"Warning": Extremely Poor Surgical Experience I do not…read morerecommend MED Eye Associates or Dr. Harish Raja in Miami, Florida for cataract surgery. Before surgery, I followed MED Eye's protocol and asked multiple staff members--including the surgical coordinator--which lens manufacturer Dr. Raja uses. No one knew, so I asked them to confirm directly with him. They later told me Bausch & Lomb, and I clearly stated that I did not want any lens that sacrificed distance vision. I was perfectly fine using reading glasses for close up. Despite this, on the day of surgery--after waiting two hours in pre op at the Center for Eye Surgery--I learned afterward that Dr. Raja implanted a RayOne EMV Toric lens, a product only recently FDA approved. Even worse, he modified the lens to induce myopia for close up vision, the exact opposite of my instructions. This caused a major loss of distance vision. My research later showed written guidance warning against inducing myopia with the RayOne EMV lens because it reduces distance capability. Due to this mistake, Dr. Raja had to perform a second, lengthy, painful surgery to replace the lens with the Bausch & Lomb lens I originally requested. During that procedure, my iris was severely damaged. I now require a specialist for iris repair, and months later I am still healing and unable to proceed with the repair. I am also out approximately $5,000 in personal expenses, plus the insurance claim. I have never experienced such poor communication, disregard for patient instructions, and overall incompetence.

While we waited for the optician to take my mothers orders I tried to find her frames and price the lenses. When it was my mom's turn, the prices she was quoted were higher than the prices I was quoted. The sales person explained that it was to make up for their loss on the "free eye exam." of the eye exam. Of course, they billed the insane were paid for it. With $400 she was only able to get a pair of single vision glasses in a regular frame... no major name brand. They did not even give her the scratch resistant or the UV protection as included in the plan. By the way, they wouldn't sell my mother glasses with the prescription she brought from her ophthalmologist- no outside prescriptions they said. I'm not sure that's even legal for them to do.

I've been going to South Miami Jewelers throughout many years. I've purchased a watch from them, a…read moregold chain and locket, and another locket. They've also repaired a few items. Their service is always impecable. Today I picked up a very valuable 22kt chain that needed a new closure. I was not surprised it was just as I wanted. On the other hand, last year I left a very valuable 22kt ring at another jeweler (on Ponce de Leon, north of Miracle Mile) and asked them to replace a lost pearl on it. I used them because I was doing business with an optician next door and it was convenient. The ring ended up being altered, having quite a bit of gold, I guess, shaved from it. When I noticed the ring was not as wide, of course they denied having done anything to it and I had no way to prove it. ...but I knew that ring like the back of my hand. Ive since found out some unscrupulous jewelers switch out diamonds, etc. I only wish I had taken my ring to South Miami Jewelers. The owners are honest professionals. I'm certain that's why they've been around so long. Btw, the 22kt jewelry I bought in beautiful Thailand.
