Here is a letter that I have sent to Dr. Collins at Pulmonary Associates that pretty much says it…read moreall: Dear Dr. Collins, I would like to inform you, if you're not already aware, that your office has very poor business practices and lack of care to provide information to the patient. You had advised that I go thru a Breathing Test even though I had not complained of any issues and my asthma is well under control. Went ahead and took the test in December 2015 and it came back fine. On June 2016, 6 months later, I received a bill for $948.71 for this test! Because I did not meet my yearly deductible (i'm pretty healthy, don't need to go see a doctor very often) the insurance will not cover it. $1000 for a test that your office did not have any courtesy what-so-ever to mention of the cost. How was I to know that you would charge $1000 for a breathing test? If you or your office had the consideration to at least advise me to check with the insurance, I would have called them and made sure that it was covered and have had the option not to go thru with the test since it was not a necessity. On June 29th I spoke with Mr. Brady Johnson with Christiana Care Patient Relationship explaining the situation and requested that they at least reduce the bill, he said that he would put it through for investigation and review and it may take up to 30 days. The day after I spoke with him I receive this letter stating that "He reached out to leadership and review was completed on June 29th and determined that the test was appropriate to better evaluate the current severity of your conditions." Are you telling me that the investigation and review was all done in the same day I talked to him? And what severity of my conditions??!! I had not complained of any issues and my asthma is under control. What I have concluded from this $1000 experience is that Pulmonary Associates as well as Christiana Care do not care about their patients. Most likely the assumption was made that I had met my deductible for the year so lets order an unnecessary procedure to get more money. How often is this been done with your patients? I will not do business with an establishment that has these kind of business practices and does not care. Because in the end that's what your office is, a business, and as they are plenty more to choose from I choose not to come back to you. I will ensure that my reviews on social media of your office and Christina Care reflect my experience described above.

The receptionist was sick, sneezing and coughing into her arm and not wearing a mask. Ironically, there were signs posted about wearing a mask if you are sick. She seemed irritated at having to do her job. She booked me a follow-up appointment and never gave me an appointment card for it, so I don't actually know when it is, despite asking. She rudely waved me away to 'help' the next person, and I never got the information clearly communicated to me. She waved me off and was engaged with the next person already. Because it was frustrating, chaotic and full of airborne germs in the office, I figured it would be better to call and find out. My mistake. Whenever I have tried calling to ask when my appointment is, the phone just rings and puts you on hold forever. No one picks up. The doctor was efficient and said my lungs and heart were strong and clear. Yet they required me to schedule a follow-up visit, for some reason. Anything else could have clearly been done in one appointment, especially since I was given such a good diagnosis of health. I think they're splitting one visit into two in order to bill double. I also think that might qualify for insurance fraud. I am planning on canceling my upcoming appointment, if the office will ever answer their phone.

If they picked up the phone after they ASKED me to call them back I would not have had to drive all the way to Lansdale just to be disrespected. The woman at the check out desk with the glasses has a terrible and not customer service oriented attitude. She rolled her eyes. Idk if she knows empathy is an important part of her job? She was talking on her cellphone in the office when I went in to cancel. This is medicine, lady, idk if you know that. Your job is to help people with real problems, not roll your eyes because you're upset your day got a tiny bit harder. I would give this place zero stars if I could. If you want to be treated like an ATM and not a patient with needs no one takes seriously, Advocare is the place for you! Deplorable.

All in all, I've been very happy with my experience here. My sleep study was five years ago, but I've been coming back every year for my annual follow-up. My sleep study itself went smoothly and the technicians made sure they explained everything they were doing and what would be happening. Overall, they took good care of my during my overnight stay. You get your own private room that is similar to a hotel room with a bed, TV, and private bathroom. While your sleep may not be as comfortable as staying in a hotel due to all the wires that you will be hooked up to, I still managed to fall asleep. They want you asleep by 10:30 or so and they will wake you up around 6:30. I simply took a shower there and then went straight to work. They helped with the type of mask I should wear and have helped with fittings subsequently. For the annual follow-up appointments, the doctor is usually on-time and I've generally seen the doctor within ten minutes of my appointment. The only exception was on my most recent visit, in which I was left in the waiting room for close to 30 minutes past my appointment and there was no one else there. It turned out that my doctor was doing some dictation. Yes this was frustrating, but I will say that this has not been my normal experience. If you find yourself tired throughout the day, you might have sleep apnea and if you need a sleep study, I would recommend the Paoli Sleep Center.

Went to see Dr. Brown (who was very nice and helpful), who ordered an MRI to get a better look. A week later, I called the office to see what the status was of getting my MRI pre-authorized with my insurance. They hadn't submitted it, and said they would. A week later, I called and checked back with "Hunter" at the office. She said she'd check and get back to me. Nothing... so I called again the next week. "Rebecca" said it had to be resubmitted. Yet another week went by so I called again and "Kristy" said she'd look into it. That's when I got a call from Aetna saying they were denying the MRI request and I should have a CT scan. The woman at Aetna told me Pulmonary Critical Care didn't indicate on the pre-authorization request that I'd ALREADY HAD a CT scan in the hospital. So now their office has to call insurance again and provide missing information. Oh, and Aetna said today was the first time they'd received a request for an MRI pre-authorization, so at least three staff members at Pulmonary Critical Care lied to me each time I called. At this point, it's been nearly a MONTH since I first went to Pulmonary and Critical Care and was prescribed an MRI. If I have cancer, I should already be on chemotherapy. But instead I'm still waiting around for these crappy employees to wake up and DO THEIR JOBS. It's not rocket science, people. But it is my life, we are talking about. Don't go here unless you want to put your health and your life in the hands of lazy imbeciles.
