This business needs a lesson in how to schedule and value clients time. I was on the phone for 2.5 hours trying to get an appointment for my husband with the best doctor in the group Dr Raja. Unfortunately I had to resort to online appointment. Its' so unfortunate that good doctors such as Dr raja and Dr Smith have their reputation tarnished because of the negligence of the owners of Med-Eyes Associate to implement/train a more efficient customer friendly appointment staff and respecting clients time when they do show up for their appointments. read more

"Warning": Extremely Poor Surgical Experience I do not recommend MED Eye Associates or Dr. Harish Raja in Miami, Florida for cataract surgery. Before surgery, I followed MED Eye's protocol and asked multiple staff members--including the surgical coordinator--which lens manufacturer Dr. Raja uses. No one knew, so I asked them to confirm directly with him. They later told me Bausch & Lomb, and I clearly stated that I did not want any lens that sacrificed distance vision. I was perfectly fine using reading glasses for close up. Despite this, on the day of surgery--after waiting two hours in pre op at the Center for Eye Surgery--I learned afterward that Dr. Raja implanted a RayOne EMV Toric lens, a product only recently FDA approved. Even worse, he modified the lens to induce myopia for close up vision, the exact opposite of my instructions. This caused a major loss of distance vision. My research later showed written guidance warning against inducing myopia with the RayOne EMV lens because it reduces distance capability. Due to this mistake, Dr. Raja had to perform a second, lengthy, painful surgery to replace the lens with the Bausch & Lomb lens I originally requested. During that procedure, my iris was severely damaged. I now require a specialist for iris repair, and months later I am still healing and unable to proceed with the repair. I am also out approximately $5,000 in personal expenses, plus the insurance claim. I have never experienced such poor communication, disregard for patient instructions, and overall incompetence. read more

Waited 45 minutes past my afternoon appointment so I made follow up appointment first thing in the morning at 8:20am and they still somehow aren't ready at the appointment time, been waiting 30 minutes. They are also are slow and very confused and unorganized once finally called back. read more

Waited THREE hours. While the office had two people sitting at desk checking people, they hadn't a care in the world about how the office was otherwise running on or not on schedule. After two hours, I went to the desk and they were surprised I had been waiting so long. And yet, I then waited another hour before I was called to see Dr. Raja who never apologized for the wait and seemed disinterested when I expressed disappointment with having to wait 3 hours. Additionally -- I was told prior to coming that my appt could include an exam not only with the opthalmaologist but also for prescription assessment by the optometrist -- but by the time I finally got to see the opthalmologist, and was then due to see the optometrist, I was told the optometrist had left for the day. Again, no apology, nor an offer by the opthalmologist to do the prescription-related exam, certainly something he was capable of doing. Further, he rcommended I get catarac surgery. When I asked how bad my catarac was on a scale of 1 (not bad) to 5 (bad), he said 1. The recommendation, therefore, seemed to me to be in service of his business and not in service of the patient. Scheduling an appointment here is nearly impossible. Calling involves a two-hour wait, and visiting in person is worse. When I tried to adjust my husband's appointment, the staff member rudely told me to hurry, as if he were doing me a favor. They have 10 locations from Miami to the keys. Since the owner died it is run like a factory with uncaring doctors. They never return phone calls. South Miami location. First the annoying: Sometimes a long wait before being seen, parking often is full, and the waiting area is COLD. Next, what counts: Doctors and professional staff are excellent. Your questions are answered and concerns addressed. This location is more like a hospital - lots of equipment, and lots of tests can be done. A lot can be done in one visit. I highly recommend it. read more

Lack of quality of care. Appointments are made and when my mother arrives doctor is not there or over booked, or no longer takes insurance. For such a large company a better follow up system should be in place. My mother is elderly so appointments have to be organized so transportation is there. This is ridiculous. As a result she has been off of one of her chemo medicines for way too long waiting for this round of eyes injections to be completed. I pray nothing happens. read more

It is a day care. The staff all look to be between 20 and 32 years of age. Hair hanging down, even the doctor. Could even understand when they called out my name. Jesus! Find someone who can pronounce both Spanish and English. Is there an office manager. The doctor prescribes an ointment and it is faxed to the pharmacy I use. Go the next day to pick it up. Good afternoon Roxane, The reason I am writing is because, yesterday I had an appointment with Dr. P. Tare for a Glaucoma study she has advised to do on November 10th, when she saw me for the first time at the Doral Location. I am so disappointed for the lack of professionalism and services at this location. My appt was 10:10am, got there before 10:00am and just sat to wait for my turn to be called. Something was going wrong already with another Patient who did the same as I did. SHE LEFT, FOR THE SAME REASON. I don't know she was waiting for a Glaucoma test as well. I saw the Staff picking and choosing the files placed on the Tray, and it caught my attention, so I just kept observing it. Short story is; by 11:45 am I asked the girl on the Reception what was going on, why were they picking and choosing files, when they are supposed to go by appointment time?, she just reply, I don't know, go inside and ask one of the staff ( nurse, technician). I asked to one wearing like a nurse uniform and said, let me find out with another guy. 15 minutes went by, and I WAS THE ONLY ONE WAITING OUTSIDE BY THIS TIME. A Technician came outside took the record and looked like why do I have to do her? Don't know if the study showed up on that page on the front; then I went to her. You have no choice since I am the last one and you all have been picking and choosing files. What is going on here? is this your operandum mode? I need to talk to the doctor NOW. I JUST CAME FOR THE GLAUCOMA TEST. Then another guy came and said, well, we must do the vision test, etc. Which I got very upset, because I was there 3 weeks ago or so and that has been done. Well, if you don't this, we can't take care of you, and I QUOTE. I just wonder if Dr. Smith and Dr. Tare are aware for this behavior for the front of the house staff or they are part of it?. For me that was the icing on the cake, I just left asked for my money back. I REALLY don't know if you guys operate this unorganized or is the poor lack of judgement and training from your staff, but for me is totally unacceptable. U know things happen but when u have a 2:30 and they tell u it will be 45 min before they call u then they tell u from there it could take more the 2 hrs to be seen by the Dr.. that's very unacceptable I will find another Eye and move on from there. Do not waste your time coming to this place unless you are retired and have nothing else to do. The wait time is horrendous. My appointment was at 10:20 a.m. After an hour of waiting I asked the front desk when I would be seen and they said they were backed up. I asked for the supervisor and I had to wait for the supervisor to show up about 15 minutes afterwards. The supervisor was not apologetic and was actually very aggressively sarcastic. I asked to see her supervisor and she said she had no supervisor. I had to say well what about the owner and she said he was seeing patients. So I left her my name and my phone number so that hopefully the owner can call me at some point. But based on the customer service I've seen so far I doubt that will happen. I was finally sent in after 1 hour and in the 1st examination room I see all the eye medications lined up and opened: dilation drops, anaesthetic and something else. ALL with the caps off. I let her know that I wasn't going to allow them to use those drops on me because their safety was probably compromised. So no eye pressure exam for me. I went for a sty anyways. So I think I'm going to be seen and I'm sent to another waiting room instead! Another 15 minute wait. Then they check my vision and i continued waiting for the doctor another 10 minutes. Finally the doctor saw me he was very efficient very quick seem to be very proficient in what he was doing. Dr. Bruno and Diana we're both very professional, polite and provided excellent customer service. However the supervisor Angie and Elsie had very standoffish and unprofessional attitudes. *UPDATE*: I had to return within a week because my eye was actually getting worse. The second doctor gave me a totally different regimen of meds for my eyelid. So I guess the first doctor didn't know as much as I thought he did. It is now 2 weeks after I requested the owner to call me and I still have not heard from the owner. In addition, I requested my medical records since I do not want to return to this place and I find they wrote in the records that I refused to have a vision test, which I did not. They tested my vision. I refused to allow them to do a pressure test because I did not trust the cleanliness of their eye drops since they were left open on the counter. I was not there to check my eyesight but my eyelid, I was in pain, and they kept me waiting for 2 hours past my scheduled appointment time. WARNING: Stay away from this place. Dr. Raja and Dr. Ortiz are great, but front office staff and management is absolutely awful. I received a surgery and needed to see the doctor within 4-6 weeks after the procedure. I was told I would receive a call from the office about scheduling the follow-up. After not receiving a call 5 weeks after the procedure, I then tried to call the office to schedule the appointment myself. I tried calling the office multiple times a day, and it took 3 days until I was finally able to speak to someone on the phone. They then informed me that the next available appointment for the surgeon wasn't until another 2.5 weeks - almost 8 weeks after the procedure and well beyond the 4-6 weeks that the surgeon mentioned the necessary follow-up. Hopefully it won't matter in my case - but I wouldn't want to be in this situation for a more serious matter when I really needed to see the doctor. I would seriously not recommend going to a practice that overbooks its doctors and neglects its current patients. It's not safe or a good business practice. read more

This review has nothing to do with office experience. More importantly it has to do with unnecessary cataract surgery - during which my eyelid muscle/nerve was damaged and overstretched. Thank God I had the foresight and cancelled second surgery - which they wanted me to do two weeks after - for other eye. As a result I have ptosis (eyelid drooping because muscle not raising eyelid and pupil partially covered) I'm needing ocuplastic surgeon to repair muscle. I'm having surgery to fix their mistake. Who cares if long wait time in any office. Surgical outcome is much more important. Never received apology or any sympathy from anyone at MedEye. read more

Went to Dr.Segal for cloudiness in my left eye and ended up with a procedure that messed up my vision! Waited very long to see him but he didn't even look at me just his computer! Surgery was delayed three hours and again, I don't even know if he's the one that performed it. There were so many people waiting for him but he doesn't have time for the patient. After a horrible recovery I went back mortified at my negative vision change and was again disappointed that he recommended I just accept the results and see two others in his MED EYE ASS GROUP and just get glasses! How sad! His father did my first Laser surgery which was a success. Junior cares only for himself not for the fact that he made my vision worse! Why do you cite more people than seating capacity that does not allow you to keep the distance of 6 feet?. If it is pir, the companions must demand that the seats be for the sick. That contrasts with the Excellent Quality of Service, which I recognize as one of the best I've ever seen. read more

I waited 1.5 hours after my appointment time to be seen. When seen then the person had no idea about what my insurance pays for. Also was offered from get-go the most expensive lens and treatment (4K dollars) I almost had a heart attack. My wife had same procedure from a competitor and they offered her 4 plans and lens covering a wide gamut of price and budget. I felt like I am just a dollar sign to the practice. My person attending me had to ask insurance person for coverage. I waited another half hour and my person in the mean time went to attend another client. I feel the DNA of the practice coming from the top is that of only for money and I felt like cattle being processed and moved along. I don't recommend the practice. Shop around. read more

Everyone in receptions are not helpful and are not happy to be here. The company ask all kinds of all info when made reservation, do pre registration on line but when you show up for appointment on time you still have to wait an hour. Obviously, there is an issue with registration and intake process but they refuse to accept it. Patient time satisfaction are not their priority. Current one and a half star is too kind.
