I started at their West LA campus in February, and their instructors are great. Everything about Krav Maga is thoroughly explained, shown and trained. You definitely get challenged physically, so you're combining a great workout with being able to defend yourself. Besides, the entire staff is super friendly, and there's a really great crowd of people you train with. Pricing is also fair IMO. Highly recommended! read more

I had my daughter in self-defense classes here. Unfortunately, her instructor preferred to socialize than teach. Without fail, every class began 5-7 minutes late due to him chatting away outside class, and every class ended 5 minutes early. So figure it out. For a forty minute class, you're losing almost 25% of instruction. Going to management was useless. They never spoke to him. Emails went unreturned. Total apathy. The one good employee I spoke with echoed my frustrations. He'd heard it too many times, and was actually quitting to go work somewhere with integrity! On the plus side, she did learn some good fighting techniques but for the cost, Krav Maga fell way short. read more

Skilled trainers with diverse backgrounds - secret service, military, law enforncement, women. Having had no prior experience in martial arts, I found a lot of pleasure in understanding the kinetic mechanics of my body. Not only is it useful for hitting stuff (really, really hard), but it's surprisingly generalizable - useful for every-day tasks. I like Ross's noon bag classes for the "bread & butter" of technique & endurance. I like Karlton's bag class when I wanna get wierd with it(he's from the south). read more

This business swindled me out of money... I used to train here back in the day. I told them I couldn't afford to pay for the upcoming months as I had medical stuff to attend to if to freeze my account they froze my account and announced to me still charged me, but I guess in the fine print is saying that you could still be charged even if you put your account on hold... That's the whole point of putting your account on hold so you don't have to pay that month if you're out of town and sick... My boyfriend and I have heard about KMW from a couple of friends who absolutely love going and decided to finally take the leap and try out a class. Christian S., our point of contact made the entire experience so smooth - he was super flexible and so great with following up. I had a dental emergency and asked to have him check in with me in a couple of weeks and he was great about respecting it and then following up. I had a bunch of questions and I really felt like Christian was super knowledgeable about pretty much everything going on. My bf and I were thinking about transitioning from otf to KMW and I really appreciated how straightforward he was about the differences and how willing he was to work with us (like giving us some trial cards to help us transition from the otf cancellation period to KMW). We tried out the intro to Krav Maga class with Gabe K. and it honestly exceeded all of my expectations. Gabe went around taking the time to make sure people had proper forms and he honestly made the one hour class fly by. We signed up for a one year membership the same day and we couldn't be more excited to become a part of KMW. (Bonus: since both of us were signing up, the second person got a great discount on top of the October special cutting the initiation fees!) PS. The parking structure is super convenient and KMW validates parking for two hours M-F and I believe the weekend is all day. read more

Great instructors (shoutout to Daniel) They really stress the need to practice in class so you react properly in the streets. The facility is clean, well kept, they validate your parking (although the machine for this is from before I was born and it really needs to be updated). How come Archie is the only instructor who asks who has injuries before the class starts and he's the only one to remind people to use hand sanitizer...Every instructor has said to wipe down bags at the end of class so that's good. I've had a thumb injury for over a month; I've also had the bag slip when I was holding it and my partner hit my chin. Saw a guy with bloody elbows once because it scraped the bag. I've partnered with a few people who hit way too hard, women and guys. Did shoulder taps once and that triggered a panic attack and couldn't go on. The only thing good about this place is that it is female friendly. But KM is not for me. I have no desire to level up, I said that when I signed up. I don't think warm-ups should be rushed through And be repetitive. Bored with doing jumping jacks and sit-ups over and over. Every instructor is different. read more

I don't usually write reviews nor do I like working out but I have to say, hands down, this is my favorite type of exercise. Not only is it a good workout but it's empowering !!!! All of the staff are super accommodating and friendly-- facility is very clean and equipment is well taken care of. I have to give a special shout out to Archie, who really spends individual time w/each person. I was 2 weeks away from taking my Level 2 test and COVID hit. My husband and I went for an introductory class here and really enjoyed the workout. We were given gloves to use for the class. At the end of the class, we sat down to talk to the sales team. My face started turning red and continued to do so as the night wore on. The next morning I woke up with a rash and swollen face. I wasn't sure what was happening but I later found out that I had contracted a staph infection. There was nothing that I had done out of the ordinary other than attend this class. This points to the gloves that they gave me to use not being cleaned properly. I spoke to the managers several times via phone and email until they turned me over to an insurance adjustor for their cleaning company. I had to give them personal medical records as this event caused me to go to urgent care and then the ER twice. I also had to submit embarrassing photos of my face. I was in so much pain and unable to attend meetings that I had scheduled to find work. It was a total nightmare. After several months of the runaround, I was sent a note that there wasn't enough evidence to show they were at fault. After talking to many that have trained in martial arts gyms and doing research, I found that staph infections are common. Now that "free" class cost me medical bills and time. Needless to say, I am incredibly disappointed, frustrated, and advise others to avoid this gym. read more

With Middle school coming up next year I felt I had to do something to prepare him for the worst-case scenario that he is in a position he must defend himself. CHRISTIAN and RAYMOND have been so helpful to my family without being pushy. Where do I start? I originally joined years ago cuz I heard it was legit self-defense and a good workout. I've taken Kung fu, ju jitsu, boxing and karate before so I was really looking forward to trying something new and more "reality based." I am happy I made that decision. I started with Level 1 Krav Maga classes for over a year and got my basics on kicking, punching and defending okay. I was scared of the legendary 6-hour test but finally mustered the courage to step up and passed a following year later. A large reason for my passing was the unbelievable support and guidance from the instructors. They truly make a difference. From Wayne, Ross and Archie to Todd, Gabe, Noemi and Mitch just to name a few! Each instructor brings their unique personality and emphasis to the class and are fully committed to each student's growth. Cannot recommend them enough. I've also tried the Bag classes which is an hour of grueling self-discovery in the pain cave. Always a great workout, you will leave drenched in sweat and new respect for yourself for finishing. I highly recommend checking out a class here - whether it's Krav, Bag or CrossFit - the first class is free (and don't worry, the folks that work here are chill and won't make you feel pressured). Let's start by saying...I LOVE Krav Maga! I attend five classes a week...that's how addicted I am. Sometimes I even attend two classes in a row. Either I have too much aggression or just love beating on my co-workers when they hold the pads. They offer various classes from Self Defense, Fitness & MMA. Depending on the package you sign up for you can also take Flexibility, Yoga and Kettle Bell classes. I take the Self Defense/Fighting and Fitness Classes. A total and complete body workout. Depending on who the instructor is, the warmups can be easy or tough. My favorite intructors are Shannon, John and Matt. John has the craziest warmups and exhaustion drills. Be prepared to have bruised knuckles, peeled elbows and bruised shins. Sore shoulders, wrists and legs. Punches, headbutts, hammer fists, frontkicks, and sidekicks...Ohh My! The getting out of choke and hand hold techniques are awesome. You go from being in danger into whooping some ass. You will NOT be bored in Krav...you will become addicted like myself. I am always motivated to attend Krav. I feel dissappointed if I don't. I work in the same building as the workout studio is in. Yes it's a bit pricey, but if you are bored of hitting the gym and need to enjoy working out, then this is for you. A HELL of a workout and you learn to hand people their arse's. As a bonus, Krav Maga is the fighting technique used in the Bourne series, with a bit of Kali. Imagine...getting into a fight with someone at Barnes & Noble and slapping them to death with a book! Just try! One class. It's free. It is addictive, knowledgeable and you will have fun do it. I started 6-7 months ago and I totally enjoy it. It is hard. It pushes you. It challenges you on every level: your discipline, dedication, motivation, your strength, and weakness. Even if you don't want to lose your fat (curves), you will. I am struggling to keep my weight up. I miss my lost curves and breast size (you go down cup size in 3 months whether you liked it or not). I'm more like my dad now. Be prepared immediately to be in contact with other people: sparing, chocking, different kicks...so for me, who is germophobic and I don't like new people touching me, it was a disaster, but I had to get over it. You can be an absolute beginner (like me) without any prior knowledge of any martial arts. The level 1 teaches you from scratch. Don't worry, you are constantly watched by experienced instructors and it is a pretty safe environment. In the first couple of months you will be sore, in pain, have bruises, some cuts...but the body will get used to that. My right-hand knuckles are prone to skin getting ripped from boxing/punching, which really annoys me. Maybe I had bad gloves or I hit too hard or both. As far as instructors, it took me a "moment" (weeks, maybe a month) to realize which instructor's teaching skills, energy, pace, and patience work best for us (my friend Polina and me). We go to early classes from 7-8 am with Todd Goldman and Ben Mitnick. I have no idea how they put up with us sometimes. They are my absolute favorite instructors. I have huge respect for how they transfer that knowledge to us. Kelly is also an excellent teacher but she is has a class only once a week and in the afternoon which doesn't work for us. We also prefer these early morning classes before our hectic day starts, we save on traffic time and it is not crowded! I am pretty sure, after weeks and weeks of practice that a lot of technics are embedded now in my DNA, and if it comes to being attacked, the attacker will be quite surprised. Repetition is the key, no matter how small the move you think it is. I feel this school is my second home. Everyone's great, all coming from different backgrounds. Very versatile place. It's also affordable. You can go as many times as you want in a week, you still pay a flat rate. The downside is if you want to go to a higher level, you really have to pass for a belt. It's mandatory. I'm in no rush to do it but eventually, I will have to. And it's a 5 hours exam...which I have no idea how I'll survive....but...I'll keep you posted :D read more

I've been training at KMW for a little over three years. Before joining, I'd never done any type of martial arts, boxing, or fighting so this was all very new for me. After my 1st class; I was hooked. I recently had to take a 3-month break due to an injury (I fell on a scooter, not Krav related) and I was a bit nervous to come back. However, my 1st class back was with Wayne Miller, who I've been training with since I started, and I remember why I continue to train at KMW. This place is like a family. It's not only the training and the members that I love, but it's seeing the same instructors that continue to work with me and help me improve my craft to stay safe. Wayne has such passion and dedication to his students that shows through his teaching. I did trial classes at several schools in the area before committing to KMW in January 2015. Krav was something I've wanted to practice for a while and it's been tremendously valuable for me. The instructors here (I primarily go to WLA) are invested in your growth as a student, and they push you to your limits and beyond. It's a two-way street though, so put in the work if you want to get better. I'm a regular in KMW's classes, and it's motivating to be apart of a community that seeks to elevate themselves as people, students, and fighters. One thing I would note though: Krav is very much an acquired taste. It's not for everyone, but I would encourage those who are curious to try it out. read more

I live in Los Angeles and 20 years ago I was attacked from behind on a bus from a street thug. I had no idea at that point how to defend myself from the guy that grabbed my shirt from behind that grabbed my shirt and pulled it and demanded to see my back tattoo. I turned around angry and told him to stop, but the guy became very aggressive. Luckily my bus-stop came up once the guy stood up ready to fight me. I could tell he was a former marine from his arm tattoo and very high on some kind of drug. I guess it was meth. I don't know.. but I got off the bus and escaped like a miracle with the bus doors closing right in front of the guy that was still trapped on the bus. That made me think twice. What will I do if same thing happens again? I decided to learn how to defend myself so by accident stumbled over the dojo at Pico blvd. and enrolled and attended classes 4-5 a week for about a year. I can say that KravMaga changed my mind completely. I got extreme discipline and a mindset of a warrior. And it was simple and FUN. Fortunately I have only had to use it on the street once but with 100% effectiveness. I highly recommend KravMaga to anyone that are looking for the ultimate street self defense. I've been taking bag classes here for almost 2 years now and I love it. I was never really into working out until I joined Krav. I was a bit intimidated seeing how intense the classes were when I used to walk by the building. I couldn't even do a sit-up on my first day. But after going 3-4 times a week consistently, my strength and endurance has increased tremendously. My favorite class is the 6am on Wednesdays with Benjamin. He's very nice and personable and always makes the class fun. I really enjoy the other 6am classes as well, Tuesdays with Molly and Thursdays with Denise. They're all very nice and the workouts are always different each week so it never gets boring. I like that we do a little bit of everything such as cardio, strength training and self defense. I wish they had 6am classes on Mondays and Fridays. I sometimes go to the 12:15pm class on Friday with Gabe and his class is good too. The instructors here are awesome and they really care to help you improve. The facility is very clean and the front desk girls are really nice. I've been referring my friends/co-workers here and so far all of them are hooked. I'm disappointed that I didn't join sooner. read more

Had a good experience until I referred my friend last year. Unrequested, he was promised an Amazon gift card to me for referring him. At this time he was also told he could just keep the gift card for himself if he wanted... I'm in the best shape of my life thanks to all of the amazing coaches here! Special shoutout to Tina, Michael, and Jerry who have been incredibly supportive and all around fantastic! For years I tried staying motivated to go to 24 hour fitness and lifting on my own, but it never really worked for me. The difference in going to a crossfit class is that you workout with the same people and there's a really great community aspect that brings you back into the gym again and again. There's also been some really fantastic 6 week challenges (Tina, can we do another one soon; I know it's a lot of work!) where I learned about nutrition and healthy meal prep--total game changer for my personal body transformation. I started four years ago with the Krav Maga classes and eventually switched over to doing Crossfit because I was more interested in getting into shape and getting stronger. I have no experience with Krav Maga or self defense - I come with a triathlon/endurance athlete background but I figured it was time to learn something new. I found myself at a Tuesday night level 1 class (with Ricky Ruelas as my instructor). I was nervous because I had no idea what to expect, but Ricky and some of his other assistant instructors were super helpful in making sure I was moving efficiently and properly. I had so much fun, I made my husband buy me a tombstone bag so I could practice punching it at home. Ray was the membership guy who helped us afterwards, my husband ended up signing up for a year and I plan on attending their women's self defense seminars in the future! I started out with a number of reservations about committing to a fitness membership for a price that is well beyond what one would pay for a traditional gym membership. It was a gift from a friend. Within very little time I became vastly aware of the difference between KMW and a Gym. I was warmly welcomed into a community of smart talented people of all different fitness levels and we grew closer and I became part of a network of support and encouragement like I have never known. The coaching staff at KMW is so knowledgeable, experienced, well rounded, and invested in my development and safety. I can't imagine having spent the last 5 years on my own at a gym. For the experience and development I have been provided while being a member of this community is part of my life now. It's part of who I am. Eating better- check! Living with more energy and openness to others- check! Learning and Growing- Check! At KMW every day is game day. It's just so damn fun. I'm 38 years old and KMW has helped me achieve my goal of getting back to college form on the mound and continuing to play baseball for as long as possible. MAYBE THE WORST SELF DEFENSE PLACE I EVER TRAINED AT. KRAV as self defense is debatable,,,as exercise its OK.. I was there for Rich Bresslers Jujitsu class. At nite the place was VERY crowded..Mens locker ultra crowded.. from another review: his Very honest review. 1 If you want to sweat - ok place. [yes] 1 Not bad training just ok & Instructors are ok. (no real experience ) [its a factory] 2 Classes are over crowded for 1 st level over 20 -30 people. 3 Rooms are not cleaned after every training. [yes] 4 Mostly friendly people. [who are fight novices and aging yuppies] 5 You ll pick up some basic skills - but do not expect something special like Jean Jacques Machado Jiu Jitsu [ but this may cost more] 6 Billing - Very Big minus - Be carefull ! OVERALL MY EXPERIENCE WAS THAT THE INTEREST OF STAFF IS IN SALES, NOT CUSTOMER SATISFACTION...gee big surprise.. when i quit after a few months..then they were interested in getting me back, to talk about why I cancelled....... if you want to sweat...walk or run if you want to learn self defense try Boxing or JuJitsu. read more

Krav Maga as a workout I LOVED. Learning self defense in such a kick ass way was fun and a fantastic way to get in shape. I would try out Krav Maga again in the future if the price was right and there was a gym close by, however, my membership at Krav Maga Worldwide met an untimely end due to several factors. I didn't have the time to dedicate to 4-5 classes per week, so I was in the level one classes for my entire 6 months as a member. After a while, some of the classes became a bit repetitive. The instructors all TOTALLY vary - and tend to teach you slightly different techniques. Sometimes what you learned from one instructor will be "corrected" by another instructor in a different class. Some of the classes get extremely crowded, making it hard to practice without accidentally stepping on someone. When you first sign up, they tell you that you HAVE to wear KMW gear to your workouts. This is completely untrue. Every single class I was in was filled with people wearing standard workout gear and they were not "punished" or forced to do additional push ups, etc. for not dressing "properly". KMW gear is expensive! When I signed up I got $60 to spend as a promotion in their store and aside from the one tank top and work out pants I purchased on the house, I didn't bother buying anything else. As for pricing, it's all or nothing and they lock you in for an entire year. They do offer student rates and military discounts, so definitely ask about that. I was able to get out of my contract early because I was moving out of state, but they required documented proof of my move and charged me a $100 termination fee in order to terminate. Unless you live on the westside, traffic getting to and from class is TERRIBLE and was always a major deterrent for me going to class. They do have free parking, though, and that was really nice. Bottom line: loved Krav Maga, wasn't a huge fan of Krav Maga Worldwide. read more

So, when I was trying to decide which martial arts form to study, I asked myself who the biggest bad asses on the planet were. You're probably thinking, the Asians, like Jet Li, Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan. Or maybe MMA stars like Rampage Jackson or George St. Pierre. Well, you'd be wrong. It's the Jews. This planet has a genocidal hard-on for the Jewish race like Michael Jackson had for small boys. And they're still standing. So, I decided to take what they take. And that's Krav Maga. As for the system itself... it's fantastic. It's designed around real world scenarios and natural body reactions. It teaches you to be quick and explosive in a situation to try to end a fight fast. There is no "way of the warrior" or fighting for points. The system is designed to save your life. I'm presently halfway through Level 3, or the orange belt, and can only say I wish I had started sooner. Their system is designed to ensure that you see everything in that level by the time you test. The further you progress the longer the training period is. That said, just because you have the required classes doesn't guarantee you a testing spot. If the instructors don't think you are ready they won't allow you to test. In regards to the instructors - There are a lot of them and they all have their own personalities. Some are super fun and nice and some are hardcore and all business. But, they are all good and they can ALL teach you something and teach it well. You get to know the instructors you like and what you get from each. And the training is very hands on. From Day One you always train with a partner. Not necessarily the same partner although you will make friends and you tend to partner up with a lot of the same people. But, it's good to change because every partner will challenge you in different ways. And you will learn the difference between a good partner and a bad partner the more you go. The space is great. They have four rooms to train in. Some classes do get full and you just have to learn which ones they are and if it's something you can deal with. I know they do try to limit class sizes sometimes, so getting there early is always better than walking in late. But, I've been going for a few years and have never had a problem in any class. Krav Maga offers Self Defense, Fighting, and Fitness classes. And they have an entire system designed for kids as well. It is a great way to build confidence in your kid as well as lean 'em up if they're getting a little soft in the middle. I haven't taken any of the fighting classes, but they include MMA training, ground fighting (jiu-jitsu), boxing. And the fitness classes focus on Bag Classes, which incorporate a shitload of exercise with a shitload of punching and kicking a heavy bag. And they've also really embraced and developed their CrossFit program, which is a stellar workout. The men's changing room has lockers, a simply stocked sink area i.e. razors, mouthwash, etc. There are a few showers as well. It's a changing room not a spa and that's all it should be. A lot of people are either coming from or going to work. Free parking just down the street, just remember to bring your ticket with you to get it validated. Front desk staff is smiley and awesome. I shopped around for where to take krav, and tried a few different gyms (dojos? studios? what do you call a place that teaches krav maga? Maybe a kragym); settled on KM Worldwide because, to be honest, it was close to my job at the time, and because they offer more classes (i.e. a more flexible schedule) than any of the other places in LA. I'm guessing because they seem to be, hands-down, the biggest KM place in town. In fairness, the instruction didn't seem better or worse at the other places I checked out; they were just less geographically and schedule-y convenient. That said, having such a huge number of classes is a big deal; at a smaller operation, I'd have a much more limited chance to fit the classes into my day-to-day life. And that's key - you're getting out of this what you put in. Other reviewers are not lying: it's pricey here (again, though, basically the same as other local places I checked out. A few dollars - literally maybe $10 a month - more expensive). If you come once a week, maybe not worth it. I'd say twice or three times, and I'd say it absolutely is. It's a surprisingly diverse gym. The gender ratio here is surprisingly balanced for a martial arts place; I'll guess 40% female 60% male; and you see classes that have students who are huge, muscular guys, some slender women, a couple of teenagers, and some slightly overweight folks looking to shape up. Everybody is welcome, and everybody gets something out of it. A few months in and I'm a huge fan. I'm also in, indisputably, the best shape of my life. That wasn't my goal at all, just came to learn how to punch somebody, but woah. You don't become bulked up here, but you see experienced people walking out, and they're slender but have corded muscles that look like they're made out of concrete - THAT'S what you'll end up looking like. It's kind of awesome. A few notes if you're thinking of coming here and checking it out: - I was in decent shape when I started, and I didn't even make it through the first practice without collapsing! Yeah, it's a HUGE workout. The key, especially when you're starting out: do NOT go full blast at the start of class. Keep yourself at doing like, 80% of what they're yelling at you to do. In a couple weeks you'll be killing it - There are a LOT of instructors, because they're got a lot of classes to teach. They're almost without exception great. Because there are so many, there are varying personalities: levels of humor, intensity, chillness, strictness, etc. can vary; it's good to find the ones you like, and try to take their classes. Of all the instructors, there is only one that I don't like. And he's not a bad guy, he's great at martial arts, he's just really bad at teaching. The rest are solidly good. - Which partner you get makes a big difference in how good a class goes for you. It doesn't matter if they're big or short, small or weak, male or female, just that they're giving it their all. Watch out for people there to prove something or who have poor control; you'll end up getting smacked by them by accident. - Krav looks like you take a beating, but it's not too bad; you can definitely handle it. Everyone's got pads. - Keep a close eye on the contract; you can indeed put your membership on hold for up to 3 months (helpful when you may be working or not), but you have to let them know by the 15th of the month if you're going to start holding the next month. When i signed up, i figured I'd knock out three months or so, learn some moves, then stop coming. But now, five months in, I'm scraping and saving in order to keep coming. I recently left KMW after almost 2 years of attending Krav and Bag classes. I can't really complain too much about the facility, the instructors, or the quality of instruction I received here. My physical conditioning improved greatly, and I learned a lot of great stuff that has made me more confident in my ability to protect myself and my loved ones should the need ever arise, which I hope it doesn't. However, I should point out that I always felt like just another membership number, rather than as a member of the KM community. I've trained at other martial arts facilities that were more welcoming and encouraging, and that made you feel like a "part of the family". No one at KMW was ever rude or overly aggressive toward me, but I really felt as if no one would care if I showed up to class or not. I actually trained with an instructor for a year who couldn't remember my name, even though I attended his class consistently. On the other hand, I noticed that every attractive female student was known by name to the staff. Perhaps I just wasn't one of the "cool kids" here. Anyway, It's a fine facility, but feels more like "Globogym" than "Average Joe's" (for those who saw DODGEBALL). Go in with that expectation and you won't be disappointed. P.S. Krav Maga, Krav Maga.... It's a great workout and may be able to help you defend yourself is you progress through the different levels. My issue with Krav Maga centers around two things: 1) The pricing options and 2) The instructors. 1) As someone who really enjoyed Krav Maga, I was very disappointed in the packages. It's all or nothing. I'm very busy and after signing up for the classes realized how hard it was to squeeze it into my schedule. I was already out of $130/mth (I stayed for 5 mths), as well as the intro fees and last month (which you pay for when you sign up). It would have been much better for them to offer price per class options as well. I have since found Vertitude in Canoga Park, which has $20 per class Krav Maga options. 2) Mike Burton ROCKS! He was the reason I kept coming back after working the night shift and only sleeping for 3 hours! He's extremely patient and just a genuinely nice guy. But, there are a few instructors that are just a bit too high strung. I wish I could remember the female instructors name, that yelled at the class as if we were children. I was 2 seconds away from walking out. She knew the moves and had great technique, but did not have a patient bone in her body. Not everyone is meant to be a teacher. All in all, it's a great workout. Some debate whether it's true self defense, it's up to you. Definitely recognize the commitment before signing on. And remember traffic sucks in this area, lol. read more
