I don't have a Kowalski's in my backyard, so whenever I see one near, I like to stop for browsing purposes. This time, I was across the way at Allerycat's awaiting my order. It's a short walk across the parking lot. I feel like there is something different about this Kowalski's location.... Seems bigger and brighter. I also love how it gives me cabin-ish vibes upon entering. My favorite section is on the right side as you walk in... the gift section and there's always so much to look at too. It can be dangerous! Thankfully I was on a time crunch this visit, and couldn't lollygag around too long. I also grabbed a few grocery items. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable when I asked where something was. When I'm in the areas again, I'll stop in for sure. read more

Kowalski's WBL has been my go to store for 3 years - especially the deli. The hot meals were wonderful. The last few months the deli consists mostly of meatballs, salmon and chicken. They used to offer more frequently beef medallions, pork chops, etc. I didn't mind paying a bit more for a better selection. Seems like the meatballs are a cheap substitute and the salmon sometimes smells old. Hoping the Kow will get back to its fabulous deli. read more

Just a wonderful company and so many choices, beautiful store. I definitely don't do my every day shopping there but it's fun to go to and they do have some really reasonable prices on the basics. Was here Friday morning to use the restrooms with some of my friends. This woman looked to be about middle aged profiled my friends and I . Kowalski's is still great for quality food items. We've discovered a few new favorites recently. Cheese/crackers/cured meat is a regular reason for us to come to Kowalski's. They have great options and a large variety. Maple sticks. Go get one right now, then get another for your future self 10 minutes from now, you'll NEED it. I am a huge donut fan, but these things are one of the best breakfast pastries I've ever had. They are bordering on candy bar with the amount of caramel and maple on top, but there's enough dough there to call it breakfast still. Sushi. We are new to the sushi game, but kept hearing that Kowalski's has pretty decent sushi. We tried some last night and it was pretty good. Tasted very fresh. There was hardly any left when we got there at 6:30 because they only make a certain amount each day. I'm looking forward to trying some new varieties next time. read more

I am grateful to have Kowalski's market in our area. When shopping during COVID 19 they had cleaning supplies at the door for carts AND gloves to wear!! BRAVO! They are taking this seriously! So appreciated! They have wonderful variety of food selections throughout the entire store, Deli included, and plentiful items for those who are gluten free; on the shelf, dairy and fresh baked goods too! They stock a goodly amount of organic products, non GMO, and the produce is fresh and excellent. I almost always can find anything at Kowalski's that I need or want. And if not, they'll get it for you. Customer service is always top notch and present to help. And it doesn't hurt to have a Starbucks there as well! WELL worth your time! Great find in white bear lake! I was in town for the week and stumbled into this place towards the end of my stay. I was only disappointed that I hadn't gone here earlier. What a gem, wish it were closer to where I live! If you have a whole foods near you, this place maybe similar but even better. They have amazing choices in fresh meat and seafood. Great coffee selections and specialty food items. They even had an area for items you may want to purchase for your kitchen, very cute selection! Also, they had a ready-to-eat section as well if you need to pick something up for lunch or dinner. There is a Starbucks in this location too if you wanted to get your fix before you leave ;-) read more

Took the family here last night as a quick stop for a dessert and was sadly disappointed once we got home! Kowalskis is my number one spot for breakfast as it is conveniently located right next to my work. They have a great bakery selection, I absolutely love their morning buns! They also haver a great selection for lunch on the go, including salads, sushi, fruit cups, and other pre packaged meals along with a big wall full of bottled beverages. If you are in the mood for coffee there is a Starbucks right inside by the checkout. I do not typically shop here for groceries, but I know they have a great selection of produce, and meat. They have just about anything you would be looking for in a grocery store. It is definitely your higher end grocery store. Prices are a bit higher than most but they have good quality food. It is fairly small but I like that because I do not get lost looking for a single item, and If you're looking to quick grab something it doesn't take fifteen minutes to get to the back of the store. However, with a smaller store they do not have everything under the sun. If you are looking for something very specific they may not have the right brand, size, or flavor you are looking for. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and often times they have free samples. By request they will even carry your bags out to your car. read more

The customer service at this Kowalskis is unbeatable. Everyone in the store was more than willing to help and incredibly friendly. The cheese section is fabulous and the "cheese lady" was incredibly knowledgable and enthusiastic. She took cheeses out of the case for me to sample before I purchased and told me the origin and history of some of the products. The meat and seafood section is also top notch - very fresh. I had a yen for some sea scallops, and figured Kowalski's for the best,...right?! They looked great, ordered a pound, took them home, refrigerated, with the intention of having them for dinner the next day. Whoa! Had all the side dishes prepared, and ready, unwrapped the scallops, and was totally overwhelmed by an ammonia cloud..... Jumped in the car, and back to the store. First employee in meat dept., "I don't smell nothing"....called the manager over, "smell ok to me"... They reeked! I decided the hell with it, took my receipt to the front, and asked for my money back..... of course they had to contact the meat dept. for confirmation, took 15 minutes...... I'M DONE! Be prepared to forget why you are there. All along the outside are gift and artisan items. I needed to buy a shower gift and found the coolest apron. I found a local cookbook, Minnesota Homegrown.There was a sea bar soap on sale in a corner with a rack of other sale items. They have beautiful kitchen items. I picked up a cheese knife. I'm getter tired of this location. Check out the pics of the rotten lettuce I bought less than 24 hrs ago. It's an obligation at these high priced grocers to eye (and taste) what they put in the shelves. Yeah in the attempt to have a light, healthy, gluten free sandwich. They don't have the same products as the Grand Ave store. However, they have a ton of open floor space dedicated to candy and random gift items for impulse buyers and "do it all at the grocery store" folks. Not bad, but if I can get more product grocery product selection into a space I kinda think that's the actual point. Here's pictures of that lettuce. You've come a long way baby! I remember this place before it had the homey, wood panneled store front and only a big cream colored building with huge red letters spelling out Kowalskis, capable of being seen from across the lake. It's got a relatively good selection of products although it feels small inside. There is no actual bakery counter, which would have been helpful in getting my dad's birthday cake this past weekend. The checkers are helpful and only charged us $1.99 for some Papyrus Happy Birthday candles when she couldn't find the price. The prices of all other items are somewhere between Safeway and Whole Foods, so not terrible. It's the closest grocery store to my grandparents and works in a pinch. read more

The store is always very tidy and organized. The only caution is high price and limited selection. This store used to be my go to grocery - for 15 years. Before I get started on the bad let me list the good. -The produce is good. -Dexa (sorry if I misspelled it) at the cheese counter is amazing. -Even though the prices are higher than over stores I was willing to pay it for service and convenience. Now the bad. -They remodeled the store and ever since, things have been sliding downhill. They made the shelves shorter to uses different lighting system. The isles are shorter to create more floor space for higher margin non-grocery items. The upshot of all this is that they are shocking considerably fewer items in the store. There are dozens of items that we purchased on a regular basis that are no longer available. -Customer service has left the building. I have spoken to several employees in the store and completed customer comment cards. The employees are unapologetic. No responses to the comment cards have been forthcoming. With the disappearance of stock and the decline in responsiveness/service, we being forced to take our business elsewhere. The only reason I will go there anymore is to shop the cheese counter. Can't wait for the new Cub Foods to open on White Bear Ave. read more

The 'cheese lady' really knows her product and can suggest brands that she thinks we would like. Everything about this store is great except for the deli workers. They are just unwilling to slice meat to order. I just had Dixie at the deli and she refused to try to get my meat sliced thinly. Told me she couldn't. I have had thin sliced meat and I know it can be done. They have a can't do attitude in the deli. Come on workers - smile and get it right!! read more
