Farmers Insurance - Slav Boston

Does not send me any statements or bills from the CA Fair Plan they arranged for me. No help at all.read more

tl;dr: they needed unexpected docs w/ a tight deadline, non-renewed me, then ghosted me when I…read moretried to renew and strung me along for 6 weeks so now I have no coverage and have to Uber or drive w/o insurance. Super confused by this office's handling of new-to-them clients like me; I've had Farmer's insurance for years (40! Auto and Home!) and my agent retired. Apparently his accounts (including mine, which started as my parents when I started driving and I have never changed) were sold to Slav Boston and co; I was unaware of all of this and car insurance wasn't on my radar while I was traveling over the summer since I was paid up til October. But, apparently while I was enjoying my holidays I was and missing pieces of (apparently critical) snail mail that my neighbor was bringing in for me and piling on my credenza. I was supposed to send in a series of photos: 4 of each car (front/side, rear/side, odometer and VIN plate) 1 of each car's title, 1 of each car's current registration, and our driver licenses. I had a month to do so. That month had passed by the time I got back from my travels and opened that letter, plus the pink letter of non-renewal. So I figure, no sweat I will send that all in ... I have two months before my insurance is expired, plenty of time. Oh, so so wrong. Meanwhile I got my homeowners renewal, and it was so much higher than last year I thought maybe it was time to shop around. I know premiums are going up in California, it's all over the news and I didn't blame the agency, but I figured since I was basically starting over with the auto policies and my loyalty discount wasn't a thing, I may as well shop around for the homeowners. I found a different insurer and got a pretty immediate quote, which was a slamming great policy with better coverage, for about the same price as the Farmer's renewal. I contacted Nancy, who is apparently shuttling the transferred accounts through the system, and asked her to give me an idea of what a straight-up autos-only policy would shake out to so I could comparison shop and also decide if bundling/keeping the homeowners with Farmers would make the most sense. She told me I was getting a discount for bundling. I asked how much. She said, 'you're already getting it." No straight answers, no breaking down of options. Just very obtuse deflections. I had sent all the pictures and filled out all the forms for the cars and thought maybe I was getting a policy underwritten but I couldn't be sure and the deadline was approaching. I wasn't getting any responses to my emails after sending everything in and it was so difficult navigating that I ended up messaging a Farmer's agent in my neighborhood who straightened the whole thing out for me in about 10 minutes. Unfortunately since five weeks had passed as I was trying to shake an answer or some numbers out of Slav Boston's agency and hoping they'd send me a renewal (you think this review is long, you wouldn't believe what I have left out of it) I was now just a little over 2 weeks from expiring and my new agent told me, even though he's also a Farmer's agent, that it would take 19 days to get underwritten and done after asking Slav Boston's people to unblock my account for him to proceed, leaving me two days short ... a nice little gap between my coverage expiring and my new policy going into effect. So, we will Uber to work those days. All of this a miserable insurance odyssey .. for a couple of middle aged people who don't drive a lot (I work from home and he has a 3 mile round trip to work), have no tickets or accidents on our records and have always paid our bills on time. If this is how they handle customers in the 'sales' mode, I hate to think what would happen if I ever had a claim. I felt a weird sort of connection to that long-term relationship since it's one of the few links I still have to my parents (the agent who pre-dated the one who retired was an old family friend) but ... it's just an insurance agency. And I'm just a number. Cannot recommend.

I had a positive experience at the Progressive Auto Insurance location in downtown Concord,…read moreCalifornia. Although it is not a traditional brick-and-mortar storefront, the office is conveniently located in a modern high-rise building that is shared with several other businesses and technology companies. The parking lot is very large, open, and has plenty of space to accommodate customers and visitors. Across the street is a major shopping center with gas stations, restaurants, and other convenient stores, making it easy to take care of other errands before or after your appointment. The building is surrounded by beautiful landscaping, a modern water fountain display, and plenty of outdoor seating areas if you want to enjoy some fresh air while waiting. The Progressive office is located on the second floor, and building security helps create a safe and secure environment for visitors. The employees are friendly, kind, and professional. This location is primarily used for signing documents and providing information, and appointments are typically required to meet with a representative. The office is generally open Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Since this is an insurance company, discussions about coverage options and rates are usually handled online or over the phone with a representative, making in-person visits best suited for appointments and document-related services. Overall, it is a clean, welcoming, and convenient location with excellent customer service.

If I could put negative stars for this company, I most certainly would. They take hundreds of…read moredollars monthly, and for what? They don't even insure anything. I got my car broken into a couple days ago, and my deductible can't even cover it. This isn't the first time that my car had been vandalized before either. A few years ago, my parked car was struck by a hit and run and with such a long and aggravating process, I was told the lady had no insurance and I would have to pay out of pocket for the damage. At this point, they're getting away with so much it's not even funny. On top of paying these scammers for making sure they insure us, we still have to deal with the financial burdens of things that sometimes we didn't even cause to begin with. How they're still open is beyond me. AAA is the way to go
