This is the most uncaring, unethical, greedy funeral home we've ever dealt with. They took advantage of a devastated and grieving family. $639 for cremation...charged us almost $3000. Death certificates are supposed to be $30? Charged us $100, then to correct the mistakes they made, charged another $100 per certificate. With no pre-planning, we ended up with a list of funeral homes from a social worker at Huntsman Hospital. One of my cousins owns several funeral homes on the East coast and he researched pricing & selected Kramer as being one who did 'reasonably priced' cremations. As we had zero knowledge, we didn't research; just agreed. Unfortunately, neither of us had really considered exactly what that was going to mean. Assuming everything my cousin said regarding their pricing is correct, I would strongly urge you to to consider your opinions unless you are *truly* on a tight budget. I am glad that a basic cremation is available for people who genuinely can't afford much. Same with their basic burial. That is good (but read the fine print for 'hidden-ish' costs!) No one wants to have a loved one die and I fully understand that funeral homes are a for-profit business. With that out of the way, my experience was horrible. First, trying to find this place was bloody ridiculous. Why? Because they had the wrong bloody address on their own website. (It has since been corrected.) It's in a heavily industrial warehouse area in a business park. The limousine and hearse that were parked outside were light blue. I am praying they have black cars in their fleet(?!) The place is shabby. Their planning room is interchangeable with any conference room. Our salesman was called Josh. And let's be honest, that's exactly what he was: a salesman. My mum was the one who answered most of the questions & I only spoke if I knew something where Mummy was unsure. At one point Josh tried asking me about my favourite memory of my father. I believe he was trying to be nice. Unfortunately, I don't open up to strangers easily on a good day & this wasn't a good day. At all. My reply was stilted & impersonal. Josh decided to move on to 'story time.' I won't go in to the whole thing, but the story was about his grandmother and homemade butter mints to get through life after her husband died. I can speculate as to the point, but frankly, it wasn't made in his telling. (Mummy agrees.) Further, it was a poor comparison as we're talking about my freaking DAD... not my grandparent and my grandparent having their spouse die years before I was even born. My dad was a (much) older father, but the sheer number of people who've told me any variation of grandparent stories is astounding & it's not the same. Mummy later said that I looked as though I was ready to throttle him. She wasn't wrong. This stuff is hard and it sucks, but I kept thinking, 'Read the room. Please, for the love of god, read the room!' After talking up their venue & their 'chapel' (I use the term loosely) my mum asked to check it out. We walked back & I was expecting a chapel... Uh, no. What it was is is an ugly L shaped room. No windows. Some chairs. A TV haphazardly hanging on the wall. I never thought I'd say this, but the ICU room my dad was in at Huntsman Hospital was nicer & more appropriate a venue for such a thing. I'm not exaggerating. Even the view with the deer sculptures in back with the bridge felt more reverent and worthy of what I wish we'd done. I bolted. I'd seen enough. Other issues: They took care of writing in the details for the death certificate. My father worked for major corporations as a *Director* and a CFO. Later, he was a CEO of his own company. I was irritated to receive a death certificate that states his profession as 'manager.' There's a major difference between a director of anything & some person who's average & middle management. The Obituary: While I should have pushed when told that my father would not appear in specific newspapers unless we, 'paid them a fortune,' it was not clear that it would not be available on Legacy.com either. I'm now in the process of ensuring it is published there. I don't really care if it will cost $250-500 (Kramer's quote) Having it not posted to & hosted by Legacy is unacceptable. The one positive: We opted to hold off on a full service due to my being high risk for C19. It was a difficult thing for me, but I will say that the positive was that Kramer DID ensure my father was cremated and we were able to bring him home in time for Christmas. While the holiday was rough, I am grateful that he wasn't still in a freezer. I sincerely mean it when I say that I am thankful, relieved and truly grateful that Josh or whomever handled the cremation got him back to us before the holiday. I don't know why that was so important to me, but it was. That part of the ordeal does get 5 stars. Bottom line: Had the sales stuff not been so excruciatingly awkward, I'd be more willing to add a star. As it stands, I've experienced better in terms of the other funeral homes I've been in, plus my experience is how I came to the rating I've left. My real advice is to pre-plan. I don't want others to be caught off guard or wishing they'd chosen differently if they have the choice and the means. read more

I am 25 years old and I have recently lost my mother. I actually lost her unexpectedly days before my 25th birthday. She had a pulmonary embolism and nothing in my life has ever been harder to deal with than the sudden loss of my mom. My people (on my dad's side) live to be over 100 years old so I will be spending the last 3 quarters of my life without my mom. If that wasn't bad enough, this funeral home has made this process exponentially more painful and full of sorrow. It is unbelievable how they have botched the simple cremation of my mother. My mother had life insurance which would take care of expenses such as cremation. In the days after my mother's untimely death, this funeral home refused to communicate with our government contact who was handling her life insurance. He tried to call them multiple times but apparently they only respond to emails. I don't even know why they have a phone number. Instead of answering his call and telling him they usually communicate through email, they emailed my brother so that he could let our contact know. Unbelievable. My mother died in November of 2019. We just got a voicemail 01/17/2020 that they are "moving forward with the cremation". Are you absolutely joking me right now. I cannot tell you how painful and unnecessary that voicemail was. I had no idea that my mom's body has been sitting in a freezer for 2 months and did not need to know that. Now, apparently they did not file their request in time or something and didn't get the expenses paid out through the life insurance so we are needing to pay them directly if we want to take possession of our mother's ashes that I don't even know if there are any ashes or if her body is still in a f****** freezer. Cannot express how dealing with this incompetent company is exactly what I didn't need at this time in my life. read more

It's been eight weeks since my brother unexpectedly died, and I feel I owe this "first" review as an established Yelper. (Lots of people have already given Kramer the five stars it deserves, but all these reviews are from new accounts, so suppressed by Yelp's algorithm.) We are not wealthy, and we did not plan for such an early death, so Kramer was a blessing to us. They offer the best pricing in the valley, and unlike all other funeral homes, the prices is all-inclusive. There is no nickel-and-diming; the price is the price. It covers designing and printing color programs, flowers, transport, professional time for the viewing and burial. You don't need worry about anything. And if the all-inclusive fee is too much, they even offer free installments, which is remarkable. Their business park location, while unusual, was very comfortable, small things like the chocolates were comforting while planning the services. The programs created by Kramer were beautiful, full of photos from my brother's truncated life. The service provided by Kramer was phenomenal; they clearly had a lot of experience coordinating services at an LDS ward house and dealing with the county coroner. It was smooth, seamless, and easy for us, which is important when your family is barely able to function normally due to shock and grief. I marvel at the number hours that went into the funeral and how trouble-free it was from our perspective. Outstanding, I would recommend them for any type of funeral service. read more

Nothing short of amazing. My family had used Kramer when my father passed away in December 2016. We had a wonderful experience with Kramer at that time as well. We had decided to use them when my husband passed, May 11th 2018. They came quickly after calling and they are very caring when removing the body from the home. When meeting with them I was explained options and pricing was very clear. Very pleasant to work with. All of the staff was wonderful. I will be using them again. We were able to conduct our entire planning online. It all began with a telephone call to Josh. After the initial phone call, everything else was online. What a blessing. I would absolutely recommend Josh and Kramer to anyone. Josh was compassionate, easy going, well informed, and highly professional at every turn. They kept us informed, via email, text, and phone call, of every step along the process. While this may appear to sound overwhelming and excessive, I can state unequivocally that it wasn't. If I could rate this funeral home a zero, I would have. They helped my family members drag my heart through the pain of having to defend my brothers body even in death. I told them that I want to cremate my brother. I told them not to speak to anyone but me and my mentor about my brothers funeral arrangements. They told me that they don't talk to anyone but the people on the list given to them. The two people on that list was my mentor and I. My brother and I grew up in domestically violent homes. Together we survived it. He died at age 20 on February 2nd, 2020 due to a bullet wound in the back of his head. We are only 2 years apart. When I turned 18, was when our elder sister, Angeline, joined the rest of our family members and abandoned us. For the last 4-5 years I struggled to balance college, pay rent, keep my little brother on track and work on my mental health. We reached out to our family members on multiple occasions and each time we reached out, we were rejected. Together, we managed to see him through high school and into his first college program: HVAC. He was only 5 months from graduating with his certificate in HVAC when death, unwelcome and unexpected, came to claim him. I signed up for Kramer Family Funeral & Cremation service. I felt confident that they were going to keep my brothers information private. Under Utah Legislature 58-9-603: Loss of right of disposition. (1) As used in this section, "estranged" means a physical and emotional separation from the decedent at the time of death which has existed for a period of time that clearly demonstrates an absence of affection, trust, and regard for the decedent. (2) A person who has a right of disposition under this chapter forfeits that right and the right is passed on to the next qualifying person as listed in Section 58-9-602 under the following circumstances: (b) the person does not exercise the person's right of disposition within three days of notification of the decedent's death or within five days of the decedent's death, whichever is earlier; or (c) if a probate court under Section 58-9-605 determines that the person entitled to the right of disposition and the decedent were estranged at the time of death. All family members knew of my brothers death by February 3rd, 2020. On February 14th, 2020 My elder sister Angeline, who has been absent for the last 4-5 years, took a flight to salt lake city. She waltzed into Kramer Family Funeral & Cremation's office, called my father from Liberia (Who's been absent for 14 years and lied to him that I was present, then coerced him into telling the funeral home that we desired a burial for my brother. The funeral home allowed this to happen without calling me. I had to go back and forth between my sister, and the funeral home over my brother. Upon realizing what was happening, my dad finally called me to tell me what led him to choosing a burial, and was angry that my sister tricked him. He made it clear that my desires are his. The funeral home finally called my father after some more back and forth and hurt feelings. My dad told them we desire to cremate my brother and that they should be working with me and not Angeline. The manager, Landon, from Kramer Family Funeral & Cremation service is extremely insensitive. He ignored the fact that I am still in shock over my brothers death, that I have never buried anyone before, and that I was emotionally exhausted from everything going on. He speaks with zero emotions in his voice and zero care for his customer. He made me feel like my voice didn't matter. It makes me wish I didn't have to go through a funeral home to cremate my brother. The entire funeral home refused to hear the voice of the broken person who brought to them a loved one. If you know you have family members who will try to take over funeral arrangements when they have no rights to, DO NOT go to Kramer Family Funeral & Cremation. They do not care about anything but the money. It would pay them more to bury a body than to cremate it. They WILL attempt to capitalize off of your loved ones death. read more
