I have a tiny secret. I've never actually set foot inside this branch of Kowloon House. I've never gone inside the restaurant for a meal. What I *have* done however was sit outside in their take-out/outdoor dining area and snacked on a siopao.
On several occasions.
And not just their siopao either.
Their noodles are pretty choice but probably not what you want to eat in the heat of summer while dining outside. Anyway, back to the siopao.
The good thing about their siopao is that there's more than enough filling. Their chicken asado is pretty good but as I said, it's chicken... so don't try looking for any chinks of fat mingled in with the meat and sauce. It isn't dry either! There's just enough sauce to go with the meat that it doesn't seem dry or too much sauce that it turns into a chinese Sloppy Joe. As far as siopao goes though, these are a little on the pricier side. At 65php, it's a pretty good meal.
Kowloon House is probably the only actual Chinese restaurant around the area (apart from Caution Hot!) now that I think about it. And it's no wonder why they've lasted this long. read more
