Recently came to this co-op store to check out what they had here on sale ; primarily energy drinks , snack bars, and other unbelievable finds that I can't get in Illinois. The store has plenty of parking and it's right off the corner street so it's easy to access from roads and not too far from the highway either. The store boasts a wide variety of hot foods at a fair price so you can have a grab and go meal. The lines here are pretty short but I didn't find many good finds here, it was just a general store in my eyes compared to other co-ops I've been to. I do like that they sell plenty of home decor items here as well but overall I found a store as a decent place to shop at. Plenty of great locals too! read more

Freshest produce I have found in any grocery store in the general area and really good meats and fish as well. I don't shop for packaged foods here often as they are quite pricey, but I do spend more money on produce and meats when they are high quality. Nice assortment of produce and other items as well. Pleasant atmosphere and nice shopping experience. The deli is nice as well. Wish there were more locations because this one is the closest to me, but still quite far in distance. Would love more variety in the deli/prepared foods department for gluten free, dairy free, soy free eaters. But I do appreciate that you offer healthier oils in your food! No canola- thumbs up! Worst service ever. This co-op has employees that are not friendly and asking for help at the deli is like pulling teeth. When giving my order I could feel their loathing to carry out any sort of work. The meat counter has dried out meat and the fish is fishy. DO NOT GET MEAT HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO TAKE A CHANCE OF FOOD POISONING. Checkout is super slow and the manager is less than helpful. Do not recommend. Go to Kowalskis or somewhere else read more

This has been my go-to place for quality produce and specialized items, but I'm seeing a decline at this store. I have never liked the meat dept- I saw an employee carrying fresh meat in his dirty apron from the case. Also, the last time I bought some items from the refrigerated deli section, we found a nasty worm in one of the salads. Gross. Manager didn't seem to care when it was brought to his attention. Will NOT be buying food from this store deli. This location needs to be more diligent in their cleanliness. read more

This store has a lot of not very helpful racist employees. Sadly two of them are supposedly managers who stood next to me gossiping while I was asking these young man for a certain kind of bread that they didn't have on their shelves and he told me to go ask in the deli. It's funny...I love the Richfield and Chanhassen locations to the moon and back, but perhaps because of the size and selection in these locations, the Minnetonka location pales in comparison. Employees are friendly in all of the departments, the store is well-kept, but it's just the durn lack of selection that makes the location get the average rating. I went to get chicken necks for my dog (they sell these at the Richfield location), and they didn't sell them. When I asked if they made those available, I was told as long as I called at least 2 days ahead of time, they could. I mentioned they sold them at Richfield and they said that they sell items that would work for each location. Let's be honest...they haven't tried at that location. Not a big deal, it just comes at an inconvenience to me. I also went in for ground pork...and guess what? None. Wha? Very surprised on that one. That's a staple. I was also looking for a whole chicken but at least on that particular day, there were none. Darnit! My trip was a bust. I at least had a great conversation with one of the employees in the health & wellness section about skin treatments for rashes and we swapped tips & tricks. Anyway, I'm not going to go out of my way to shop at this location, but I do hope that they can expand their offerings creatively in their smaller store. read more

I love Lakewinds! This is the perfect place to get healthy food options. I think I even like it better than whole foods, and it helps that this place is super close to me! The selection is great for certain thinks I can't find at Target or Cub - special oats, flours, etc. - and sometimes I even just buy all my groceries here since it's worth it. Everything is super fresh, organic choices and just everything I'm looking for. Staff is super friendly as well! The one thing that I can't live without here is their salad bar. I absolutely love all of the choices they have! They have delicious quinoa dishes too that you can add, and I love that they have edamame! Their foods like pasta salads, quinoa salads, etc. that are sitting across from the salad bar are delicious too! They have tons of great juice options as well, and I love their kambucha choices and maple waters. Not sure what I would do without you Lakewinds... thank you for being there for me! 5 stars for sure! read more

This place may not be exactly convenient to where many people live but there are some major pluses to this place, especially after my recent experiences at Costco "parking lot o death" and Cub "maze yo ass around the store": 1. The deli guy offers you samples of things you are barely eyeing up. like its 1983 baskin robbins, more than one sample offered and without having to ask- i sampled some sesame kale. tasty. 2. parking lot is ample and you wont get killed walking to and from your car. 3. good variety of organic, vegan, veggie products 4. not crowded. at all. 5. not too big and well organized. 6. decent salad bar 7. grocery check out boys with acne- just like it should be read more

I deliver various free periodicals for a living, and one of my routes is a monthly one, with Lakewinds being one of the stops. Today I was there for the 9th or 10th time, and I was feeling quite peckish. A few months ago I got a couple pieces of rosemary (and garlic?) chicken from their hot bar, and while $8/lb stings a bit, I admit it was damned good chicken. That is not why I am writing a review today. No, today I tried something else that looked irresistible, and I am not at all surprised to find a few other people here raving about Lakewinds' pizza. I was heading for the hot bar again, but on the way I passed by these four pizzas (each a different kind) and I was like "Oh. My. God. Becky, look at that butt... uhh, I mean, pizza." It was like I instantly intuitively knew that this pizza would rock my world, but I moved along and checked out the hot bar anyway, all the while knowing that I was going to buy a slice of that pizza. Well, I did. It was a big slice (1/6 of a 16" or 18"er). It had sausage, gr. pepper, mushroom and onion, an assload of INCREDIBLY flavorful cheese (at first bite I thought it might have been Swiss!), and a very wisely slight amount of tomato sauce, and I do mean TOMATO sauce, not some ridiculous "pizza sauce" that has drowned so many pies. The crust was all anyone can ask for: not too thick, crisp on the outside, chewy but not raw on the inside, and very yeasty tasting. Not exaggerating here: I do not remember the last time I bought a slice this good. I got a slice from Andrea in downtown Mpls. a few months ago. It was pretty good. I got a slice from some place in some suburb maybe a couple years ago. It was all right. And I've taken stupid chances buying slices that I knew would suck (and they did) several times in the past few years. Not to belabor the point, but it's entirely possible that I've NEVER bought a slice of pizza this good. The best part? It cost $3.50. At a freaking *CO-OP*. All organic, free-range, non-antibiotic, non-BGH and whatever-else-fill-in-the-blank ingredients, and they charged me probably less than I think Sbarro would, and they gave me a better product too. Bottom line: omfg just go try a slice of Lakewinds pizza and then you won't NEED my stupid review. Disclaimer: Do bear in mind that my 5 star rating is based only on that slice of pizza, and the delicious chicken I ate a few months ago. I have bought nothing else whatsoever there. read more

Cherry pick Lakewinds. Co-op they are not! Their prices are a joke on the majority of their products. Quality, is great; they've been jamming the prices up with their choice $$$ location. This is difficult to post, but I believe it is time. I am an owner at Lakewinds. We are told they listen to our comments and requests. Over the years, mine have been continuously ignored! Sure, I'm only 1 person. Only 1 customer. Are you aware they support FOOD/GUM that is MADE IN CHINA? I requested they sell an aspartame free brand made in Canada instead of China. There is one that less expensive and equally as good, if not better! Whole Foods AND Non health food stores even carry it! The fact is Lakewinds doesn't let its customers at minimum decide and promotes products going into people's body made in CHINA! That should be concerning and a red flag! read more

Lakewinds just keep earning bonus points, especially every time I take advantage of another of their full line of food services. Aside from their produce section which is filled with properly labeled and wonderful looking produce (they really do a good job of marking which produce is organic and which isn't) you have their dairy cases, meat counter, stocked frozen foods, full line of breads/cookies/etc, pizza from their wood oven, and today I hit their cheese area. It was such a wonderful find, a small reasonable priced chunk of a really good cheese that I grabbed today. A great piece of cheese became the centerpoint of a really good meal tonight. In the past I have found grass fed beef short ribs here for just a little over $5/lb. Yes you read that right. Awesome beef for next to nothing. Short ribs at Cub run at least $6/lb and are not grass fed beef. The store is always clean and well maintained and the parking lot is never a headache like the Wedge or Seward. I would be surprised if I get anywhere near the Wedge or Seward again. The parking alone is a clusterf*ck at Wedge/Seward, let alone all the posers that love to wander around but never look where they are going. LW has a far lower quotient of people that make shopping difficult the way they do at Wedge/Seward. They also have plenty of Great Harvest baked goods, even though there is a GH across the street! The GH cinnamon roll is a reason to visit on its own. The staff here are always courteous and friendly. Not in your face or so off in their own little world like at some other coops. read more

Lakewinds has been my go to grocery store for over a decade. I love the atmosphere, the products, the space. Everything about this grocery store is great. They have fresh and seasonal produce, and tons of different healthy and local products. Aside from this, they also promote and offer various eco friendly products. They really knock one out of the ball park when it comes to supplying healthy, local, seasonal, and fresh foods! Save your time and a few bucks and take a jaunt over to the Minnetonka Whole Foods instead. The employees at Lakewinds usually are not friendly, fast or very helpful. Usually their response seems to be one of annoyance, rather than a desire to answer questions or even find specific products that I'd like to purchase! I've waited at least three minutes standing at the deli counter, without acknowledgement from SIX employees behind the counter. While the employees seems to enjoy each other's company, it doesn't seems like they have common sense to make a company successful. Another instance occurred a couple of days ago, when two of them were discussing something at the checkout and let me wait until they were done gabbing before they acknowledged my presence and let me purchase my items! Yes, the produce, etc is great here. But it's usually much more expensive than Whole Foods. The employees at Whole Foods are MUCH better trained in customer service, on their product-lines and on matters of nutrition and health in general. Lakewinds is a couple miles from my office, and it has become part of my post-work ritual. First off, there are little cups of complimentary fair-trade coffee for customers, complete with REAL half+half and all the natural sweetener choices you could ask for! Need I say more? Maybe not, but I'm going to anyway. The produce is ALWAYS fresh, and you can find just about anything you're looking for. They really try to bring as much local fare to their shelves as possible, and prices are definitely more reasonable than my beloved neighborhood co-op. The staff is friendly and always ready to help you find what you're looking for or tell you all about where the food was sourced and how it was grown. Now THIS is a grocery store after my own heart! I think the place where Lakewinds really shines is at the meat + fish counter. Sure, there's an amazing bulk section (bulk maple syrup! Seriously. It's amazing.), fresh-sliced deli meats, delectable salads, and incredible house-made breads, but the meat and fish section will blow your mind. It's no secret that I'm kind of a food freak; not in the "foodie" way, but in the sourcing way. I ask a lot of questions, and it annoys even me. At Lakewinds, when I ask how the salmon or chicken or beef is farmed, they tell me every detail about it as if they enjoy the conversation as much as I do. When I go to another non-coop grocery store in my area, despite its reputation as a higher-end expert, they really can't tell me anything about how that animal was raised. At Lakewinds, you'll get all the answers you want about what you're putting into your body, and you WON'T pay a fortune for it, contrary to popular belief. There's also a really good wellness section, with everything from supplements and probiotics to cosmetics and latex-free band-aids! I look forward to grocery shopping when I know I'm going to Lakewinds, and if you're ever in the western 'burbs I highly recommend stopping in. I shop at Lakewinds Minnetonka every other day. It's my go to place for organic good food. They have a hot bar that has a great Sunday selection. Today however Zach S. MOD went above and beyond. He and Dave the manager always do. There was a possible gas leak this afternoon and the store was evacuated around 3:30pm. That meant everyone had to leave their cart of groceries in the store and wait outside for Centerpoint to make sure the store was safe to re-enter. I had to leave but Zach kept an eye out for my cart of groceries and held them until I was able to return later this evening and buy them. That made my day zo much better. Turns out there wasn't a gas leak. However the staff was great and Zach always makes my trips to Lakewinds more enjoyable! Thanks Zach and Dave for great service!! read more

Between three and four stars, took off one for high prices. To see a true health food store in Minnesota is a good thing, because they are rare in a state that idolizes its meat, dairy and processed foods. When you live in areas of the country where fresh produce stands and markets are everywhere you get spoiled. The food here is high priced, but they have no competion to keeps it down. In the summer and fall go to the local Farmer's Markets for fresher produce and much cheaper prices. read more

While I am still a Lunds-kinda girl when it comes to the majority of my groceries, I do thoroughly enjoy me some Lakewinds as well. It is also my go-to western suburb deli-counter/food to-go spot. The pizzas are AMAZING. I love that you can get it ready-to-eat and by the slice. There is also a pretty epic soup/salad bar. Excellent variety of Organic Foods. The fresh fish often looks as good but slightly cheaper than whole foods in a Uptown. The cold deli items are fantastic, though the hot-bar is so so. I've been coming here since I was a kid and I've always loved their pizza and desserts!:) great place to grab a lunch on the go before work and pick up some last minute food items! While small, it has almost everything and a good sized fruit and veggie section. They offer a large selection of alternative heath items like essential oils, herbal supplements, hair products, soaps and makeups. Fresh bread and soup is also available! Lakewinds is everything! They far surpass a whole foods. They have the best hot and cold bar at extremely reasonable prices for organic and natural selections. Their soups and breads are to die for! When I go back home, I'm always asked to bring their loafs of bread back. They also have an organic smoothie bar, with options of wheat grass shots. They also have a wood fire pizza sections, where you can get hot slices or whole pizza. The staff is friendly at all the Lakewinds! I feel I can simply never leave MN because their will never be a place as great as Lakewinds! I usually go to lakewinds for specialty items, and tonight I did just that. I even did my research before coming here, had the item I needed put in hold. However I was never where the item would be. I had no idea where brewers yeast would have been placed on hold for me so I asked a cadhier, he was all sorts of confused and thought I had an order to pick up. He had me go to the front desk where she also had no idea what I was talking about. She did call to the wellness desk and it was back there. She told the lady that she was sending me back there. Once I got back there I was ignored for over 5 minutes. I understand helping another customer but she knew another customer (me) was on there way for her help. She could have greeted me or said something. Then she offered to call another store for the other customer before still greeting or even saying a word to me. I had time to walk up and down every aisle of the wellness department twice before finding brewers yeast my self and going back to the cashier. When the cashier still thought I had a special order item and had another person find some box that wasn't mine. Having worked customer service in retail for 7 years as a manager. I get it was the end of the night and everyone wanted to go home, but if you truly want to leave you help your customers instead of talking to eachother. I was very disappointed in my lakewinds experience tonight. read more

I used to love this store and have been going there for about a year. But the Chanhassen Lakewinds is so much better with nicer people that do not cater to the wealthy customers only. Then I joined the Wedge and because I'm disabled I was able to get a lifetime membership for only $10 and I get 10% off on everything. Lakewinds Minnetonka does not care about the disabled or people on Social Security who really need to save money on their groceries! They charge $90 to become a member, which is ridiculous. Sometimes I go to the Chanhassen Lakewinds and the last time I went, they had me in the computer as a member of The Wedge and gave me 10% off my groceries, and I double checked if this was correct and it WAS! But today I went to Lakewinds MInnetonka, and they would NOT honor my membership and refused to give me my discount. The %$&@& at the register told me that Lakewinds is different than The Wedge, which is completely untrue..as I received my discount at the Chanhassen Lakewinds. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THE MINNETONKA STORE! read more

I've been a member for over 13 years and other than a handful of times I've found the customer service at this Lakewinds to be lacking. They just aren't very responsive to customers other than the Health and Beauty and Meat dept. staff. I recognize almost everyone who's worked there for more than a few months and I've yet to have anyone there seem to recognize or even remotely appear interested in greeting me or other regular customers. Tonight specifically the cashier had rung up half my groceries before acknowledging me. I actually thought she mistakenly was ringing up my purchases as part of the purchase of the customer before me. Only when I looked up did I realize she'd started to check my items out. No greeting, didn't ask for my member number, just doing her job without regard for the people she's checking out. I've tried to go to the Lakewinds website to comment before and now tonight but there isn't a link for that on their site. It's just such a downer to shop there sometimes. Think I'll head to Trader Joe's for a dose of friendly. read more
