I cannot believe they tried to swindle me. It started out well with Michelle, but then Eye Care…read moreOptical Center turned on me. It was time to get some new sunglasses and I thought I would support one of the local opticians/eye glass stores. Upon entering Eye Care Optical Center in South Miami (next to the Seafood Market and blue roofed stores) I was greeted by Michelle after just a few minutes of browsing. The store was packed with customers. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and actually gave me back honest feedback on how different frames looked on me. I agreed with her likes and dislikes. I thought I might shop around a bit more and visit other stores, but she was so nice that I decided to just go for it. I settled on a frame and wanted prescription and polarized lenses. The total was $300. Expensive, but the frames looked better on me than the ones from Costco. Several weeks later, my prescription glasses were ready. I sit down to try them on with a totally different employee. As soon as she takes them out of the plastic bag, I notice she has a weird expression. The second I see the frames I realize why. They must have been the display frames because there was a huge scuff mark on the bridge. Also, there were scratches all over the plastic frames. I could not believe that they were going to try to pass off old, scraped up frames as new. I tried them on to see if the prescription was alright. I asked the employee how they looked. She said they looked great but I could tell she was nervous, waiting to see if I would say anything about the damaged frame. I finally indicated to her that I was aware of the scratches. The employee begrudgingly apologized and said that it would be another couple of weeks before the sunglasses were ready (with new frame). I would have appreciated if the employee had immediately apologized when she noticed the error instead of waiting to see if I would fall for their scheme. There are so many other places to spend your hard earned money. If you decide to still purchase anything from here, then please check your frames and lenses carefully. I won't be returning.

The best eyewear purchasing experience you can have, now in South Miami…read more The staff is great. Very welcoming and happy to help, never pushy or dishonest. Not like shopping at other stores where frames are locked up and all displayed on walls, organized by brand. At SEE, there are no brands. There are no locks. Everything is yours to try on, and 99% of the frames are priced to include lenses. The frames range in shape, size, color...some are $149 and very basic, some are $399 and are wild colors and shapes. All are extremely high quality, and you're almost guaranteed never to run in to someone with the same pair as you...also--if you're not the type to flaunt brands, THIS is the place for you. Provides cache, but none of it depends on the frame's brand. They also have sunglasses, very high quality and great design. All of which are $99. If you're in the market for (sun)glasses, YOU MUST MUST MUST MUST go. Carmen is an absolute STAR, and can help the pickiest, most reluctant customers choose frames that highlight their best features to the fullest.

I love my new funky glasses (pic to come) & how Carmen reassured me that they were the right choice for me. Also, at another bigger chain glass store (which unfortunately I bought several glasses throughout the year and 2 are giving me problems and they are under 2 yrs old) they even advised not to get any type of frameless glasses....well Carmen swore to me that they will look find with my RX and they look awesome. I so didn't want to look like I had the butts of Coke bottles to look thru. LOL I have gotten so many compliments and it's great for someone which wishes sometimes could take their glasses off and wear contacts. super duper confidence builder. Like Button :) Well I have found my new place! Awesome service (glasses take about 5 working days) & wonderful unique glasses! Ask for Carmen, she's great! :) There are many nice options starting at $69 and if you don't need the lens thinned out or care about the glare (recommend to add this) then I am sure that my pair of specs would have been a lot cheaper, but I am in love with them and I hope they last forever. P.S. My glasses had to adjusted to have a thin lens and also added the no glare option since I was already spending a pretty penny (frame alone was $249). They were not cheap, but I indulged since I had some HSA money saved up plus their groupon which was awesome and was worth $200 (paid $100 I believe)

Its' so unfortunate that good doctors such as Dr raja and Dr Smith have their reputation tarnished because of the negligence of the owners of Med-Eyes Associate to implement/train a more efficient customer friendly appointment staff and respecting clients time when they do show up for their appointments.

When selecting a lens, I followed MED Eye's protocol and asked three staff members--including the surgical coordinator--which lens manufacturer Dr. Raja uses. None of them knew, so I asked them to confirm directly with him before surgery. They later told me Bausch & Lomb, and I made it clear that under no circumstances did I want a lens that sacrificed distance vision. I was fully comfortable using reading glasses for close up work. On the day of surgery, after waiting two hours in pre op at the "Center for Eye Surgery", I learned afterward that Dr. Raja implanted a lens from a company that had only recently received FDA approval--the RayOne EMV Toric. Even worse, he independently modified the lens to induce a myopic target for close up vision, directly contradicting my instructions. This resulted in a significant loss of distance vision. In my research, I found written guidance specifically warning against inducing myopia with the RayOne EMV lens because it reduces distance capability. Because of this error, Dr. Raja had to replace the lens--this time with the Bausch & Lomb lens I originally requested. That second complex procedure lasted close to two hours, during which my iris was severely damaged. I now require another surgeon who specializes in iris repair. Many months later, I am still in the healing process and have not yet been able to undergo the repair. I am also out approximately $5,000 in personal expenses, in addition to the insurance claim submitted to my provider. I have never experienced such poor communication, disregard for patient instructions, and overall incompetence.
