This is by far the best place around to get meat! I've read some reviews on the owner and staff being rude, and in the 14 years I've been coming here they are far from that! I'm always greeted with a friendly smile and the best customer service. I have been in their a few times during their "Rush" and the owner has come out from the meat cutting room to help and obviously has set the standard for all the employees to follow! I will say they are very busy but will chit chat with you like they've known you forever. I have read some of these negative reviews and ask myself "Are you sure you were in Kovasovic's?" With that being said I will always recommend Kovasovic's over all other meat markets and Supermarkets! Keep up the great work! read more

They butcher all their meat. Reminds me of days of old when there were more local meat markets.

First off I must tell you I have a conflict of interest. I have done electrical work for Theo for years. So you know that I have been through their facility many times. I work in a lot of places that I would not think about eating at. But this place is clean and with their new freezer and coolers they have a first rate facility. They are able to handle even more deer and fair animals and still do all their daily meat cutting. All this being said the main point of this review is summer sausage. I took in an elk hind quarter and had them make me Elk pork summer sausage. I like their cheese jalapeño summer sausage and I think it is the very best I have ever had. This last batch was no exception. The cheese is small dice and hangs in the mix and is well distributed throughout the sausage as is the jalapeño. So you can buy his store summer sausage or take some deer in and have a batch made. Either way it will not last long. read more

Kovasovic's is a treat for people who love meat. You walk in and right away you are presented with an array of products, all fresh, all perfectly cut. Everyone is very friendly and knowledgeable. Take it all in, they have a lot of wonderful things to offer. I don't think they are more expensive than Kroger or HEB, especially when you compare quality. Our total for the list below was just above $30. We bought a chicken, 2 rib-eyes, 2 lbs of breakfast sausage and 1 link of smoked sausage. The chicken was excellent. The rib-eyes were a sight to be seen (I posted a picture), grilled up real nice. The breakfast sausage is outstanding. And the smoked sausage was a hit as well. Great cuts! In the world we live in it is sometimes hard to kind a classic, specialized store for anything. Filets were great, chicken delicious, and sausages tasty. Our family has purchased meat a number of times from them. It has always been a good experience until today. We bought a $90 brisket. The brisket looked fine. Once I cut open the package the smell of the brisket was terrible. My wife called them about it. We thought maybe they would give us an exchange or something. The person my wife talked to told her multiple times that the brisket can't be bad. I'm not sure how she would know that but...... We were asked to bring the brisket back to them in the morning. Once my wife told me all of this I threw the $90 brisket in the trash and will never again visit their market. I hate this because we always picked up good cuts of meat from them but I can't afford to throw that much money away. read more

Great quality meat and excellent customer service :) My boyfriend got me to try shopping here, and I'm really glad, I cannot get quality local meat like this elsewhere. Well worth the slight increase in cost. I love the homemade spicy beef jerky they sell, and the pan sausage is very tasty. Any meat I've bought here from roasts to steaks to poultry has been flavorful and fresh. The staff is very knowledgeable, which is a dying skill set in the service industry. Any meat-related question I've posed to these ladies, they have given me honest and useful feedback. Hands down best beef jerky ever. It is amazing. Unlike so many other jerkies, it's actually chewable, very tender, and fresh. I only bought about 1/4 lb and didn't try how amazing it was until I got home- next time I'll be buying way more! We got some beef sticks, too, which are fantastic as well. We also bought some of the local honey (made in Richmond). The staff is very friendly. I will be back to try their meats and of course for that awesome beef jerky! read more

The meat here is pretty decent. Reason for the three stars is that I want to warn those who make credit card purchases here. Especially if you make a special order where you have to put a certain amount down. Be sure that they take out and credit you when you pick up your order. Otherwise, you will pay for the full price of the meat and pay for making the special order. read more

I've going here for the past 6 months or so. I got so tired of the poor quality of meat from the grocery stores. The prices are a little higher than what you might find in the grocery stores, but the quality is so much better. Like they say, you pay for what you get. This place is very clean inside as well. Last Christmas we bought a rib roast for the family and it came out perfect. After that we bought fantastic new york strip steaks and ribeyes. All were very good. The pan sausage they make is ok. The only thing we didn't like was their smoked sausage. I've tried all kinds of smoke sausage trying to find a place that makes good venison sausage. Kovasovic's is a little bland to me. I don't mean it's not spicy hot, it just doesn't taste like there's a lot of flavor and/or smoke to the sausage. Maybe I got a bad batch. Either way, they have some great cuts of meat and I will keep going to them for that. I make it a trip from Sugar Land by going to Pavlock's farmers market for vegetables and fruit after a stop at Kovasovic's. read more

Been to this place probably 5 times now as I have relatives that have been going here forever. Not sure what "smell" another reviewer stated as unless you can't handle an older building or the smell of "meat" then you probably should go back to the burbs or your brand new HEB and leave the common folk alone! lol Also I've had no issues with the marbling on the beef so another "wonder what you're talking about" moment. My favorite is their smoked sausage and hot links, all made in house and can't be beat both taste and price. I load up more each time I visit. Chicken breast are very competitive too as they are from Texas and not made by tyson or any of those other so called farm companies. Needless to say, anytime I'm in town I'm stopping by here to get at least $50 worth. read more

First visit on Saturday and it won't be my last. Bought some skirt steak which was excellent and ground round cooking tonight. Limited budget this trip so only tried a few items. Their jerky is fantastic...thick but tender for jerky. Tried some Boudain and have to admit it's probably the best I've ever had.. not too spicy and not greasy at all. Can't wait to try out other meat items. Three days in a row I've feasted lunch on a Pavlock Farms tomato and boudain....afternoon snack of beef or turkey jerky. Life is good. Update - made meatloaf and very flavorful with little grease in the bottom of the pan. No one had to use any ketchup or any other sauce!!! read more

We went here for some meat after hearing about this place and reading the reviews. I was a bit disappointed on entry, there is a smell to the place not in a good way. I tried a beef stick... One bite and spit it back out. Nasty plain and simple. The other beef in the counter was not of very good quality. Any red meat that does not have marbling is going to be tough because there is no fat fibers. Just look at the pictures people have uploaded you see very little if any marbling. Needless to say we did not purchase any beef. We did try the chicken though and it was ok. Now I know your going to say this is a meat market there is going to be a smell to it. I call bull!!!! I have been to plenty of meat markets and processors. After going to a USDA inspected facility I stay away from markets that have that smell to them. Will not return! read more

I promised an update and here it is. Very clean place, (I don't know what smell that Jerry P was talking about; maybe he brought it with him). They have an excellent selection of fresh & smoked meats. Very nice & helpful staff. And yes, their jerky is wonderful. Different than what you would normally think of when you think of jerky; they use larger cuts of meats that are tender and flavorful. Not at all like the chewy shoe-leather variety sold by most purveyors. It was definitely worth a drive from Katy. read more

Meat is always fresh & the BACON!!! No other taste like it. Employees are friendly. I would recommend to anyone looking to stock up their freezers or just for fresh quality meat for dinner.
