Opening a brand new business for the first time can be very stressful to begin with, but why didn't anyone ever tell me that dealing with contractors can be a complete nightmare? On that note, let me tell you that hiring Luis to do our flooring was one of the wisest choices I made in this journey. From the first phone call, Luis has been extraordinarily adept with communication (which to me is huge!)-- he answers phone calls, returns phone calls, always responds to texts messages in a timely manner, and has always been professional and courteous (same goes for his crew). Discussing pricing was easy, and extremely reasonable. He and his crew have always been on time, and have met their timeframe deadlines (I hired them for two jobs thus far). This is not to mention how amazing their work and work ethic are! My general contractor for the bulk of our shop (separate from KR T&S) had made a comment about how in his 20+ years of being in this business has only seen one other company prep (for the floors before placing tile) as thoroughly as them. Luis was always more than willing to lend a hand in anything he could within his capacity--he introduced us to several of his own contacts for other areas of work not pertaining to tile. I was so pleased with my experience with KR T&S, that I went on to hire Luis' referral for another area of work, and I'm so happy I did. I found Luis on yelp and so glad I did. He was very responsive to all my questions and took the time to drive all the way down to Orange to go look at countertops with me. He also went out of the way to level some of the cabinets prior to the installation. His price is very competitive and while not the cheapest , his reliability is of utmost important to me therefore I went with him. Hire Luis. My family had a great experience with Luis and his crew. They installed beautiful and flawless double sink Carrara marble counters in both of our bathrooms, and it looks like a Four Seasons hotel now. Their prices are reasonable, they're quick and responsive. With all of this said, the thing that almost impressed me more was their having my best interests in mind and acting on my behalf. One example was that they would not pick up the first marble slab that my wife and I selected from the wholesaler because it ended up being damaged by the wholesaler (several hard to see cracks). Luis's close inspection prior to pick up was very valuable because the wholesaler would have held us liable for the damage had Luis taken it from the premises. Smart, and crisis averted! They offered great ideas to improve design, and even thew in some extra marble pieces leftover from a previous job that weren't initially budgeted. Their skill, promptness, knowledge of materials and its installation was impressive so I then hired them to reframe my kitchen doorway to expand it from 30" to 42". Rico is a master wizard of tile and I'm a difficult person to please (Some vendors might have a less polite way of describing me). He did all the tilework in our backyard and bathrooms. I'm very specific about color, and sometimes I would stand over him to show him which tiles I was ok with and which ones I wanted to skip, and he never once barked at me. This sort of hovering would drive most people crazy, but not Rico. He is a perfectionist. He did the most EXCEPTIONAL job, working so hard with his crew, so professional. We'd use them again in a minute. His work is MAGNIFICIENT. He was also crazy patient with me as i deliberated grout colors for an embarrassingly long period of time. He helped me. (And his choices were spot-on, so my color-blind husband and I were so happy to have his confident opinion!) Rico tiled our entire pool and it's GORGEOUS. He actually saved the day and re-did it for us after our [eventually fired] pool contractor botched it up completely. In fact, my then four-year-old son brought home art projects from preschool that looked better aligned than the tilework these clowns tried to pass off in our fully tiled pool. Rico had to take the entire job apart and re-do it and it's STUNNING, if I do say so about my own dang pool. (It's the blue-tiled beauty in the photos on this page - I mean amazing, right?!) It says a lot about Rico that I have so many kind things to say about him, as I had just given birth to our third child and the thought of jackhammering out our entire pool didn't leave me so thrilled. But Rico saved the day and through my hormonal haze, I was ever so grateful to him. He also did beautiful tile work (intricate from Fez) on our steps, and it's perfect. If we ever move, I have to either take that staircase with me or re-hire Rico. It's quite a staircase. Another reason we'd re-hire him in a snap was because he didn't blink an eye when our kids set up their chairs to watch him work for hours at at a time. Hire these guys!! Don't hesitate. We were in the middle of a nightmare renovation and needed to replace the fireplace hearth ASAP. Luis showed up same day, gave us the best price for the work/materials out of 3 vendors, personally went and selected the perfect slab to match our color scheme, came back a day later and installed it with no problems. Our wood floors are a little uneven due to the house being 90 years old, so Luis took his time and worked with the slab to make it as flush as possible. It looks awesome. He is GREAT, and is literally the one outside vendor we are most happy with for our remodel. We will be using him for our kitchen backslash next, and then our countertops. 10/10. Updating this review because Luis did such a great job on the fireplace, we hired him again to do some repairs to our kitchen floor tile. I've had a very long and headache-inducing renovation process, but Luis and KR Tile & Stone were definitely the one bright spot. Luis fabricated the granite for my kitchen countertop and backsplash and also made a desk and coffee table with the extra granite I had left over. I definitely had some odd angles and walls in my kitchen, and Luis went above and beyond in his craftsmanship and installation. Everything is beautiful, and my kitchen is the star of my home.
