They do have an area to sit and eat by the entry into the mall that has a microwave if you do see something you want to heat up. So many options that include your typical deli foods, great sushi, a pho and ramen bar, hibachi bar, olive bar and so much more. You really have to be picky to not find something to eat here. This is a more upscale grocery store so the prices are a little more expensive than what I'm used to but you do pay for quality and options. They do have quite the selection here. Haven't hit up a Kowalski's in forever. This location has lots of parking, a clean store and lots of indoor and outdoor seating for you to enjoy your purchases. Their donuts were so pillowy looking, they were okay but a little disappointing, noting that I went in the evening and they might have been better earlier in the day. The layout is a little confusing because the door we thought was the entry seemed more like an exit but wasn't marked as such. Didn't interact with the staff but liked that they had a good number of self checkouts even if it feels a little intrusive with a staff member standing by the exist watching the self checkout transactions. read more

I appreciate all of the variety and prepared foods they have available here. The store looks well organized and clean. I can't say much in terms of the service and staff as there wasn't much chance for interaction. There were plenty of staff standing around and putting things away but not a single greeting, glance or so much as an umph from any of the staff. I first stoped by during the Rediscover Southdale event, and boy was I impressed! This Kowalski's is awesome. It's beautifully laid out, well-stocked and well-organized, and is full of delicious things and helpful staff to connect you with said delicacies. Located in Southdale Mall, this is pure convenience for both your regular grocery shopping AND snacks on the go. They've got an amazing selection of ready-to-eat items, including a ramen bar (those exist!), a salad bar, a grill, and pizza. The store is clean, bright, and welcoming with an upscale feel. I definitely recommend visiting if you're at the mall. It's a bit out of the way for me to replace my regular grocery store, but I would probably pick it over the food court these days. I was shopping at Southdale and had heard good things about the new Kowalski's so decided to drop by and check it out. I ordinarily shop at my neighborhood Kowalski's at 54 th and Lyndale Avenue South which used to be Red Owl (are you old enough to remember Red Owl?). My neighborhood Kowalski's is small (intimate when you are trying to pass someone in a lane), dark, and sometimes stock is limited. The Kowalski's at Southdale is overwhelming. It is large, well lighted and well stocked. I felt like a refugee from a third world country. We decided to pick up lunch. In addition to Kowalski's superb soups they had a pho/ramen bar. I was dubious as I love pho at Vietnamese restaurants but this wasn't bad definitely tasted like pho. There were many other choices for prepared food to take out. We bought a few things and as is typical of Kowalski's the staff were friendly and helpful. There is parking at the entrance and they will carry your purchases to your car. I doubt I will drive all the way to Southdale for my regular shopping but I must say I was overwhelmed in a positive sense. read more

My wife and I were out and about in Edina, MN and there is a new grocery store that is very high end that opened in the Southdale Mall, the first mall in America. When you walk in you notice that there are lots of team members ready to help and they have a vast array of fresh olives, salads, deli meats, soups about everything you can think of. They even have a pizza and a burger place inside. I would have tried some pizza, but they were closed for the fourth. The have a great assortment, but everything is super expensive. Edina is considered a type of Scottsdale level type community, so I figure they think they can jack everything up 15%. Overall, I would never do everyday shopping here, especially since there is a Target across the street, but if price is of no concern, you may like it. read more

The service in the deli was horrendous. Employees eating food and walking by talking and laughing. The worst part was that we asked for help and she looked at us and then asked someone to help who was busy and she went back to making sandwiches. I asked for a manager and she said she was and that it was her job to have others help when she was busy with an attitude. I asked the nice man what her name was and they said Paris. If you can't find what you are looking for here, keep looking -- because I'm sure they have it! The offerings here are fantastic, including an amazing produce section, deli, meat counter, seafood, Starbucks, smoothies, pizza, wing bar, burgers, create your own pho and hibachi, sushi, salad and so, so much more. I'm always looking for easy and quick meal options, and I think I've found my new go-to. Kowalski's market in is has a wonderful hot bar! They have so much to choose from. You can get burgers cooked for you while you wait the same with fresh Asian food made right before your eyes. They also have hot foods in the case like creamy macaroni, fried chicken and more. also a salad bar and everything looks clean and fresh. Beautiful new facility with large lot and decor outside. Friendly staff at this new opening. It's like a pretty store with immaculate rows of produce, meats, deli, fresh meats that are beautiful in quality and fresh shishkabobs ready to grill Deli salads, salad bar, hot bar, sushi, breads and bakers items are fresh and high end. You will find higher prices. They pack and load and take groceries to your car if needed. Greenery and clothing up front. Everything Edina pricey. We bought whole frittata and delicious along with giant crescents, deli sandwich wraps all delicious. A place to eat fresh deli items. Beautiful store but your stars for prices. Milk was $1.00 more per half gallon. I would return for freshly made food. read more

Very nice store but more and more I hear comments about how expensive their food is. I'm just wondering the thoughts behind opening this when there are 3 major grocery stores within a few blocks with lower prices for the most part. I mall-walk frequently at Southdale and several times I've walked thru Kowalski's and just don't see many people in the aisles. Visually pretty store. Selection of cheese and counter service and expertise was very good. Pizza area is a disappointment. No pizzas to buy, no slices etc... not sure what they are there for? A few deep dish pizzas in freezer? Two people behind counter could not explain the concept. Meat and fish counter also a disappointment. Shrimp appeared wimpy. Not much selection of fresh fish. Steaks looked okay. Nothing special. Fresh vegetables looked good, but I was there to buy pre-prepared foods for a cocktail gathering. Wanted to buy fresh quac and it was packaged 2-3 days before. Some was already expired! I put in two complaints. Opened with great fanfare but I was underwhelmed. read more

Don't shop here as a person of color, unless you like being watched at self check out. Self checkout can be full, but it's has been my experience several times, that staff will reposition themselves to watch me pay and as soon as i do, they fall back, with no concern for whether or not "other people" pay. Sad experiences each time. read more
