They do not answer their phone ever or return calls! My husband cancelled a trial period with them in 2019 and the heavy set dude(he doesn't remember his name) told him he was all set. Now here we are 4+ years later fighting with the credit bureau because they put something on his credit report saying he never paid or cancelled. Unreal! Absolutely ridiculous lack of communication and customer service!!!!! We are going to continue this until the charges are removed and will continue to inform others of what a joke you are to customers! read more

We can not rave enough about KQ Ranch. Literally it is the highlight of our month (ahem, yes we try to go as often as can). The good news is for us we are members and can do things like that, the bad news for the general public, unless you are a member or on a member's membership, I am sorry you will not be able to just pop onto the property and enjoy all of the amazing amenities, not to mention the FOOD. This is Yelp, so naturally we come here to rave about the food, the amazing bites and treats that one has tasted. Don't even get me started, before our trip we like to download the PDF of what the kitchen has cooking for us that week. We plan accordingly and ensure we have an empty belly to indulge in thee best cooking Julian has to offer. The cook's (not sure of everyone's names but Theresa is always pleasant) are always so prompt in putting out delicious hot plates. The greatest home cooked meal that $7 for breakfast OR $10 for dinner will get cha. We love the property, it is so lush with wildlife, landscape, mountains, crisp air, scenic look out points and so much fun to be had. Upon checking in, the front gate (Kehlani is just the best) We love to start our mornings with the clubhouse famous breakfast's oooooh, they are SO good, and I mean I won't shut up about it for at least 2-3 days after. Just imagining the biscuits and gravy or the pancakes as we speak, then to walk off our food, we go for a nice little stroll around the property, we even like to go up to the top and look out (you'll feel on top of the world). After, change into your bathing suit and hit the pool (assuming its weather appropriate), we love to sun bathe and end up in the jacuzzi. After, we grab a snack at the clubhouse (chips, candy, drink, ice cream, etc..) Lizzie in the clubhouse is always so helpful! Do not forget to check out your DVD's for your cabin. We like to lounge and watch movies, its time to relax when at KQ. After, we go down to the Toy Barn and play mini-golf, basketball, disc-golf and/or all three HA. So much fun! All the supplies/equipment can be rented at the clubhouse. We may then head back to the pool and get ready for Dinner and the fun concert to be had that evening at the baseball field. We never forget to finish off our night with another lovely night hike/stroll and star seeing. My husband and I became members last year and this was our first trip to K.Q. Ranch. We stayed a week and it was wonderful, start to finish. Weather was perfect, staff was super friendly, We have a 5th wheel so didn't use the cabins but did do some laundry mid week - laundry room was clean and well maintained. Do not even go for a presentation there they get you in they try to sell you this expensive membership, which is not the best option and then they give you 20 free nights if you don't buy it but then they make it extremely hard for you to book anything they won't call you back they plug your number in so they know it's you calling and never call back !your locations are not even that nice! read more

Not going to lie... I had low expectations and quite frankly... a little scared from the reviews. So much so that we almost didn't go. Luckily, we decided to try it out and just got home from an amazing weekend. The kids enjoyed bike rides, hiking, fishing, and the nightly concerts by the baseball field. All around a great place for family. We chose a partial hook up site in order to be closer to everything (small kids). The staff was always available to answer any questions and were very friendly. Other campers were nice and welcoming. Campground, while a little dated, was kept very clean. I like how close it is to downtown Julian - quick trip for some apple pie. read more

Four Years Later: 1) The Pool and Spa are again closed because, well, they won't exactly say. (This is 5 Winters in a row that the "Indoor" Pool and Spa have been closed for the Holidays) It's clearly not a priority of management, CRA etc. to provide to members the amenities they sell. K.Q. Campground is a great campground! Hubby and I recently became members and took our first camping trip with family, including six adults and six children, ranging from ages three months to age eleven. We stayed in a cabin and RV site. Our family has been camping for many years and have stayed at various campgrounds, so in regards to some comments describing the campground as in need of some minor repairs and maintenance; camping is an experience where you expect the environment to be rustic and where you're sure to be amongst critters. IMO, all campgrounds are rustic and most could use some paint and repairs throughout, but I think that's to be expected. However what sets apart the good and bad campgrounds is the staff. So when we arrived to check-in, the sales rep that booked our reservation for us, really dropped the ball! We were assured our reservation was complete but unfortunately, Steve, the sales rep who sold us our membership failed to complete our reservation as we requested. Steve and/or both, the sales team gets zero stars. He appeared disheveled and unprofessional in his presentation, nevertheless the campground itself is what sold us on the membership. We were looking to join a campground that is family friendly and that provides fun activities for children, which is how I would describe K.Q. We found the Campground staff to be welcoming, and it's well maintained and family oriented. The pathways are well paved and in good condition for walking, bike riding etc. I didn't notice any pavement in dire need of repair. Also, the restrooms and showers appeared clean and well maintained. The smaller cabins are charming rustic and it was comfortable and accommodating for adults and children. Overall what made our yearly family camping trip fun and enjoyable were the employees. From the time we pulled in and were told we didn't have a reservation, until our departure, every single staff member we interacted with was super helpful, and because of the error in our reservation, they didn't hesitate to help us to resolve it. They were so very helpful, they graciously helped us and provided us with an RV site. I'm giving five stars for the check-in employees who helped us with that, but we also found that all of the employees were really nice and helpful. So yes, campgrounds are a rustic part of nature, but the people who work there can make all the difference in the world in making for a good or bad experience. Overall, the experience and atmosphere we had here at K.Q. is in great part due to its employees and staff! read more

Our friends invited us as guests with a total of 3 RV's. We stayed a week & were told we could all be together. Two of us have large rigs & made resv for a pull thru. Only had one pull thru available. Which was entirely on the other side of the park. So we all accepted back in spots. But they weren't all in a row. Our site & ours friends site was full of trash & dog poop. We picked up a bag full at each site. There were bushes growing so close to the electrical & water box my husband used a chair to push the bush to plug in. The picnic table was old, warped, full of splinters & spiders it was unusable! There wasn't a fenced dog park that we could find. We wanted to use the pool but my husband said absolutely NOT. The water was very cloudy & he figured the chemicals weren't right. The roads in the park were full of pot holes. The only good thing at K Q is the employees were very nice! Will not buy or accept an invite back there. read more

Ok, so here is the FACTUAL experience that we had this past weekend 4/16/21 - 4/18/21 at KQ Ranch.I read a ton of highly mixed reviews regarding people's stay here over the past years and it's crazy what people are saying. Yes, there is some truth to the negative reviews (mostly regarding the sales pitch) but nothing I found is truthful regarding the property. Let's start with the greeting at the gate. I have read all these reviews regarding the rude staff? We were greeted by a gentleman who was nice and hooked us up with the last pull thru spot. We were towing a 40' trailer and he accommodated us so we wouldn't struggle trying to navigate the park. The sign in was quick and painless, gave us a map and had a guy meet us at the gate to show us how to get to our spot. When we met the guy at the gate, we followed him down to the spot and he was nice enough to stand by to watch me back up into our spot, (my decision to back in, rather than drive around to pull in) The spot was 45 right across from the bathroom, which at the bottom of the park there are no sewer hook ups, but they do have 30amp and water. The bathrooms were clean, had showers and a place to wash dishes on the back side. Now let's get to the resort ... Overall impressed with what I noticed around the park. The pool was closed, but noticed it was clean at least. I read some reviews about the mini-golf. I head they had a lot of snow and YES it does need some work, but was told they are going to fix it up.... please don't compare it to the family fun center down the street in your neighborhood, it's just an activity to keep you busy. They had live music in the park both nights and that was awesome . All the folks staying there were pleasant and always greeting us as we walked or rode our bikes around. Super quiet at night, which is fantastic with some of the not so desirable locations we have stayed or toured. There are no wood fires allowed so bring your propane fire pit. They are huge sticklers on this so don't do it! They have a club house type building which serves Breakfast, lunch and Dinner. Although we didn't partake in the food, heard good things about it. They have a honey truck that will come around after 2pm and pump out your sewer if needed as well. We just used the facilities on the way out, no big deal. We did drive around the resort and up on the hill, this is where all of the full hook ups are is very nice with some sweet views of the mountains. It's definitely a little tighter up there, but some people will probably enjoy the privacy as it's a good little walk down the hill and away from most of the activities. They had cabins and trailers for rent which was cool for those who just want to show up for the weekend. Overall we had nothing at all to complain about as it was a, "free" trip as we were invited as part of the sales pitch offer. Remember people, it's camping... it's not a 5 star Hawaiian resort. If you're expecting that then go to Hawaii instead. For those who just want to get away and go and, "camp" then you will enjoy it as we did. We had guests come up for the day with their kids and we all had a blast. Now the fun part.... the all dreaded sales pitch. Upon entry we were given the date of sales pitch , which was on our checkout day at 11am so that was cool that it didn't interfere with our stay. Warning.... if you try and dip out and not go to the pitch then they will charge you $50 a night and you won't get the 20 free days afterwards. Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly sales staff and were offered snacks and beverages, which our 6yr old gladly accepted. Our sales lady whose name was Cynthia, opened up the pitch with a Android tablet and $200 gas "rebate" certificate. Now I have heard people complain about the gifts, if you're going there for these gifts and expect an IPad and a legit $200 gas card to be used as you walk out then you will be disappointed and pissed off. If you're going to the sales pitch strictly to get gifts, then you're an idiot and I say that in the nicest way I can. The tablet is something you would by your child and the $200 gas card is a rebate which takes a while to get compensated for... again don't care cause I didn't go there for the gifts. Now that 1.5 hr sales pitch! Ours was probably longer than most , as we did have a lot of questions and there was some side conversations that had nothing to do with the membership. You watched a short movie and Cynthia went though aaaaalot of material, which now I know why it was expensive. Yes, it's around $13,000.... yes you read that right! We happily declined, got our 20day free stay and happily parted ways, no harm, no foul... apologize for the long winded review, but wanted you all to know out "true" experience! My bad for not reading all the shit reviews of this place before driving for over 2 hours with my family to be rudely declined at the gate for showing up late to some dumb fucking sales pitch that I was unaware of. Manager was a bitch, I called their number on Yelp, was hung up on. Waste of time and no I do not wish to re-schedule. Colorado Piss Springs kindly invited me and my family up to spend the day at their crap ranch over-the-phone the week prior, stated there would be gifts and a fun day of experiences, all because I am new trailer owner. No seminar to attend, just come spend the day at our camp to check it out. Fucking Bullshit! WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE EVER! DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU! THESE PEOPLE DO NOT DESERVE YOUR BUSINESS! I received better customer service boondocking in Anza-Borrego. Came for Memorial Day weekend. Was free with a 1 hour tour. Josh was our sales representative and did such a great job. Was polite, answers all of our questions, showed us all their campsites ect. While we declined, he did not keep pushing us or try to convince us to buy. Reason we declined was we wouldn't use it enough with 3 kids being involved in sports and school activities year round. I don't even think I should go into detail about how horrible our experience was at KQ Ranch but I feel like I should so people understand what they condone here (derogatory slurs and showcasing murder victims to sell their membership). I'll start with the inconveniences and logistical roller coasters we encountered. First of all the phone line is not directly connected to the on site employees, so expect some miscommunication and lack of responsibility. We were told we could stay for two weeks while on the phone. This was because they gave us a couple days for free and if we went to their presentation/pitch then we would get additional free camping days via a certificate. This was not the case, it turned out that it could not be used consecutively. The kicker was that when we called to 'cash in' the camping days from our vouchers it was booked with no issues. Then, on the first checkout day we were called letting us know we missed check out. We figured we needed to recheck in for the next few days and hadn't realized, but no... our additional days were cancelled with zero communication because consecutive stays were against their policy. Despite it being their mistake and their absolutely misleading communication throughout we were kicked out that day and had to find a campground with almost no notice. Now as frustrating as that was, it does not merit the one star. The reason for this rating was Allison's behavior during the 90 minute sales pitch on the worst deal I have ever seen. For reference, the deal is almost 10k to be members with minimal perks beside their private campgrounds and access to timeshares.. but don't worrry "this is not a timeshare." Could be an okay deal for full timers if it weren't for the fact that you cannot stay consecutively in the region for over 14 days, meaning you either have to leave for a while and come back or pay them more money. If you look at their map, most of the campgrounds in their network are actually public and only discounted for you, which is funny because the woman presenting to us quite literally winced every time she used the word "public." She was quite out of touch as to what public campgrounds are like, even saying boondocking was illegal. We are full timers and we frequently boondock and often stay at public campgrounds. Of course there are some bad experiences, but nothing compared to sitting there listening to her degrade people that are down on their luck or forced to live in their campers. She throughly discussed how disgusting public campgrounds are because of "those people." She then used the word ret@rded to describe them! Yes that is the word she chose. Used with zero shame. When we confronted her on her word choice and asked her not to use that word. She was immediately defensive, because she "had been a first responder." She then asked if she could instead use the word moron... because to her those words are synonymous?? She then proceeded to tell us how people get murdered in public campgrounds all the time, she chose to emphasize this with actual screenshots of news articles featuring photos of the murdered people neatly placed in a protective sleeve in her binder. Yes, after using a derogatory slur she played show and tell with photos of people who tragically lost their lives to sell her pitch. I can't even. I will stick to being a low class public camper, thanks. Edit: if Allison is still allowed to recruit members.. they absolutely do condone her behavior. read more

Julian is known for two items Mines (lots of mining in early 20th century) and Apples. You can get every conceivable combination of Apple pie you can think of. We got some food to go last night from the Julian Beer Company, without a doubt the best ribs ever. Today we are going to explore some mines and go shopping. read more

We got a free "invite" When you listen to the sales pitch however their customer service and the quality of the place helped us make our decision easily. We were told on the phone we could be next to our friend but at the gate we were told different, so we complained and the gate staff was very rude. Apparently for complaining we got the dreaded hill location with insane winds and spots full of weeds that haven't been maintained.... Possibly ever. Once at our spots we had about 5psi water pressure, which is normal and I was to use my holding tank and water pump. Apparently they don't want to fix their problems but have work arounds for you to do. This place was probably cool about 15 years ago before they stopped caring. All the roads are mostly potholes and probably haven't been maintained also not street signs or markings for directions. A lot of the cool features were trash also the mini golf course had several holes that you couldn't use the rc track wasn't in good shape either. RV Campsite time share. This site was good. The pond was filled up a little from the first rains. We stayed on the ridge close to the entrance. Was a nice spot but will be staying on the other ridge in the future when I am trying to get astrophotography images since it facing Anza. Remember people.. this is an RV park. Not a Hilton Hotel. It is what you make it. Lots of things to do. Tennis court, basketball court, horse shoes, heating pool that is covered in the winter to 80 degrees and Spa. We are members and like that this is just an hour drive for us. If you take the sales pitch route just remember that they are trying to sell memberships. So deal with it and make your choice. Will be posting more reviews as we go to the other sites. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful. PS... Deer, mountain lion and coyotes in the area so don't leave you animals in attended. read more

We have had a membership with CRA for about 10 years. The Julian site is all encompassing and covers just about everything that involves a family weekend. Outside activities, quiet time and every type of camping that you might need to enjoy the great outdoors. I won't speak of the high pressure sales team as it's just part of the up-sale game. Everyone gets the same thing at a car repair shop. The staff is friendly, the places are clean and any failure of upgrades should be blamed on the company and not the location staff. read more

Keeping in mind Covid, they were still able to offer mini golf, disc frisbee, delicious breakfast (to take back to our site), limited pool, and stuff for kids. My wife was offered a free trip in July, so we just took the family down there and camped over the last weekend at KQ ranch. Overall, the area is well taken care of. We were pleased with how clean the bathrooms were, and the staff were friendly during each encounter. My propane stove went out on me, so having the restaurant available was a plus. The food is decently priced, is of good quality, and definitely beats having to drive six miles back into Julian to eat. The free coffee was a lifesaver. For the presentation, which we attended on the last day a few hours before we departed, was well prepared. We were greeted by office managers Michelle and Evelyn, and the presentation of the membership was given by Steve. They were all quite professional. Steve outlined how the plans worked and was transparent about pricing. I was impressed with the pricing options geared towards active members of the military. Due to my career in the Army and having a child to raise, my wife and I felt that this is just not the time to invest into something that would be rarely used. We left with a good impression, and if their offer stands five years down the road, I would be inclined to accept it. read more

Same old shows! Only worse! The One Man band was seemingly on drugs. His music was fast, making guitar mistakes, forgetting lyrics, repeating songs and way off pitch all the time. Into The Blue Sky, most depressing music I've ever heard, these ladies must have wrote these lyrics while crying in their beer. Not blues music, just awful! I'd like to hear the Violin's alone. Get some better shows K.Q. Ranch. It's not fun here anymore! Always trash in the campsites when I come every other week. And moldy smelling leaves every where from the snow. Often the pipes are broken and water shut off. Or the hot summer wheather has the electricity off for days at a time. If you visit her just one time you will see what I'm saying. With the free nights in exchange for about an hour of our time to hear the membership option, we decided to give K.Q. Ranch a try. We enjoyed our stay. The staff was always nice and very helpful. K.Q. was set up with a family atmosphere in mind. There was plenty to do when we weren't in the town visiting what Julian had to offer. It is a membership only facility and the sales pitch was polite and informative, thanks to Josh. We were presented with a variety of options for the one-time membership buy in, and then an annual maintenance fee. While it didn't prove to be something we would use, it was well worth taking the time to consider. We never felt pressured, and Josh and other staff members remained friendly, kind, and helpful when we decided to decline the offer. read more

My experiences with KQ Ranch Resorts: In my opinion they are misleading with their intentions. For instance a required "tour" was not abundantly clear in the pre-arrival communications. I booked a spot for a few days expecting to simply pay to camp (my misunderstanding) only to find myself either agreeing to a "tour" or turning the truck around after 4 hours on the road with my 5 yr old daughter in the truck. Wife shows up to camp the following day (Saturday) and we attend the required tour on Sunday. I was open and honest with the sales rep Dave. I explained that I don't feel like there was clear communication about the sales pitch. I stated that I had simply wanted to camp near Julian and this site showed up in the search results so I emailed to book a site, and that there wasn't discussion of a membership pitch. When asked if we were interested I again being honest said we weren't at all, and only wanted to camp for the weekend in Julian. Dave was friendly, but did try to tell me that I HAD to take the tablet and fuel vouchers, which I declined. At that point we politely left the sales pitch. Five minutes later I received a call from the sales office asking what had happened. Again, I explained exactly what I had explained to Dave. At that point I was told we refused the "tour", and that we needed to leave immediately. I would NOT recommend KQ Ranch Resorts. There is a lack of transparency which probably results in a lot of folks buying into a membership they weren't really looking for. Just my opinion and experience. Do your own research. read more
