at the top doors leak air. This is certainly not luxurious so book at your own. read more

I've been following this place on social media for the past year or so. I've finally made my reservation and I could not be happier with my stay. This is a stargazers dream! The houses were built with a very thoughtful design that made me think I was staying on another planet. It's totally off the grid, and it made for a very unique experience. While I did not have a vast knowledge of stargazing, it did spark my interest to learn more about it. Seeing the night sky without any light pollution, is not something that I'd ever experienced. I can't wait to stay here again. The owner, Gamal, came other introduce himself and gave us a lot of advice on how to maximize our stay. He couldn't have been more kind and it was a true pleasure to meet with him. We discussed their plans for opening a visitors center for stargazing events, and even a spa. These things are coming in the future, so another stay is a must for me. The other person who checked us in was named Roman. He was equally as kind and introduced us to all that the house had to offer. He answered all of our questions in a way that showed that he truly cared about us having the most positive experience during our stay. One thing I want to mention is that this is a true "off the grid" experience and the house is powered by solar energy. Energy conservation is a must here. Definitely read the information on their website regarding everything you must know before your stay. If I had any advice, it would be to bring a battery pack to charge your electronics. On their website, it does mention that the property is under construction, so keep that in mind. It really didn't bother us at all, but just know that going as they continue to build more houses (we stayed here in January 2026). read more

After our 3-night stay last week Nov. 10-13, 2025 in Stargazing Villa #2 at Kosmos Stargazing Resort and Spa near Mosca, Colorado in the middle of the Mysterious San Luis Valley, in writing this review, several words come to mind: unique, spectacular, amazing, awesome, comfortable, quiet, star struck, astronomical, etc., but not quite luxury, elegance or spa. That is because the grand vision is still a work in progress and they are trying very hard to accomplish this lofty goal of a luxurious resort and spa. Given their hard work and persistence so far, they will ultimately reach it. First of all, kudos to the staff and founder CEO, Gamal Jadue Zalaquett, for deftly handling our reservation charges caused by construction delays, albeit with some twists and turns. Our arrival was a joy, as we were personally greeted by Roman who was most friendly, welcoming, warm and helpful. He is an exemplary ambassador and representative of the organization. He showed us around our villa, explaining how things worked and answered all our questions. Throughout our stay, he was always just a text or phone call away to address any needs or questions. First impressions were awe inspiring, especially the living area dome, which is substantial and enormous. We have never stayed in such a unique and awesome space. Equipped with a full-size refrigerator-freezer, 2-burner cook top, small microwave, small sink, coffee maker, and kitchen utensils, it was adequate for light meals in house. The living dome also included a large comfortable couch, two extra single beds, a desk on which were 2 7x60 binoculars, a small dining table set for 4 with plate, utensils and wine glasses. Also in this space were 2 Dyson air purifiers an oscillating fan, several floor lamps and a large in-wall climate control unit for heating and air conditioning. The center rectangular structure housed the main sleeping quarters with a very comfortable king size bed, the main entrance hall, which led into the bathroom area with a separate commode room, two sinks, a large bathtub-shower and spacious wardrobe closet and shelves. Then, continuing on to the other end of the building into the plastic domed hot tub. Outside the back of the unit is a large concrete patio equipped with 4 chaise lounge viewing chairs, a gas fire pit and a tall gas space heater. From the patio, a concrete path extends out to a square concrete pad for setting up telescopes. Included stargazing equipment, in addition to the 2 powerful binoculars, were a huge manual Celestron Starsense Explorer DOB Dobson telescope and a sophisticated large Celestron Origin Mark II Intelligent Home Observatory digital telescope. Also, we were most fortunate in our timing, as we had clear night skies, making for great stargazing and were extremely lucky to be there for the unusual occurrence of the ability to see the Northern Lights and get some quite neat photos. This was a most incredible and awesome experience, not only because of this unique accommodation, but because of the location. The San Luis Valley is a mystical and spiritual place with minimal light pollution at night which presents a night sky filled with more stars than one could see almost anywhere else. We booked a unit for four people over a year ago. They forced us to rebook last year because the unit would not be ready. Then they told us it would be ready six months later--namely, this April. All was locked in, but after making transportation arrangements and travel plans for months in anticipation of enjoying our April reservation, now they tell us the unit will not be ready until 2028! They refuse to refund the money we paid. So, warning: be very careful about the money you give them for something you may not get. This does not appear to be a reputable company to work with. read more

This was without a doubt the worst lodging experience I have ever had. Everything in our villa that provides heat was broken! The hot tub, the water heater, and the thermostat were all broken, and the staff did next to nothing to fix it. We spent the entire stay huddled under blankets in our bed waiting for someone to come fix the issues (no one ever came). Eventually we went into town to get a room at a Super8 just so we could take hot showers. We were promised a full refund for our troubles, and instead they accused us of damaging a telescope to the tune of $4k! We never laid a finger on the telescopes in our villa because we were too busy trying to solve our heating issues. We were treated terribly by the one staff member we were able to contact, and then completely ghosted by their customer service. I have filed complaints with both the CO Attorney General's office and with the CO Better Business Bureau. If others have had negative experiences here I highly recommend filing complaints as well. Both offices are more likely to open up formal cases if they receive multiple complaints. read more
